780 MPa급 TRIP강의 저항 점용접부 강도 및 파단에 미치는 Paint Baking의 영향 (Effect of Paint Baking on the Strength and Failure of Spot Welds for 780 TRIP Steels)

  • Conventional fracture test of resistance spot weld had been performed without consideration of paint baking process in automobile manufacturing line. This study was aim to investigate the effect of paint baking on fracture mode and load carrying capacity in fracture test for resistance spot welded 780TRIP steels. With paint baking cycle after resistance spot welds, peel tests and microhardness were conducted on the as-welded and baked samples. Resistance spot welds in AHSS (Advanced High Strength Steels) are prone to display partial interfacial fractures during fracture test or vehicle crash. Baking cycle increased the load-carrying capacity of the resistance spot welded samples and improved the fracture appearance from partial to full button fracture for the L-type peel tests. Specially, the differences in fracture appearance are apparent when the nugget size of spot welds is small enough to produce the partial interfacial fracture. The comparison of macrohardness and microstructure between as-welded and baked samples showed that there are no large difference in change the fracture mode. However, the results of the instrumented indentation test suggested that fusion zone and HAZ of baked sample have less tensile and yield strength and proves that the tempering effects are applied and enhanced the resistance to fracture on welds with application of baking cycle.

  • Recent progress in manufacture of hot and cold rolled steel strip products and their applications were reviewed. The main trend in the technological development has been to meet the customers' requests for quality improvement and cost reduction. The weight reduction to reduce the fuel consumption is the main issue in the automotive industry and, therefore, various steels have been developed to improve formability as well as strength. The steels include super-EDDQ steels, bainitic steels, TRIP steels, etc. In the oil industry, efforts have been focused to improve strength together with either low temperature toughness or HIC/SSCC resistance. The packaging industry is also a highly competitive market, and steel and canmaking companies have worked cooperatively to develop cost-effective canmaking processes as well as high performance steels. This type of cooperation has also been found important in other industries such as the appliance and electronic industries for the benefits of both steelmakers and customers.

차체용 1.2GPa급 초고장력 TRIP강판의 저항 점 용접부 너겟 지름 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Prediction of Nugget Diameter of Resistance Spot Welded Part of 1.2GPa Ultra High Strength TRIP Steel for Vehicle)

  • 최근 자동차 산업에서는 연비향상 및 안전규제 강화에 따라 차량 경량화가 필수적으로 요구됨에 따라 DP강(Dual Phase steel), CP강(Complex Phase steel), MS강(Martensitic Steel), TRIP강(Transformation Induced Plasticity steel), TWIP강(Twinning Induced Plasticity steel) 등과 같은 인장강도 700MPa 이상인 초고장력강(Ultra High Strength Steel)의 적용이 증가하고 있다. 초고장력강을 차체에 적용하기 위해서는 용접공정이 필수적이며, 원가 측면에서 유리한 전기저항점용접(Resistance Spot Welding, RSW)이 차체 용접에서 80%이상으로 가장 많이 적용되고 있다. 초고장력강은 강도향상을 위해 합금원소 함량을 늘이기 때문에 일반적으로 용접성이 열악한 것으로 알려져 있다. 이러한 초고장력강의 저항점용접의 경우 적정 용접조건 영역이 축소되고 용접부에서 계면파단 및 부분계면파단이 발생하는 것으로 보고되어 있어 결함 및 품질을 실시간으로 예측할 수 있는 용접품질 판정 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 저항 점 용접을 수행할 때 검출되는 2차 회로 공정 변수를 이용하여 용접부의 동저항을 모니터링하고, 이 동저항 패턴에서 용접 품질 판단에 필요한 인자들을 추출하였다. 추출한 인자들을 상관분석하여 용접 품질과의 상관성을 파악하였으며, 상관성이 높은 인자들을 이용하여 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 이를 근거로 현장 적용이 가능한 회귀 모델을 제시하였다.

  • 음극전기분해법을 이용하여 고강도 DP강과 TRIP강에 수소를 강제 주입시켜, 시험편 내 수소량을 정량적으로 분석하였고, 표면하 미소경도분포 측정과 소형펀치시험 및 파단면 관찰을 통하여 수소주입량에 따른 고강도 박강판재의 수소침투 및 수소취화거동을 평가하고자 하였다. DP강은 강도가 클수록 높은 수소량으로 조사되었고, TRIP강은 DP강에 비해 주입된 수소량이 적은 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 미소경도분포 및 소형펀치시험에서도 DP강은 TRIP강에 비해 수소취성에 민감성이 높은 것으로 평가되었다.

0.14C-6.5Mn TRIP강의 기계적 성질에 미치는 제조공정의 영향 (Effect of Fabrication Processes on the Mechanical Properties of 0.14C-6.5Mn TRIP Steels)

  • 본 연구는 제조공정을 달리한 0.14C-6.5Mn강을 2상영역에서 역변태처리 하였을 때 다량의 잔류오스테나이트를 생성시키기 위한 열처리 조건을 제시하고 잔류오스테나이트의 생성과 관련하여 미세조직 관찰, C, Mn의 분배거동 및 기계적성질을 조사하였다. 잔류오스테나이트는 역변태처리시 오스테나이트내에 C, Mn의 확산으로 농축되어 안정화되며 연성향상에 크게 기여한다. 30%이상의 잔류오스테나이트를 확보하기 위해서는 6457에서 역변태처리하는 것이 효과적이지만, 잔류오스테나이트의 부피 분율과 기계적안정성을 고려하면 $620^{\circ}C$에서 열처리하는 것이 바람직하다. 냉연재의 강도.연성조합값은 3강종 모두 $620^{\circ}C$에서 1시간 역변태처리한 경우 4000kg/$\textrm{mm}^2$정도로 매우 우수하지만 고온에서는 연성감소로 인하여 그 값이 현저하게 저하하였다. 0.14C-6.5Mn계 TRIP강에서 잔류오스테나이트 생성과 기계적성질에 미치는 1.1%Si 첨가효과는 매우 미약하였다.

  • Because of the environmental problems, automotive companies are trying to reduce the weight of car body. Therefore, TRIP(TRansformation Induced Plasticity) steels, which have high strength and ductility have been developed. Welding process is a complex process; therefore deciding the optimal welding conditions on the basis of experimental data is an effective method. However, trial-and-error method to decide the optimal conditions requires too many experiments. To overcome these problems, response surface methodology was used. Response surface methodology is a collection of mathematical and statistical techniques that are used in the modeling and analysis of problems in which a response of interest is influenced by several variables and the objective is to optimize this response. This method was applied to the resistance spot welding process of the TRIP steel to optimize the welding parameters.

  • In recent years, TRIP steels which are composed of ferrite, bainite, and retained austenite have drawn much attention for automotive sheets due to excellent combination of strength and ductility. The effect of two-step isothermal heat treatment of bainitic transformation on microstructures, especially retained austenites and tensile properties in the conventional TRIP steel was investigated. A two-step isothermal heat treatment, in which 50% bainitic transformation occurred at high temperature, followed by bainitic transformation at low temperature, improves tensile properties, resulting from enhanced mechanical stability of retained austenite against external plastic deformation due to refinement of retained austenites, compared to single-step isothermal heat treatment.

  • The present study is aimed at developing the TRIP(transformation induced plasticity) aided high strength low carbon steel using reversion process. An excellent combination of elongation over 40% and tensile strength abut 100kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$ achieved in processing of 0.15C-0.5 Si-6Mn steel by slow heating to intercritial temperature region and accelerated cooling into room temperature. This good combination is caused by TRIP phenomena of retained austenite in steels during deformation. The stability of retained austenite is very important for the good ductility and it depends on the diffusion of carbon and manganeses during heat treatment. The accelerated cooling after holding at annealing temperature retards the formation of pearlite and provides the carbon enrichment in retained austenite in steel, resulting in the increase in elongation of the cold-rolled TRIP steel. On the other hand, heat treating the steel at 600$^{\circ}C$ for 5 hour before cold rolling increases elongation but reduces the amount of retained austenite after reversion processing. It is accounted that the heat treating is effective for the increase in the stability of retained austenite.

  • The hole flanging experiments are performed on a flat circular plates with a hole in the center and the flangeability and fracture behavior of TRIP steel and ferrite-bainite duplex steel were examined. Over the ranges of conditions investigated, the flangeability of ferrite-bainite duplex steel is better than TRIP steel and the term 'hole flanging capacity' introduced in this study. Fracture behavior of TRIP steel and ferrite-bainite duplex steel was characterized by petal formation at the edge of flange. In case of crack propagation, crack tip diversion that is supposed to be responsible for flangeability occurs more severely on HSLA Steel.
