  • Computing thinking is regarded as one of the important skills required in the 21st century, and many countries have introduced and implemented computing thinking training courses. Among computational thinking education methods, educational game-based methods increase student participation and motivation, and increase access to computational thinking. Autothinking is an educational game developed for the purpose of providing computational thinking education to learners. It is an adaptive system that dynamically provides feedback to learners and automatically adjusts the difficulty according to the learner's computational thinking ability. However, because the game was designed based on rules, it cannot intelligently consider the computational thinking of learners or give feedback. In this study, game data collected through Autothikning is introduced, and game score prediction that reflects computational thinking is performed in order to increase the adaptability of the game by using it. To solve this problem, a comparative study was conducted on linear regression, decision tree, random forest, and support vector machine algorithms, which are most commonly used in regression problems. As a result of the study, the linear regression method showed the best performance in predicting game scores.

  • Using six preservice teachers as subjects, this was purpose to research about concepts in understanding carbon cycle, which of concepts were related to the conception of the system, and finally whether or not the systems thinking was sufficiently around carbon cycle. To achieve this study purpose , an instrument related to carbon cycle was developed and administered to the six teachers. The study found that a total of 42 conceptions within the system were concepts related to carbon cycle. The consisted of 15 conceptions in atmosphere, 11 in atmosphere 9 in hydrosphere, and 7 in lithosphere. In aspect of applying the system thinking, 4 subjects who couldn't compose the feedback loop in their causal map failed to apply this type of thinking. The other two who applied systems thinking had 2 and 1 feedback loop each, in their causal maps. But, one of the feedback loop from the subject who made two was based on unscientific reasoning. As a result, the subjects had lower understanding of concepts related to carbon cycle in lithosphere than in atmosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere. Futhermore, the subjects' application of the earth systems thinking on carbon was at a low standard.

  • The purpose of this paper is to explore causal relationship between social capital and firm's performance using systems thinking analysis. In strategic networks, the relationship between the members is an important factor affecting the performance. For this reason, we study relationship between social capital and firm's performance on strategic networks. The results show: Firstly, as presented in the existing research, trust and performance are positive relationship(+) and verify the entire system on strategic networks. Secondly, due to exclusiveness and embeddedness of social capital, there is nonlinear relationship between social capital and the firm's performance. Thirdly, the key factor of firm's performance on strategic networks verify relationship dependency and trust.

  • Nowadays, automobile manufacturers are faced with increasing global competition which is required low cost as well as high quality. To reduce shipping and handling cost and delivery time, lots of automobile manufactures tried to build their new factory in the neighborhood of market. Simultaneously, many factories are under construction in developing countries to make efficient use of low-wage workers. However, because systems are installed in developing countries as the same type of domestic facilities, systems have lots of problems such as high installation cost and inefficient use of manpower. To find core problems and generate optimal solution of these problems, thinking process of TOC(Theory Of Constrains) is used. In case of transmission gear machining system, semi-auto system is proposed as the best solution to increase manpower efficiency and system utilization. Semi-auto system consists of automatic machining process and manual transporting process. The system layout is generated based on semi-auto process concept. And, 3D simulation method using QUEST is used to verify production volume of generated system.

  • The purposes of this study are to explore Iceberg(IB) model as a systems thinking analysis tool for high school students, suggest a systems thinking analysis method using rubrics and verify its validity and reliability. For this study, the theoretical basis was examined through literature analysis about IB model and rubrics of evaluating the systems thinking. And 6 high school students participated in IB model activity and were interviewed about polar climate change. In addition, quantitative tests using systems thinking scale were also conducted to support the results of the IB model activity analysis. Data obtained from IB model activity was analyzed by using the rubrics of evaluating system thinking developed by Hung (2008). The analysis results were reviewed by two professors to confirm the validity and reliability. In order to confirm the validity, correlation analysis were performed between the rubrics and the quantitative test results. Finding are as follows: Six students used the IB model to express their systems thinking in detail and the results of the systems thinking analysis of students using rubrics showed a distribution of 17~35 points. Furthermore, the results of correlation analysis between rubrics and systems thinking scale was highly correlated (Pearson product-moment is .856) on significance level from .05. Using the IB model introduced in this study, students express their systems thinking effectively and the results of the systems thinking analysis using IB model is considered to analyze validity and reliability. Based on the results of this study, implication suggests how to study the systems thinking in science education.

  • The purposes of this study are 1) to develop a pre-education program for teaching the basic concepts of systems thinking and STEAM program based on systems thinking and 2) to investigate the effects of the program on middle school students' systems thinking. The subjects were 4 seventh-graders and 4 ninth-graders in a middle school located in the province of Gyeongsangbuk-do. Data related to students' systems thinking was analyzed using the rubrics developed by Hung(2008). The results were reviewed by experts to verify the validity of the rubrics and the reliability of students' system thinking. In addition, the data analyzed with the rubrics, students' awareness of systems thinking, word associations, causal maps and interviews were systematically analyzed to investigate the effects of the program on students' systems thinking. The findings of this study were as follows: First, a pre-education program and teachers' guidebook for teaching and learning the concept of systems thinking and causal maps were developed. The pre-education program consisted of familiar TV entertainment program-Infinite Challenge (Muhandojeon)-with a theme of Global Warming. Second, a STEAM education program based on systems thinking which was composed of 5 steps: Analysis-Design-Build-Assessment-Systems thinking. The major theme of the program was an air extinguisher. The developed STEAM education program had positive effects on improving middle school students' systems thinking abilities such as understanding systems, relations within a system and system generalization. Therefore, it was concluded that the STEAM program could be instrumental for cultivating students' STEAM literacy with improved systems thinking.
