  • Recently, it was predicted that the size of offshore markets will grow as gas prices edge up. This paper presents experimental results for using strings as a suppression device on a circular cylinder and discusses the various data. A test model was used to investigate the role of strings by varying the thickness of the strings used to suppress a cylinder's lateral force taking into account the effect of turbulence promoted. A substantial amount of experimental data were taken from experiments performed on cylinders at Reynolds number up to a maximum value of $10^5$. The suppression of vortex shedding and a lateral force reduction of up to 70% were observed for the cylinder with strings.

  • The Internet of Things has attracted considerable research attention in recent years. In order for the new IoT technology to be widely used, the reliability and protection of information is required. IoT systems are very vulnerable to physical security due to their easy accessibility. Along with the development of SoC technology, many operating systems have been developed and many new operating systems have been introduced. In this paper, we describe the vulnerability analysis results for operating systems running on the ARMv7 Thumb Architecture hardware platform. For the recently introduced "Windows 10 IoT Core" operating system, I implemented the Zero-Day Attack by implanting the penetration code developed through the research into a specific IoT system. The virus detection test for the resulting penetration code was validated by referral to the "virustotal" site.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve Biotope Area Ratio(BAR) systems used in the various fields. Recently, there has been increasing demand in urban agriculture as well as more residents cultivating farms on a small scale. However, there are few measures in terms of architecture and urban planning to respond to this trend. In this sense, this research is effective as it can respond to these demands by using BAR systems. Yet, the environmental indexes are not enough since BAR systems only take account of vegetation. Therefore, this study proposes an alternative way that includes the capacity factor of the plant growth by expanding the existing BAR systems. Thus, the study analyzes the complementary possibility of BAR systems, including elements of daylight, planting interval, area and soil depth with existing BAR elements.

  • The purpose of this paper is to provide an abstracted meta-model for executing Capabilities Portfolio Management (CPM) effectively based on DoDAF2.0. The purpose of developing an architecture is for beneficial use of it. A good set of architectural artifacts facilitates the manipulation and use of them in meeting its usage objectives well. Systems engineering methodologies evolve to accommodate or to deal with enterprise or SoS/FoS level problems. And DoD's Capabilities Portfolio Management (CPM) is a good example which demonstrates enterprise or SoS level problems. However, the complexity of the architecture framework makes it difficult to develop and use the architecture models and their associated artifacts. DoDAF states that it was established to guide the development of architectures and to satisfy the demands of a structured, repeatable method for evaluating alternatives which add value to decisions and management practices. One of the objectives of DoDAF2.0 is to define concepts and models usable in CPM which is one of DoD's six core processes. However, DoDAF and various guidelines state requirements for CPM rather than how to. This paper provides methodology for CPM which includes process and tailored meta-models based on DoDAF Meta Model (DM2).

  • As digital content items increase, new content services are often added to or integrated among existing content management systems to manage them. For efficient system integration, this paper designed a content management system that combines two existing content management systems based on a microservices architecture. In addition, during the development process, integrated system that existing systems were recycled without disruption to existing systems, integrated efficiently and implemented as scalable systems. It measured the resource usage of this systems and analyzed the differences between features for system integration using traditional middleware.

  • This paper presents the principles for design of autonomous systems whose behavior is based on models that support the various tasks that must be performed. We propose a model-based architecture aimed at reducing the computational demands required to integrate high level symbolic models with low level dynamic models. Model construction methods are illustrated to outfit such an architecture with the models needed to meet given objectives.

  • We developed new circuit architecture for reducing the power consumption and chip-size of driver ICs. In this paper we describe a new drive scheme, based on the concept of time -sharing output and optimal circuit design based on color resolution. In case of 132 x 176-pixel class, we used only 8 O p-A mps for a 262-k color display.

  • There has been many teleoperation systems handling the micro object. However, the stability problem for these systems has not been mentioned yet. Historically, Lawrence[1] proposed the Transparency-Optimized Architecture and passivity theorem for stability analysis of bilateral teleoperation. He claimed that unless the task(or environment) impedance contains significance inertial behavior, Passivity condition for Transparency-optimized architecture is not satisfied. In this paper we propose one method which satisfies passivity condition for the micro-teleoperation system handling a insignificant inertial object and is based on the structure of Lawrence and Hashtrudi-Zaad[2] and velocity-force scaling.

  • We propose a new control architecture which consists of a PI controller and a neural network(NN) controller connected together in parallel. This architecture is well adapted to a wide range of uncertainties and variations of systems. The NN controller is learned through weights of the emulator which identify the dynamic chracteristics of the systems. A performance evaluation level of two NN's decides automatically which controller of the two controllers will be used mainly. The PI controller operates mainly during learning phase of the NN controller whereas a good performance is obtained from the NN controller only, when the NN controller is learned sufficiently.

  • In this paper, we describe the accommodation of the PRML technique for the high speed and high density optical disk systems, which has been very effective in the high density HDD systems. To make the PRML technique adequate for the optical disk systems, the channel modeling and the simulation are performed. Finally, the architecture has been designed and realized into an ASIC. We have focused on the differences of PRML architecture between the HDD system and the optical disk system, and the digital realization of the PLL which has been realized with analog circuits.
