This study developed effective assay method of pharmaceutical quality control was developed by near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). The calibration equation model of assay was developed by 2nd deriviative PLS(Partial Least Squares) regression method with NIRS over the wavelength range from 1100 to 1400nm using diazepam tablets (2mg, 5mg). Although diazepam tablets are made by 5-different manufacture, they have similar formulation. When the correlation was compared with values by NIRS and HPLC, the R-2s and standard error of calibration (SEC) for 2mg were 0.9300 and 0.98%, the R-2s and SEC for 5mg were 0.9165 and 0.63%. The validation of the calibration equation model yield that the R-2s and standard error of prediction (SEP) for 2mg were 0.9611 and 0.995%, the R-2s and SEP for 5mg were 0.9114 and 0.842%. The method was validated on assay method for diazepam tablets by the calibration equation.
Valsartan, a drug for the treatment of cardiovascular disease, exhibited low bioavailability which was caused by, at least in part, limited solubility at low pH. Present investigation deals with the preparation and characterization of gastro-retentive drug delivery system (GRDDS) using valsartan solid dispersion. We prepared solid dispersion using surfactants (Poloxamer 407) and alkalizer ($Na_2CO_3$) which may to be useful for improving solubility of valsartan at low pH and evaluated by saturated solubility of valsartan in distilled water. Valsartan gastro-retentive (GR) tablets containing solid dispersion prepared and evaluated by weight variation, floating time and dissolution rate. Compression at lower pressures resulted in the tablets floating over simulated gastric fluid (pH 1.2) for more than 17 h. In vitro release of valsartan from GR tablet was dependent on the amount of poloxamer 407 and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. On the basis of evaluation parameter, formulation E-3 was selected as a final formulation. Therefore, it can be concluded that the GR tablets containing solid dispersion may be exploited successfully for the delivery of poorly drug such as valsartan.

Manufacturing a multi-layered tablet such as Xatral XL$^{(R)}$ is more complex and expensive than monolayered tablets, but mono-layered tablets may have less favorable release properties depending on the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of the active ingredient. We therefore sought to develop a monolayer tablet with a similar dissolution profile to the commercial alfuzosin sustained-release triple layered tablet (Xatral XL$^{(R)}$). We prepared four different mono-layered alfuzosin tablets with different concentrations of hydroxypropyl methycellulose and PVP K-90. Fomulation III with alfuzosion/mg-stearate/ HPMC/ PVP K-90 (10/5/110/95 mg/tab) has a similar dissolution rate to Xatral XL$^{(R)}$, with a similarity factor score of 81.4. However, the swelling and erosion rates of the two formulations were different, and NIR analysis showed differences in the mechanisms of drug release. Thus, although formulation III and Xatral XL$^{(R)}$ show similar dissolution rates, the mechanisms of drug release are different.
Bioequivalence (BE) test of biphenyl dimethyl dicarboxylate (DDB) tablets was performed. Normal healthy male volunteers (n = 20) were randomly divided into 2 groups, and reference $(Nissel{\circledR})$ and test $(Livital{\circledR})$ tablets of DDB $(25mg{\times}8\;Tab.\;= \;200\;mg)$ were given orally by balanced two-period cross-over design. The serum concentration was determined by high performance liquid chromatography. The pharmacokinetic parameters, AUC, $C_{max}$, and $T_{max}$ obtained after drug administration were statistically analyzed. Statistical evaluation of the data involved an analysis of variance (ANOVA) for cross-over design. The results were within 20% differences of mean value in AUC, $C_{max}$, and $T_{max}$ between reference and test tablets. The results of ANOVA showed no significant differences for "between group or subject" and "period". The test tablet was bioequivalent with the reference tablet in the AUC, $C_{max}$, and $T_{max}$.

Thioctic acid is a vitamin-like antioxidant which is prepared as tablets and injection. The Korean Pharmacopoeia (KP XI) contains monograph for the quality control of raw thioctic acid using ultra-violet visible spectrophotometry and its formulations using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). In British Pharmacopoeia 2013 (BP2013), another HPLC method is used for the assay test of thioctic acid material. For the international harmonization, we present an HPLC method for quantitation of thioctic acid in both raw material and tablets. Method validation was performed to determine linearity, precision, accuracy, system suitability, and robustness. The linearity of calibration curves in the desired concentration range was high ($r^2=0.9995$), while the RSDs for intra- and inter-day precision were 0.93 ~ 1.26 % and 1.40 ~ 1.76 %, respectively. Accuracies ranged from 98.13-100.00 %. Since the system suitability, intermediate-precision and robustness of the assay were satisfactory, this method will be a valuable addition to the Korean Pharmacopoeia (KP XI).
The objective of this work is to investigate the effect of molecular weight of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and release medium on the release of nifedipine (NP) from PEO tablets containing NP and to get some mechanistic insights into the release of NP. The tablets containing NP were prepared by direct compression, using a flat-faced punch and die. The molecular weights of PEOs used were 200K, 900K, 2000K and 7,000K. The release kinetics were studied for 24 hours in aqueous ethanol solution, using a dissolution tester at $36.5^{\circ}C$ and 100 rpm. Drug release rate increased, as the concentration of ethanol in the dissolution medium increased, due to the increased solubility of NP. As the molecular weight of PEO increased, release rate decreased, due to the slower swelling and dissolution of PEO. The power values obtained by fitting data to the power law expression $(M_t/M_{\infty}=kt^n)$ indicated that, at low ethanol concentration, the release of NP is governed by anomalous diffusion. However, as the ethanol concentration increases, diffusional release becomes to prevail over anomalous or zero-order release. Overall, these results provided some insights into the release of NP from PEO tablet.
In this paper, we investigate the impacts of the following four influential factors on flow in digital reading: contents, platforms, motivations, and places. The contents factor was subdivided into "news articles" and "journal papers"; platforms is comprised of "mobile phones," "tablets," and "laptops"; motivations consists of "pleasure" and "assignments"; and "home," "on the go," and "out of home" are the subdivisions of the places factor. We conducted a questionnaire survey with the study's participants and the following results are shown: 1) The flow during the reading of news articles is influenced by motivations, whereas the flow during the reading of journal papers is influenced by platforms. 2) Regarding mobile phones, motivations significantly affected the flow, whereas content types significantly affected the flow for tablets; also, laptops provided the best flow and articles can be read on the platform regardless of motivations. 3) Reading for pleasure rather than for assignments positively influenced the flow for all of the platforms. 4) With respect to news articles, the places providing flow are different across platforms. However, for journal papers, the places out of home provided good flow. For tablets, the places for flow significantly depended on the content type, which is not the case for laptops.
Even though two different preparations are chemically equivalent, the variance of bioavailability differenciates the clinical effect of preparations, so that the preparations need to be evaluated by comparing bioavailability in vivo as well as chemical equivalence. In this study, bioequivalence tests of commercially available isoniazid tablets A, B, C and D (standard) were performed to give some guidelines to bioequivalence test. The bioavailability parameters obtained by drug administeration were statistically analyzed. Statistical evaluation of the data involved an analysis of variance for a cross over design. Cross over design was employed with 8 healthy volunteers. The results were within 20% difference of mean value in the AUC, Cmax, Tmax and amount of urinary excretion (Au) between standard and isoniazid tablets. The results of ANOVA showed no significant differences for 'group or sequence', but almost not for 'between subjects'. The tablet. A, B and D were within 20 min, but tablet C was within 50 min. Tablet A was biologically equivalent in the Au. tablet B biologically equivalent in the Au and AUC. Tablet C was biologically equivalent in the Au. The relationship between the dissolution rate and Au was significant.

Simultaneous determination of nine water-soluble vitamins contained in multi-nutrient tablets was carried out by reversed phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) equipped with analytical $C_{18}$ column and UV (270 nm) detector. Those standard vitamins were successfully separated within 23 minutes by gradient elution with solvent A (0.5 M potassium phosphate monobasic) and solvent B (0.25 M potassium phosphate monobasic-methanol, 1:1). Calibration curves showed good linealities with correlation coefficients (> 0.92) in tested ranged respectively. The detection limits were considered to be 2.1 ng for ascorbic acids 60 ng for Vit B$_{6}$ 3 ng for p-aminobenzoic acid, 9 ng for niacinamide, 9 ng for thiamin, 5.0 ng for folic acid and 1.5 ng for riboflavin at 0.05 a.u.f.s. Solid phase extraction through Sep-Pak (C$_{18}$ ) cartridge was successfully applied for purification of water soluble vitamins in commercial multi-nutrient tablets.ts.
Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy has been widely applied in various field, since it is nondestructive and no sample preparation is required. In this paper, NIR spectroscopy was used for the determination of naproxen in a commercial pharmaceutical preparation. NIR spectroscopy was used to determine the content of naproxen in intact naproxen tablets containing 250 mg ($65.8\%$ nominal concentration) by collecting NIR spectra in the range of $1100{\sim}1750nm$. The laboratory-made samples had $46.1{\sim}85.5\%$ nominal naproxen concentration. The measurements were made by reflection using a fiber-optic probe and calibration was carried out by partial least square regression (PLSR). Model validation was performed by randomly splitting the data set into calibration and validation data set (63 samples as a calibration data set and 42 samples as a validation data set). The developed NIR calibration gave results comparable to the known values of tablets in a laboratorial manufacturing process with standard error of calibration (SEC) and standard error of prediction (SEP) of $1.06\%\;and\;1.04\%$, respectively. The NIR method showed good accuracy and repeatability. NIR spectroscopic determination in intact tablets allowed the potential use of real time monitoring for a running production process.
