  • Recent development of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment enables interventional radiology (IVR) as diagnosis and treatment under MRI usage. In this paper, a new methodology for magnetic resonance (MR) scanner to apply not only diagnostic equipment but for treatment one is discussed. The temperature measuring procedure under MR is to measure phase shift of $T_1$, which is the longitudinal relaxation time of proton, for the position inside a sample material with the application of pulsed RF for heating inside the sample as artificial dielectrics. The result shows the possibility to apply MR as temperature measuring equipment and as a heating equipment for applying such as hyperthermia heating modality.

  • Experimental results for viscous flow of poly (${\gamma}$ -methyl L-glutamate) solutions have been published elsewhere. The data of $[{\eta}]^f / [{\eta}]^0$ are expressed by the following equation, $\frac{[{\eta}^f]}{[{\eta}^{\circ}]}=1-\frac{A}{\eta^\circ}{1-\frac{sin^{-1}[{\beta}_2(f/{\eta}_0)\;{e}xp\;(-c_2f^2/{\eta}_0^2kT)]}{{\beta}_2f/{\eta}_0}$ (A1) where $[{\eta}]^f\; and\; [{\eta} ]^0$ are the intrinsic viscosity at shear stress f and zero, respectively, $ A{\equiv}lim\limits_{C{\rightarrow}0}[(1/C)(X_2/{\alpha}_2)({\beta}_2/{\eta}_0)],{\eta}_0$ viscosity of the solvent, ${\beta}_2$ is the relaxation time of flow unit 2, $c_2$ is a constant related to the elasticity of flow unit 2. The theoretical derivation of Eq.(A1) is given in the text. The experimental curves of $[{\eta}]^f / [{\eta}]^0$ vs. log f are compared with the theoretical curves calculated from Eq.(A1) with good results. Eq.(A1) is also applied to non-biopolymeric solutions, and it was found that in the latter case $c_2 = 0.$ The reason for this is explained in the text. The problems related to non-Newtonian flows are discussed.

  • In this paper, a structural analysis for the pressurized water reactor(PWR) spent nuclear fuel disposal canister which is deposited under the 500m deep underground is carried out to predict the creep deformation of the canister while the underground water and swelling bentonite pressure are applied on the canister. Usually the creep deformation may be caused due to the Pressure and the high heat applied to the canister even though additional external loads are not applied to the canister. These creep deformations depend on the time. In this paper, oかy the underground water and bentonite swelling Pressure are considered for the creep deformation analysis of the canister, because the heat distribution inside canister due the spent fuel is not simple and depends on time. A proper creep function is adopted for the creep analysis. The creep analysis is carried out during $10^8$ seconds. The creep analysis results show that the creep strains are very small and these strains occur usually in the lid and bottom of the canister not in the cast iron insert. A much smaller strain is found in the cast iron insert. Hence, the creep deformation doesn't affect the structural safety of the canister, and also the creep stress which shows the stress relaxation phenomenon doesn't affect the structural safety of the canister.

  • In conventional line scan angiography, flow signal has been enhanced by the time_of_flight effect while the signal from stationary tissues has been suppressed by the saturation rf pulse followed by spoiling gradients. Due to the inhomogeneous rf field and the tissue dependent T1 relaxation time, however, stationary tissues can not be suppressed completely or uniformly, and the remnant stationary signal deteriorates the resultant angiogram. Here, the complete cancellation of stationary tissues is made possible by the spectral analysis of a series of repetitive line images of the same slice. The Fourier transformation of a set of line images results in the spectrum images, where stationary tissues are collected into the dc component while arteries are included in harmonic components because of the variation of the flow velocity and the resultant flow signal in arteries according to the cardiac cycle. The summation of harmonic components excluding the dc component results in the angiogram of arteries with the complete cancellation of stationary tissues.

  • Indium tin oxide (ITO) Thin films were grown on Non-alkarai glass Substrates by PVD method and Subsequently Subjected to ($100^{\circ}C-350^{\circ}C$) Thermal Annealing (TA) In Nitr Oxygen ambinent. Most of all, The effect of TA treatment on the structural properties were studied by using X-Ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy, while optical properties were studied by UV-Transmittance measurements. After TA treatment, the XRD spectra have shown an effective relaxation of the residual compressive stress, As a result, XRD peaks increase of the intensity and narrowing of full width at half-maximun (FWHM). In addtion The microstructure, The surface morphology, the optical transmittance changed and improved, and we investigated The effects of temperature, Time and atmosphere during the TA on the structural and electrical properties of the ITO/glass on TA at $300^{\circ}C$. As a results, the films are highly transparent (80%~89%) in visible region. AFM analysis shows that the films are very smooth with root mean square surface roughness 0.58nm -2.75nm thickness film. It is observed that resistivity of the films drcreases T0 $1.05{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cmt$ $6.06{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$, while mobility increases from $152cm^2/vs$ to $275cm^2/vs$.

  • Purpose of this study is to compare the signal intensity (SI) and CNR with T1 weighted image using FLASH at 3T abdominal MRI by varying flip angle (FA). Totally 20 patients (male : 12, female : 8, Age : $28{\sim}63$ years with mean : 51) were examined by 3 Tesla MR scanner (Magnetom Tim Trio, SIEMENS, Germany) with 8 channel body array coil between september and October 2008. Imaging parameters were as follows : FLASH sequence, TR : 120 ms, TE : minimum, FOV (field of view) : $360{\times}300\;mm$, Matrix : $256{\times}224$, slice : 6 mm, scan time : 15 sec and Breath-hold technique. Abdominal image, with a 50 ml syringe filled with water placed in the FOV measuring the water signal, were acquired with varying FA through $10^{\circ}$ to $90^{\circ}$ with $10^{\circ}$ interval. SI's were measured three times at liver parenchyme, water, spleen and background and averaged. The CNR's were measured between the ROIs (region of interest). Statistic analysis was performed with ANOVA test using SPSS software (version 17.0). Less than FA $30^{\circ}$, abdominal images were severely inhomogeneity. Especially, T1 effect of water signal was weak. As the flip angle increased, the signal intensity decreased at all the regions. Especially, flip angle of the highest signal intensity was observed with $40^{\circ}$ at the liver parenchyme, $20^{\circ}$ at water, $30^{\circ}$ at the spleen, respectively. The CNR between liver and water was -60.92 at FA $10^{\circ}$ and 15.16 at FA $80^{\circ}$. The CNR between liver and spleen was -3.18 at FA $10^{\circ}$ and 9.65 at $80^{\circ}$. In conclusion, FA $80^{\circ}$ is optimal for T1 weighted effect using FLASH pulse sequence at 3.0 T abdominal MRI.

  • Pool boiling experiments were carried out to study the effect of electric field on nucleate boiling heat transfer. CFC-11 and its alternative HCFC-123 were used as working fluids. Boiling on both single tube and a bundle of five tubes was investigated. Heat flux varied from 5 to $25kW/m^2$ while the applied voltage changed from 0 to 1kV. The results showed that at low heat flux where boiling was not present or very weak, electric field-induced forced convection helped increase the heat transfer coefficients of CFC-11 and HCFC-123 significantly(4-15 times increase). However, at higher heat flux, nucleate boiling of CFC-11 which is a highly dielectric fluid, was not affected significantly by the application of electric field. In contrast to CFC-11, even at high heat flux, nucleate boiling of CFC-11 which has a relatively larger electric conductivity than CFC-11, was vigorously increased up to 2-4 times. The additional power required to apply the electric field was 1-2% of the total power consumption by the heater. The increase in overall heat transfer coefficient of evaporators with HCFC -123 was about 40%, suggesting a considerable reduction in evaporator size with EHD technique.

  • The purpose of this study is to increase contrast to noise ratio(CNR) in myocardial viability test by using contrast agent which highly content gadolinium(1mmol/mL) maximizing diagnostic value. This research method that four hundred four patients were underwent the MRI scanning two hundred eighty four of them were injected commercial contrast media which have 0.5mmol/L and the rest of them were injected new contrast media(gadobutrol) which have 1mmol/mL of molarity to study the contrast difference depending on the molarity of the contrast agent signal intensities of normal ventricle and left ventricle were measured to compare and evaluate signal to noise ratio(SNR) and CNR of the images. As result, 1mmol/mL contrast agent showed higher SNR by 25.13% in myocardium and 30.74% in left ventricle. CNR was proved to be better in 1mmol/mL contrast agent by 31.29%. The results above were all statistically meaningful. Therefore, contrast agent contenting more gadolinium which was 1mmol/mL in this study, could more effectively shorten T1 relaxation time, increase the signal intensity and at the same time maximize CNR and diagnostic value. This study firstly report the usefulness of 1mmol/mL contrast agent in patients allegedly suffering cardiac diseases and it is considered to increase diagnostic value.
