The Effect of Combined Acupuncture Treatment on Acute Ankle Sprain: Case Series (급성 족관절 염좌에 대한 복합 침치료의 효과: 사례군 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to report the effect of combined acupuncture treatment on acute ankle sprain patients. The subjects included in this study were 15 acute ankle sprain patients who visited Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine from Oct. 15th, 2012 to Feb. 8th, 2013. We treated 15 patients with combined acupuncture treatment. The treatment consisted of Hwangrunhaedok-tang (Huanglianjiedutang) pharmacupuncture, electroacupuncture (applied to GB39, ST36 on the affected side), acupuncture (applied to TE17, SI6 on the unaffected side with Dong-Qi therapy). To assess the effect of treatment, the numeric rating scale (NRS) was applied before and after treatment. After first combined acupuncture treatment, the NRS scores significantly decreased from $8.33{\pm}0.94$ to $2.26{\pm}0.44$ (p<0.01). We suggested that Combined acupuncture treatment are effective and useful on acute ankle sprain. And, further studies will be needed.

체외성숙 배지에 amino acid 첨가가 배발달율과 세포수에 미치는 영향

  • 아미노산은 수정란의 체외생산에 있어서 배발달에 유효하게 작용한다. 이러한 이유로 체외배양 단계에 아미노산 첨가에 관한 보고는 많지만, 체외성숙 단계에서의 아미노산 효과와 관련된 보고는 소수이다. 본 실험에서는 먼저 체외성숙 배지에 NEAA와 EAA군들의 첨가 농도가 PB 출현율, 배발달율 그리고 생산된 배반포의 세포수에 미치는 영향과 더불어 새로운 아미노산원으로 LAH의 효과를 검토하였다. 체외성숙을 위한 난포란은 도축 한우 난소에서 2-8mm의 가시난포로부터 회수하였다. 체외성숙용 배지는 10% FBS가 첨가된 CRlaa 용액을 사용하였고, 실험1에서는 NEAA와 EAA(20$\mu l$/ml)군을 각각 $\times$l (NEAA:10$\mu l$/ml, EAA:20$\mu l$/ml), $\times$2 및 $\times$4를, 실험2에서는 LAH를 각각 1, 5 및 10 mg/ml를 첨가하였다. 체외수정은 fer-TALP 용액을, 체외배양은 CRlaa 용액을 배양 2일째까지는 0.3% BSA를, 그 이후에는 10% FBS와 난관상피세포를 첨가하여 사용하였다. 그리고 배양 8일째 확장배반포의 세포수를 조사하기 위하여 이중형광염색을 실시하였다. 통계분석은 $X^2$-test를 이용하였다. 실험 1에서 NEAA와 EAA 첨가 농도에 따른 PB 출현율은 $\times$l 첨가군(46.6%)이 대조군(29.9%)에 비하여 유의적으로 높았다. 수정을, 8세포기 및 배반포까지 발달율은 비슷한 경향이었으나, $\times$l 첨가군이 가장 높았다. 한편 ICM 세포수가 아미노산 첨가 농도의 높을수록 증가하는 경향이었고, 특히 $\times$4 첨가군($23.9 \mu 3.9$)이 대조군($14.8 \mu 2.5$)에 비하여 유의적(P<0.05)으로 높았다. 실험 2에서 LAH 첨가에 따른 핵성숙율은 5mg 첨가군, 배반포까지 발달율은 1mg 첨가군(25.9%)이 각각 가장 높았다. 배양 8일째 배반포의 세포수에 있어서 총세포수와 TE 세포수는 차이가 없었으나, ICM 세포수가 l0mg 첨가군에서 가장 높았다. 본 실험 결과에서 체외성숙 배지에 NEAA와 EAA 첨가가 배발달율에는 효과가 없었지만, 첨가농도의 증가에 따라 ICM 세포수가 증가하였다. 한편 체외성숙 배지에 LAH 첨가는 첨가 농도가 높을수록 배발달율은 낮았지만 ICM 세포수는 증가하였다.

Photoaddition Reactions of Silyl Ketene Acetals with Aromatic Carbonyl Compounds: A New Procedure for β-Hydroxyester Synthesis

  • Photochemical reactions of aromatic carbonyl compounds with silyl ketene acetals have been explored. Irradiation of acetonitrile or benzene solutions containing aryl aldehydes or ketones in the presence of silyl ketene acetals is observed to promo te formation of ${\beta}-hydroxyester$, 2,2-dioxyoxetane and 3,3-dioxyoxetane products. The ratios of these photoproducts, which arise by competitive single electron transfer (SET) and classical Paterno-Buchi mechanistic pathways, is found to be dependent on the degree of methyl-substitution on the vinyl moieties of the ketene acetals in a manner which reflects expected alkyl substituent effects on the oxidation potentials of these electron rich donors. An analysis of the product distribution arising by irradiation of a solution containing butyrophenone (6) and the silyl ketene acetal 9, derived from methyl isobutyrate, provides an estimate of the rate constants for the competitive Norrish type Ⅱ, SET and Paterno-Buchi processes occuring. Finally, sequences involving silyl ketene acetal-aryl aldehyde or ketone photoaddition followed by 2,2-dioxyoxetane hydrolysis represent useful procedures for Claisen-condensation type, ${\beta}-hydroxyester$ synthesis.

Lysophosphatidylethanolamine (LPE) Improves Fruit Size, Color, Quality and Phytochemical Contents of Sweet Cherry c.v. '0900 Ziraat'

  • Lysophosphatidylethanolamine (LPE) affects the quality of flowers, fruits, and other horticultural products. Studies have provided evidence that LPE can accelerate ripening of fruits and prolong shelf-life at the same time. In this study, the influence of LPE on anthocyanin accumulation and phytochemical characteristics of sweet cherry was investigated. LPE ($10mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$) was applied to a commercial sweet cherry c.v. '0900 Ziraat' orchard two and four weeks before harvest for two treatment years (2011 and 2012). Preharvest applications of LPE resulted in significant improvement in both pomological and phytochemical attributes at harvest. LPE treatment led to a 17% increase in fruit weight and a 6% increase in soluble solid content when averaged over two experimental years. Fruit phytochemical content and antioxidant capacity were increased significantly. The average total phenolic content of LPE-treated fruits for the two years was $703{\mu}g$ gallic acid equivalent (GAE)/g fresh weight (g FW) compared to $569{\mu}g$ GAE/g FW in the untreated control. Fruits treated with LPE had a 27% and 16% more anthocyanin than the control fruits in 2011 and 2012. Antioxidant capacity of fruits, as measured by TEAC (Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity) assay, was 12.5 and $11.4{\mu}mol$ TE/g FW in LPE-treated and untreated control fruits, respectively, when averaged over two experimental years. Our results suggest that preharvest application of LPE may have the potential to increase anthocyanin accumulation, improve fruit quality and enhance phytochemical characteristics of sweet cherries.

Comparison of Relative Antioxidant Capacity and Antiperoxidation Activity of Traditional Medicines in Vitro

  • To investigate the antioxidant capacity of traditional Korean medicines, water extracts from 57 species were tested on their antioxidant activity using radical scavenging effects against ABTSㆍ+. Of which, Rhus javanica, Caesalpinia sappan, Rosa rugosa, Spatholobus suberectus, and Magnolia obovata showed strong antioxidant capacities at 10㎍ concentration. Therefore, antioxidant capacities of 5 traditional medicine extracts in the different concentration (1㎍, 5㎍, and 10㎍) were determined. The 5 traditional medicine extracts was detected in antioxidant capacity dose dependently. R. javanica was showed the highest antioxidant capacity, the antioxidant activity at 1 ㎍ of herbal extract being 0.85 mM TE. At the same time, the antiperoxidation effects of these 5 medicines were determined. Lipid peroxidation in brain homogenates induced by NADPH and ADP-Fe/sup 2+/ was strong inhibited by S, suberectus, R. rugosa, and M. obovata. Extract of C. sappan was showed the highest inhibition against lipid peroxidation compared with 4 herbal extracts in vitro. These traditional medicines are a potent antioxidant capacity and antiperoxidation activity, further investigation into the in vivo antioxidant therapeutic potential for treatment of human disorders such as Alzheimer's disease.

A Review of Dementia in Korean Medicine during the last ten years (최근 10년간 치매에 대한 한의학적 연구 동향 고찰)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to indicate further research direction in dementia by examining recent Korean-medicine journals. Method: We have reviewed eleven different journals that have been published from 1997 to 2006. Result 1.In philological study paper, cerebrovascular dementia is most common type of dementia and age, sex, past history have influence on the attack of disease. Introduced medical treatment to dementia of Korean medicine are Removing wind(祛風), Be in the peace(安神), Refreshing lung and raising blood(淸肺養血) etc. 2.According to the research paper, a prognosis of dementia which Is mixed(Alzheimer type and cerebrovascular type) is bad. Sinmac(申脈)-BL.62), Jeohae(照海)-Kl.06), waegwan(外關)-TE.05), naegwan(內關)-PC.6) among the palmacgyohoeheol(八脈交會穴) have good effect in medical treatment. Medical treatment which is based on chaejil(體質)) shows up to be more effective. Also many medicines have good effect, especially chongmyung-tang(聰明湯)) and chongmyung-tang-gamibang(聰明湯加味方)) have good effect on decreasing memory caused by nerve cell degeneration. Conclusion: The Korean medical treatments have many advantage in taking the dementia so the researches about this are more needed.

A Study on Hydrogeologic, Hydrodispersive Characterization and Groundwater Contamination Assessment of an H-site (H 연구지역의 수리지질-수리분산특성과 지하수 오염가능성 평가연구)

  • A comprehensive in-situ tests are performed to define the hydrogeologic and hydrodispersive characteristics such as hydraulic conductivities, longitudinal dispersivity, and average linear velocities as well as conducting flow-net analysis at the study area. The results show that the study area is very heterogeneous so that hydraulic conductivities range from $6.45{\times}10^{-7}$ to $1.15{\times}10^{-5}m/s$ with average linear velocities of 0.34~0.62m/day. Whole groundwater in upper-most aquifer is discharging into the sea with specific discharge rate of $7.2{\times}10^{-3}$ to $1.3{\times}10^{-2}m/day$. The longitudinal dispersivity of the aquifer is estimated about 4.8m through In-situ injection phase test. The area is highly vulnerable to potential contaminant sources due to it's high value of DRASTIC index ranging from 139 to 155 and also under water table condition with very shallow groundwater level. To delineate contaminant plumes of toxic NaOH and carcinogenic benzene when these substances are assumed to be leaked through existing TSDF at the study area by unexpected accidents or spill, Aquifer Simulation Model (ASM) including Flow and Transport Model is used. Te simulated results reveal that the size of NaOH plume after 5 years continuous leak is about $250{\times}100m$ and benzene after 10 years, $490{\times}100m$. When the groundwater is abstracted about 50 days, which is maximum continuously sustained no-precipitation period during 30 years, with pumping rate of $100m^3/day$, THWELL program shows that the groundwater is adversly affected by sea water intrusion.

Hepatic Uptake and Stability of Acyclovir-Asialofetuin Conjugate (아시클로버-아시알로페투인 접합체의 간 포획 및 안정성)

  • For the purpose of improving the chemotherapeutic index of acyclovir(ACV), it was conjugated with asialofetuin(AF), which has been reported to enter into hepatocytes. When $[H^3]$ acyclovir in itself or its conjugate were administered to rats, the latter was taken up more selectively by the liver than any other tissues. The stability of ACVMP-AF conjugate in phosphate buffer (pH 5.0) and rat liver homogenate showed a pseudo-first order profile. ACVMP-AF, however, was relatively stable in pH7.4 phosphate buffer and rat plasma. The conjugate was added to the isolated rat hepatocyte and cellular uptake was monitored by scintillation counting for up to 6 hours at $37^{\circ}C$. Hepatocytes incubated with the conjugate exhibited radioactivities significantly enhanced over control levels dose-dependently, i.e., a 3-40 fold increase in radioactivities was observed over controls at the conjugate concentrations of $0.1-10\;{\mu}g/ml$. The AUQ in the liver, kidney, spleen, intestine and lung was higher in treatment with ACVMP-AF than that in treatment with ACV. In treatment with ACVMP-AF, the weighted-average overall drug targeting efficiency(Te) for the liver was higher than in treatment with ACV(57.00 vs 13.31 %), and the weighted-average tissue exposure(Re) was 5.03 for the liver. These results indicated that ACVMP-AF conjugate was rapidly taken up by hepatocytes and could be an efficient and selective hepatic targeting system.

  • Electrical characteristics of two types of 20 GHz Push-Push GaAs MESFET dielectric resonator oscillators having Wilkinson and T-junction power combiners for the output stage have been investigated. The Push-Push oscillator for suppressing fundamental frequency 10 GHz and enhancing 20 GHz has been designed and realized in microstrip configuration on 20 mil thick RT-Duroid(${\varepsilon}_r$=2.52) teflon substrate. Two different types of power combiners, T-junction and Wilkinson, have been considered. Whenever one type of the combiners has been adopted for the output circuit, output power, phase noise and fundamental frequency suppression characteristics of the oscillator have been measured. When the Wilkinson power combiner was used, a maximum output power of 5.67 dBm, a phase noise of -105.5 dBc/Hz at an offset frequency of 100 kHz and a fundamental frequency suppression of -29.33 dBc have been measured. When the T-junction power combiner was used, a maximum output power of -1.17 dBm, a phase noise of -102.2 dBc/Hz at an offset frequency of 100 kHz and a fundamental frequency suppression of -17.84 dBc have been measured.

  • The concept of a hyperpresmtation, as an extension of a hypermedia, is the presentation in which time-varying multimedia presentations are dynamically linked together and a hyperlink's context can be changed over time at any time during a continuous presentation. Problems caused by integrating the hyperpresentation into an existing multimedia system which handles a sequential presentation only are, how to describe the hyperprcsentation, how to set up a hyperlink on a continuous media, and how to check the consistency of the synchronized presentations. In this paper. a new synchronization description method for the hyperpresentation and a method for setting a hyper link on a continuous media during" presentation are proposed after havin!; SHrvey of existing methods, The proposed method deals with only the DC value in a stream ut a DCT based compressed data for checking a condition of te link. Finally, the method for checking the consistency of mixed presentations before actual play of the hnlerpresentation is described. Proposed methods are implemented on MuX(Multimedia IO Server) where a sample scenario is tested.
