  • This article provides strength estimation of T-joint area which made of composite material. Inner and outer structures of medium range surveillance radar are all made of sandwich structure which is made with composite material(CFRP) and aluminum honeycomb core. Since the radar is voluminous and has very complex inner structure, the whole structure cannot be made as one piece. Therefore, usage of T-joints is inevitable. Since some of stress concentration areas were located around T-joint area, series of strength estimations were conducted. Three different configurations were tested to improve mechanical properties(primarily on strength). The results show an improvement on strength to meet calculated strength on stress concentrated T-joint area.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of aquatic gait training on plantar foot pressure, foot kinesiology and gait speed in right hemiplegic patients. The subject were 20 stroke patients who elapsed from 12 month to 24 month after stroke(aquatic gait training group(n=10), land gait training group(n=10)). This study measured plantar foot pressure, toe out angle, subtalar joint angle, gait speed from data of gate on 2m long measuring apparatus for RS-scan system(RS scan Ltd. German). This experiment performed in twice, before and after the aquatic gait training and land gait training. Collected data were statistically analyzed by SPSS Ver. 12.0 using descriptive statistics, paired t-test. Aquatic gait training group had more variety pressure area on their foot such as T1(Toe 1), HM(Heel medial), and HL(Heel lateral). But motion of subtalar joint flexibility and toe out angle decreased considerably and gate speed also increased. According to the result, aquatic gait training is considered as more effective way in foot stability and normal gait pattern than land gait training.

  • Purpose : A new inhomogeneity correction method based on two-point Dixon sequence is proposed to obtain water and fat images at 0.35T, low field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system. Materials and Methods : Joint phase-magnitude density function (JPMF) is obtained from the in-phase and out-of-phase images by the two-point Dixon method. The range of the water signal is adjusted from the JPMF, and 3D inhomogeneity map is obtained from the phase of corresponding water volume. The 3D inhomogeneity map is used to correct the inhomogeneity field iteratively. Results : The proposed water-fat imaging method was successfully applied to various organs. The proposed 3D inhomogeneity correction algorithm provides good performances in overall multi-slice images. Conclusion : The proposed water-fat separation method using JPMF is robust to field inhomogeneity. Three dimensional inhomogeneity map and the iterative inhomogeneity correction algorithm improve water and fat imaging substantially.

  • In the aging society, TKRA is steadily increased because of joint diseases. Artificial joint used in TKRA generates metal artifacts in the MRI. Metal artifact may affect diagnosis. In study, We are going to minimize the effect of metal artifact to improve the value of diagnosis by changing the sequence and the type of artificial joint(Co-Cr, Ni-Ti). 1.5T AVANTO, plastic containers and each of the artificial joint (Normal, Co-Cr, NiTi) were used. After the artificial joints fixed in a paper cup was inserted in a plastic container of cylindrical, Signal intensity was measured. To obtain strong and uniform signal intensity, the plastic container was filled with water. We changed Sequences(T1 TSE, T2 TSE, PD TSE) and obtained an Axial image. After excepting the maximum and minimum values, We calculated the average of SNR, CNR and PSNR. Consequently, The SNR, CNR value of PD TSE are measured higher than these of T1 TSE, T2 TSE and The PSNR of Co-Cr is higher than this of Ni-Ti. The SNR of Co-Cr is similar to the SNR of normal comparing this of Ni-Ti. As a result, Using sequence of PD Tse and Co-Cr alloy is considered to be useful.

  • Many time-frequency analysis techniques have been used for motion compensated ISAR(Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar) imaging. In this work, a novel time-frequency(T-F) analysis called evolutionary adaptive wavelet transform (EAWT) and evolutionary adaptive joint time-frequency(EAJTF) procedure are used for the motion compensated ISAR image. To show the validity of our algorism, we use simulated MIG-25 and Boeing 727(B-727) ISAR data. From the constructed ISAR image using EAWT and EAJTF, we show that our algorithm can obtain a clear motion compensated ISAR image such as other time-frequency analysis techniques.

  • In this study, for assessment of degenerative knee joint cartilage disease we acquired images by fat suppressed 3D spoiled gradient recalled (SPGR) and fat suppressed 3D $T2^*$ weighted imaging techniques. To do a quantitative evaluation, the knee joint cartilage was divided into medial femoral cartilage (MFC), medial tibial cartilage (MTC), lateral femoral cartilage (LFC), lateral femoral cartilage (LFC) and patella cartilage (Pat) to measure their respective signal intensity values, signal-to-noise ratio, and contrast-to-noise ratio. As for the measured values, statistical significance between two techniques was verified by using Mann-Whitney U-Test. To do a qualitative evaluation, two radiologists have examined images by techniques after which image artifact, cartilage surface, tissue contrast, and depiction of lesion distinguishing were evaluated based on 4-point scaling (1: bad, 2: appropriate, 3: good, 4: excellent), and based on the result, statistical significance was verified by using Kappa-value Test. 3.0T MR system and HD T/R 8ch knee array coil were used to acquire images. As a result of a quantitative analysis, based on SNR values measured by using two imaging techniques, MFC, LFC, LTC, and Pat showed statistical significance (p < 0.05), but MTC did not (p > 0.05). As a result of verifying statistical significance for measured CNR value, MFC, LFC, and Pat showed statistical significance (p < 0.05), while MTC and LTC did not show statistical significance (p > 0.05). As a result of a qualitative analysis, by comparing mean values for evaluated image items, 3D $T2^*$ weighted Image has indicated a slightly higher value. As for conformance verification between the two observers by using Kappa-value test, all evaluated items have indicated statistically significant results (p < 0.05). 3D $T2^*$ weighted technique holds a clinical value equal to or superior to 3D SPGR technique with respect to evaluating images, such as distinguishing knee joint cartilages, comparing nearby tissues contrast, and distinguishing lesions.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of shoulder rehabilitation exercise convergence program. This study used a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. A sample of 58 patients undergoing shoulder surgery, was included. The experimental group was given shoulder rehabilitation exercise convergence program including audiovisual education, shoulder rehabilitation exercise and exercise monitoring. The data were collected using a structured questionnaire and measured range of motion(ROM) of shoulder joint and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2-test$, t-test and ANCOVA. The experimental group reported significantly lower shoulder pain than control group(p<.001). Shoulder joint ROM and exercise self-efficacy were significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group(p=.038; p<.001). This findings indicate that shoulder rehabilitation exercise convergence program can be an effective intervention for shoulder surgery patients. Continued development of convergence interventions for patients undergoing various conditions in practice, is suggested.

  • Generally, a camera isn't located at the center of display in a tele-presence system and it causes an incorrect eye contact between speakers which reduce the realistic feeling during the conversation. To solve this incorrect eye contact problem, we newly propose an intermediate view reconstruction algorithm using both a color camera and a depth camera and applying for the depth image based rendering (DIBR) algorithm. In the proposed algorithm, an efficient hole filling method using the arithmetic mean value of neighbor pixels and an efficient boundary noise removal method by expanding the edge region of depth image are included. We show that the generated eye-contacted image has good quality through experiments.

  • Purpose It is hard to obtain high quality images of knee and T.M joint because of a lot of soft tissues in the knee and T.M joint area. Most conventional system for high resolution scintigraphy was used by 4 mm aperture pinhole collimator. Performance comparison of high-resolution pinhole SPECT for Micro deluxe phantom using conventional system. the aim of this study is to evaluate performance of each aperture according to the diameter size and the usefulness of 24-hour delayed bone scintigraphy. Materials and Methods In this study 6 mm, 8 mm diameter pinhole collimators were mounted on Siemens E.CAM systems. In order to evaluate performance evaluation of each aperture and Micro Deluxe phantom was used for performance comparison of conventional SPECT system, Projection data were obtained with 9 degree increment per 30 second. Transverse images were reconstructed using dedicated OSEM algorithm with recovery of detector blurring. $^{99m}Tc-HDP$ source was used for 24-hour delayed bone scintigraphy. Results The knee joint images obtained with 24-hour delay were improved more than those obtained with 3-hour delay in our study. The 6 mm and 8 mm pinhole collimators FWHM have improved by 28% SNR and Uniformity have improved by 35%, Contrast has improved by 7% in 24-hour delayed knee joint image. While in 24-hour delayed T.M joint image of the 6 mm and 8 mm pinhole collimators FWHM have decreased by 60% SNR has decreased by 20% and Uniformity has decreased by 25%, Contrast has decreased significantly. Conclusion Pinhole collimators with 6 mm and 8 mm diameter could offer a superior performance for 24-hour delayed bone scintigraphy. The use of 24-hour delayed image provides additional benefits for pinhole scintigraphy of knee joint. Therefore, we expect that it is useful for precise diagnosis of knee joint and it is applicable to others joint imaging.
