Purpose: Nurses play an important role in ensuring patient rehabilitation and are involved in all aspects of multidimensional rehabilitation. Therefore, strengthening rehabilitation nursing education is vital to ascertain high-quality rehabilitation and optimum outcomes. This study examined the effectiveness of a new teaching reform-a modified Six-Sigma-based training program-against a conventional educational program on rehabilitation specialist nurses' core competencies, post-training performance, and satisfaction. Methods: A quasi-randomized controlled trial was conducted to assess the effectiveness of the modified training program. We recruited 56 learners from the 2020 training course at the Hunan Rehabilitation Specialist Nurse Training Base as the control group. Sixty learners from the base's 2021 training course were recruited as the intervention group. Data were collected in a consistent manner from both groups after the training program was implemented. Results: Those who underwent the modified training program showed better improvement in all core competencies than those who underwent the conventional training program (p < .05); the scores for theoretical knowledge, clinical nursing lectures, reviews, and nursing case management improved significantly following the teaching reform (p < 0.05). Further, overall satisfaction as well as base management and theoretical teaching satisfaction improved significantly (p < .05). Conclusion: The modified training program strengthens rehabilitation nurses' base management abilities; enhances their core competencies; expands their interest in and breadth, depth, and practicability of theoretical courses; and updates the teaching methods.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of the cognitive training program on cognitive function, stress and depression in geriatric hospitals. Methods: The subjects of the experimental group were 17 elderly patients who attended the cognitive training program in Geriatric Hospitals and the subjects of the control group were 15 elderly patients who attended in geriatric hospitals. The persons in training group must take cognitive training program for 4 weeks by 3 times a week. The Mini-mental State Examination Korea version (MMSE-K), Geriatric depression Scaleshort form-Korea version (GDS-K) and Korean Computerized Neurobehavioral Test (KCNT) were utilized to determine cognitive function, stress and depression. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA using SPSS/PC 12.0 program. Results: Cognitive function (t=-7.625, p=.000) in the elderly after receiving the cognitive training program was significantly more improved than before intervention. Also, Stress and depression (t=2.73, p=.004) was significantly more reduced than before the intervention. Conclusion: This cognitive training program was partially effective in improving cognitive function, neurobehavioral performance and reduce stress and depression. Therefore, it is recommended that this program be used in clinical practice as an effective nursing intervention in geriatric hospitals.
Teachers' beliefs about teaching English are reflected in their practices in the classroom. They influence on the students' attitude to English learning. Any teacher training program expects the trainees to change or modify their existing beliefs and attitude through the new ideas and information introduced by the program toward a desired direction. The present study describes a teacher training program for elementary school English teachers and compares the beliefs of the teachers about teaching English before and after the training. The subjects are the elementary school English teachers around Chungnam area who get a special training of 120 hours during January 1997. The investigation of the subjects' beliefs on English teaching is conducted through examining two journals of each subject before and after the training. The journals show the teachers' inner flow of thought, so teacher trainers are expected to get insight on their general instructional considerations and have implications on the future teacher training program through examining these journals. In addition, the journal writing itself gives the teachers opportunity to reflect their practice and rethink about their beliefs, and develop themselves as professional English teachers.
EBT has designed and implemented a training program that relies on evidence from events such as Flight Operation Quality Assurance (FOQA), accidents, and incidents specific to each airline. The goal is to enhance the overall skills of the flight crew. This involves assessing the capabilities of individual crew members and, based on the findings, providing additional training to address any shortcomings. To create a training program aligned with the objectives of EBT, this study focused on analyzing data from hard landing incidents in domestic airlines obtained through FOQA events. A practical EBT training program was then developed, specifically targeting adverse weather conditions. The program evaluates landing capabilities, and the results guide the supplementation of any deficiencies in the landing skills of each flight crew member, ultimately aiming to enhance their confidence.
Purpose: To identify the effects of a training program on the knowledge of, attitudes towards child infection, and infection prevention behaviors in staff of daycare centers. Methods: A nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design study was conducted with 34 staff of 6 daycare centers over 3 months. The staff in the 3 centers designated as the experimental centers received the training program weekly for 8 weeks. The program included on-site education for one and half hours and monitoring of infection prevention behaviors. Knowledge and attitudes of the staff were measured, and their infection prevention behaviors were observed and recorded by research assistants before and after the program. $X^2$-test, t-test, Fisher's exact test, and Mann-Whitney U-test with SPSS Win program were used to analyze the data. Results: The group of staff who received the training program recorded higher scores in knowledge, attitudes, and their infection prevention behaviors compared with staff in the control group. Conclusion: This finding suggests that the training program had a significant impact on knowledge, attitude, and infection prevention behaviors of staff which could prevent child infection in daycare centers. Nurses need to be involved in daycare centers for the health of the children, and they could intervene effectively in child infections by using this program.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of an empathy training program on the empathy and bullying's degree for bullies. The research hypotheses set to achieve this goal were as follows. 1. An experimental group that gets empathy training might make a better improvement in empathy immediately after the training than a control group that doesn't, and the effect of the training might last till eight weeks later. 2. An experimental group that undergoes empathy training might show a more significant decrease in bullying's degree for bullies immediately after the training than a control group that doesn't, and the effect of the training might last till eight weeks later. The subjects in this study were 20 children who were designated as bullies when 40 fifth graders from Y Elementary school and 31 children from S Elementary school in the city of T, south Gyeongsang province, took K-PNI. Those children were asked to tell about who were attackers and who were victims, and 10 children each were selected from the two elementary schools as bullies, who were respectively selected as an experimental group and a control group. The empathy training program used in this study was prepared by modifying the empathy training programs developed by Shin Gyeong- il(1994). That program was prepared to be appropriate at fifth grader level. To assess how much the selected children bullied their peers, Kim Seok-jin(1999)'s School Bullying Inventory was utilized. Besides, Song Ho-yeon's revised version to assess the change of counselee empathy was employed. In order to analyze the resulte, ANOVA was implemented. The conclusions obtained from the results and discussion of this study are as follows. First, the empathy training program was effective in changing the empathy of the bullies for the better, and their improved empathy remained the same eight weeks later. Second, the empathy training program had an effect in reducing bullying's degree for bullies, and there was no change in their reduced bullying's degree eight weeks later. Third, the empathy training program served to change their neglecting/ ostracizing and ridiculing/teasing behaviors. And the retention test that was implemented eight weeks later showed the effect of training remained unchanged. Fourth, the empathy training program was effective in changing their cursing/threatening actions according to the posttest results, but the retention test showed that its effect didn't keep on. Fifth, the empathy training program didn't bring any changes to their robbing/striking actions either immediately after the training or eight weeks later.
The purpose of this study lies in finding out a betterment of ongoing experimental training program in science for the secondary science teachers to increase their training ability more effectively. For this, from 2010 July to September, a preliminary study on secondary science experiment training, questionnaire on the satisfaction of 128 secondary teachers in U metropolitan city with the training program were carried out which were contributive to the preparation of a better plan for the training program to be helpful for the teachers at schools. Following are the study results. First, the class theme should be selected by the teachers who participate in the experiment for the year to raise their training ability for experiment class. Second, the direct activity of the teachers' joining in experiment training for the development of experiment training module, and the demonstration with the developed module-used experiment class need to be included to the program Third, the assessment for the demonstration of experiment attitude, the development process of experiment training module, would be more advisable compared with that for written examination for the teachers joined in the experiment training to concentrate more on the experimental activities and to get richer experiment experience As this study results show, the theme selection, class method and assessment method involved in ongoing experiment training need for betterment for the science teachers to apply it at schools and this improved experiment training program proposed by this study is suitable for that under a condition it has to be modified and supplemented to the distinct features of every city and province.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Self-Development training on the Human Relationship and Intrinsic Motivation for first-line nurse managers. Method: This was an empirical study on the Human Relationship and Intrinsic Motivation of Self Development Training. The researcher developed a new Self-Development Training Program, and the two-hour long training session was performed twice a week for each group. The program was performed for 4 session in two weeks. The subjects consisted with 24 nurse managers from C University Hospital in Seoul, Korea. The subjects were divided into two groups for the training. Two weeks before and 4 weeks after the training, subjects completed questionnaires that measured Human Relationship and Intrinsic Motivation. Analysis was completed by using SPSS PC 10.0 for percentile, mean, standard deviation and paired t-test. Result: The results of this study showed that Self-Development Training Program resulted in a significant effects on the Human Relationship. But the Intrinsic Motivation was not significantly affected by the program. Conclusion: This Self-Development training program had a positive effect on the Human Relationship and Intrinsic Motivation.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the degree of satisfaction of the clinical training program and teaching efficacy and their relationships among nursing faculty who joined clinical training program. Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive study, seventy three nursing faculty participated in the clinical training program sponsored by Korean Academy Society of Nursing Education from July 2010 to February 2012. Collected data were analyzed by t-test, $x^2$, and Pearson's correlation coefficient through the SPSS WIN12.0 program. Results: The mean score of satisfaction of the clinical training program was $3.88{\pm}0.56$, and $4.24{\pm}0.49$ for teaching efficacy. Teaching efficacy showed associations with Major area (F=2.78, p=.014) and Goal of participation (F=3.39, p=.039). The results presented that satisfaction of the clinical training program positively correlated with teaching efficacy (r=.56, p<.001). Conclusion: This study reports high satisfaction of a clinical training program and teaching efficacy for nursing faculty. In order to increase the satisfaction of the program, there is a need to develop a client-focused program that meets the goals of participation and major areas for nursing faculty.
Purpose: Balance and walking ability are important elements of functional independence for people with stroke and are major goals in rehabilitation. These abilities require trunk performance, but most chronic stroke patients reach a plateau in their rehabilitation. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a self-training trunk program to improve balance and walking ability in people with stroke, and to suggest such a self-training program for integrated rehabilitation of people with stroke. Methods: The study recruited 7 people with stroke. The subjects performed trunk training for 30 min per day, 6 days per week, for 3 weeks. Participants were measured on the Trunk Impairment Scale (TIS), the Berg Balance Scale (BBS), the Korean Activities-specific Balance Confidence (K-ABC) scale, the Falls Efficacy Scale (FES), the Functional Gait Assessment (FGA), the 6 Minute Walk Test (6MWT) and a gait analysis to measure the training effects. Statistical analysis used the Wilcoxon signed-rank test as a non-parametric statistical test. Results: TIS was not significantly different after the self-training trunk program, but BBS (p>0.05), K-ABC, and FES were significantly improved after the training program (p<0.05). Furthermore, the 6MWT, stride/height %, and one-leg stance were significantly improved after the training program (p<0.05), but cadence, stance, and swing duration were not significantly different after the training (p>0.05). Conclusion: These results suggest that a self-training trunk program should be integrated into stroke rehabilitation to improve balance and walking ability, and further research is needed to develop the program to be more effective for chronic stroke patients.
