Customized Digital TV System for Individuals/Communities based on Data Stream Mining (데이터 스트림 마이닝 기법을 적용한 개인/커뮤니티 맞춤형 Digital TV 시스템)

  • The switch from analog to digital broadcast television is extended rapidly. The DTV can offer multiple programming choices, interactive capabilities and so on. Moreover, with the spread of Internet, the information exchange between the communities is increasing, too. These facts lead to the new TV service environment which can offer customized TV programs to personal/community users. This paper proposes a 'Customized Digital TV System for Individuals/Communities based on Data Stream Mining' which can analyze user's pattern of TV watching behavior. Due to the characteristics of TV program data stream and EPG(electronic program guide), the data stream mining methods are employed in the proposed system. When a user is watching DTV, the proposed system can control the surrounding circumstances as using the user behavior profiles. Furthermore, the channel recommendation system on the smart phone environment is proposed to utilize the profiles widely.

  • Recently, digital convergence, whose core demand is OSMU (One Sourse Multi Use),has been the main topic in e-learning domain and industry. However, the existing web learning content and the new resource developed toprovide contents to different learning environment must be processed to adapt the new learning settings, which causes the cost and time problem, So in this paper we design and implement a Java based SCORM content transcoding system which can transcode the SCORM-based learning content into MHP-based DiTV content in order to adapt t-learning environment using DiTV, which is closer to our real life. Using this system which has ability of inter-operation, reuse, highly-use, the problem mentioned above can be solved well. Moreover, it is possible for a learner who is not familiar with computer to study using DiTV instead of PC.

  • In this paper, we presented the concept and some methods to watch online video clips related to a TV program on atelevision which is called lean-back media, and we simulated our concept on a PC system. The key point of this research is suggesting a new service model to TV viewers and the TV industry, which the model provides simple and easy ways to watch online video clips on a TV screen. The paper defined new tags for metadata and algorithm for the model, then showed simple example using those metadata. At the end, it mentioned the usage of the model in the digital broadcasting environment and discuss about the issues which should handle as future works.

  • Compared with analog broadcasting, digital broadcasting supports technical background to provide personalize the TV watching environment by offering broadcasting services that can adapt to viewers' preferences. However, current digital broadcasting shows limited services such as reservation recording, simple program guiding with an electronic program guide (EPG) on a personal video recorder system, and primitive data broadcasting by broadcasters. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to suggest a new broadcasting environment which gives a person facility and a difference fur watching TV by serving enhanced personalized services. For that reason, we propose an intelligent broadcasting system which can minimize viewer's actions, and enhanced broadcasting services which are based on understanding of the semantics of broadcasting contents. To implement the system, agent technology as well as the MPEG-7 and TV-Anytime Forum (TVAF) are employed. For content-level services, real-time content filtering and personalized video skimming are designed and implemented. To verify the usefulness of the proposed system, we demonstrate it with a test-bed on which content-level personalized services are implemented.

A Metadata for Integration of Heterogeneous Multimedia Metadata (미디어 정보의 통합을 위한 메타데이터)

  • 이 논문에서는 상이한 형식의 멀티미디어 메타데이터를 통합하기 위해서 통합 메타데이터를 정의하기 위해서 기존의 표준 멀티미디어 정보에 대한 다루고 있는 MPEG-7 MDS(Multimedia Description Scheme)와 TV-Anytime을 비교 분석하였다. 이렇게 정의한 메타데이터는 분산된 이종의 멀티미디어 자원을 의미적으로 통합하는 데에 사용될 수 있다. 아울러 이 메타데이터를 기반으로 향후 온톨로지를 정의하고 이를 기반으로 한 추론을 가능하게 해 상황인지 기반 멀티미디어 서비스를 지원하는 데에도 활용될 수 있다.

  • 본 논문은 분산환경에서 다양한 형식으로 기술되어 있는 멀티미디어 데이터베이스에 대한 통합 방법을 기술한다. 멀티미디어 컨텐츠에 대해 기술하고 있는 대표적 표준들은 MPEG-7 MDS와 TV-Anytime등이 존재한다. 이런 다양한 형식으로 기술된 데이터베이스를 통합하여 하나된 쿼리로 사용자가 원하는 정보를 효율적으로 추출하기 위해 우리는 Mediator 방식과 분산환경에 강력한 프로토콜을 제공하고 있는 Web Service를 이용하여 통합 시스템을 구성한다.

  • Digital cable TV(DCATV) is totally different with a existing TV which is passive, and can pick the contents anytime we want. It is very popular in many houses and we can see bright future with this. This study will show a standard that is a suitable and convenient VOD menu category for 20's through a various usability test. Moreover it will be provided new menu style and GUI through the preferences. For this, we found expected problems first through the heuristic analysis and did iterative usability test to verify and improve these problems. As a result of that, we improved errors of VOD menu structure and suggested new menu style including metaphor, colour and icon users can recognize easily. That is, VOD categories should be grouped among definite meanings. And we found using convenience is more important than new discovery of method on menu style for experienced users. This study can be not only based data when DCATV menu is renewed but also can be used as a reference data when designing other DCATV menu.

  • The objective of he study is to record the real conditions along with the soccer ball that is, each player's ball keeping time, the number football keeping, accuracy of passing to other player, direction, etc., on a real-time basis, measure them in numbers and get necessary analyzed output as much as one needs. The study consists of the following stages: (1) Record the data by drawing through Visual Interface on a real-time basis; (2) Graphic windows to display the recorded data item by item in graphic; (3) Form windows to display the individual or team scores anytime when needed; (4) Windows to display the analyzed data in visualized form. The effect of the study is threefold: (1) It inputs all the game-related data on a real-time basis, which was impossible before and shows analyzed contents during the game enabling each tea manager o use; (2) In cse of TV broadcasting or newspaper articles, it explains objectively the situations of he game to the TV viewers or readers; (3) After the game, it provides importance information on each team's playing ability and individual player's technical improvement through data analysis.

미디어 환경변화에 따른 지상파 차세대 TV방송 활성화 정책방안 - ASTC 3.0 부가서비스(UHD모바일) 규제 완화와 지원을 중심으로-

  • 미디어 환경은 방송과 통신의 융합으로 모든 미디어는 언제(Anytime), 어디서나(Anywhere), 어느 단말기기(Anydevice)로도 원하는 콘텐츠를 자유롭게 이용할 수 있는 방향으로 발전하고 있다. 국내 미디어 정책의 주요 변화가 있었을 때는 1995년 케이블방송 도입, 2002년 위성방송 도입, 2008년 IPTV 도입, 2013년 OTT의 등장이다. 국내의 경우 2012년 지상파TV의 디지털 전환도 큰 정책변화 중의 하나였다. 그러나 국내 미디어 정책 및 제도는 미디어 환경변화와는 무관하게 여전히 매체별 접근에 기반한 미디어 산업 균형발전 논리를 추구하고 있다. 미디어 정책변화에 따른 지상파 차세대 TV방송(ATSC 3.0) 활성화에 대한 현안 사항을 쟁점별로 분석하여 정책방안을 제언하면 첫째, 아날로그 시대부터 유지되어온 국내 방송정책 및 법제의 플랫폼별 칸막이 규제를 풀어 지상파 플랫폼 규제를 완화하여야 한다. 둘째, 정부의 지상파 ATSC 3.0 부가서비스(이동)부터 규제 완화와 지원이 필요한 시점이다. 셋째, 지상파 차세대 ATSC 3.0에 대한 재난매체 지정이 필요하다. 마지막으로 기술중립적 서비스 허가체계인 Negative 규제방식을 도입하여 사업자의 기술결합과 기술혁신에 대한 유인 독려가 필요하다.
