Development of a Prototype Equipment for Road Stripe Removing Using High Pressure Water-Jet (워터젯을 이용한 노면표시 제거장비의 프로토타입 개발)

  • Current removing process is labor intensive and time consuming, employing a conventional grinding type manual machine. This manual tasks trigger various dangers such as unexpected traffic accidents or explosions of propane gas used for finalizing removing process, leading to health damage and environment pollution by dusts and noxious gases. Accordingly, it is necessity for the development of new alternative equipment. In this paper, we have developed a prototype equipment for road stripe removing made up with a high-pressure water-jet system as a mobile type system. The following shows the results. First, an analysis of the current road stripe removal process showed that it can be divided into a) preparation, b) removal and c) ground finishing. It also showed that the b) removal process requires equipment which can cover the whole process. Second, the study compared between the productivity of the developed equipment and conventional methods, and it obtained 280% productivity improvement compared to the conventional equipment.

H5Station: An Effective HTML5-based Multimedia File Management System (H5Station: HTML5-기반 효과적인 멀티미디어 파일 관리 시스템)

  • As various smartphones users are increasing rapidly, the more contents they keep in their devices, however, the larger necessity for the effective and easy management of their files they want. To satisfy this need, we propose an integrated multimedia files management system, H5Station. By using H5Station client, users can connect to the H5Station server running on their own PC, and manage their multimedia files effectively, and enjoy every file they have. The H5Station client is developed by using HTML5 standard technology. Therefore H5Station client can run on any HTML5-supported browser. Main functions of the H5Station are as follows: configuring user settings, charting the distribution of user files, upload/download/deletion of files, synchronizing files' metadata between client and server, playing user-selected files, searching files users want, and finally creating user-customized buttons. Through these functions, users can easily find, play, and manage their multimedia contents at any place and anytime.

  • The Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) systems are indispensable tools of air surveillance and reconnaissance nowadays. Via this systems, hazardous end risky intelligence gathering activities are handled easily. Although they are named as "Unmanned" the UAV systems are commanded by pilots/operators. So, because of weather conditions, enemy attacks etc. as well as pilot error it is possible to face with sudden Round per Minute (RPM) drops and subsequently engine cut/stop during a mission flight at high altitudes. In this case, there are some very urgent decisions to make and rapid "emergency procedure" steps to take in a very short time before Line of Sight (LOS) is lost. The time before crash and the distance to landing air base need to be calculated, the Return Home route need to be checked and the landing/crash side need to be determined. Therefore it is a vital necessity that UAV pilots have some extra qualifications like being determined, well instructed and trained, experienced apart from operating ability. Within this scope, for an education process of a UAV pilot experience sharing and lessons learned are as important as simulators even more. By means of lessons learned it is possible to find out the reasons, mistakes and prevent the likely UAV accidents. In this study it is told about a real UAV crash, experienced of the pilot, the dos and don'ts and the difficulties. Thus it is aimed to help the people who can experience the same or similar situations in future.

  • The middleware that provides RFID-based ubiquitous application service should process the data inputted constantly in real time, and acquire and deliver the answers of the questions in the application service. Studies for developing a Data Stream Management System(DSMS) has been performed in order to process a large amount of data stream inputted constantly in this way. Previous algorithms on data stream were mostly focused on reducing the average error between the answers of the successive questions and abandon the data according to the priority of them when a load occurs. This article is composed of presenting the necessity of the studies on the DSMS and speedy data processing, suggesting an algorithm to make Possible the speedy data processing using buffers and prompt questions and answers, and testing the performance of the data processing rate and whether a buffer is generated correspondingly to the algorithm suggested, in either a single or a multiple buffer, through simulations.

  • River restoration and environmental improvement projects have been peformed by social needs, therefore methodology for evaluating such projects must be provided. The PHysical HABitat SIMulation system (PHABSIM) is proposed as a tool for the assessment of hydraulic habitat suitability for aquatic species related to flow regime in river. This study evaluates the change of physical habitat for Zacco platypus according to small dam removal and the model suitability by applying PHABSIM to the reach where small dam was removed. It is shown that the physical habitat is generally increased and improved where the small dam was removed. However, physical habitat in the spawning stage that has a weak swimming speed is decreased by increased flow velocity in the upstream area of small dam, so proper countermeasure for that condition should be needed. Consequently, PHABSIM can be effectively used to provide methodology for assessment and necessity of various river projects including a removal of out-aged hydraulic structures.

  • When cadastre system was first introduced in Korea, we only uses the surface of the land and thus its form was very simple. Nowadays on account of the development of architectural technology, the rapid expansion of population and urbanization, the cubic utilization of land including the land usage of underground and surface space is widely settled. This article studies the function of cadastre and public notice to encourage cubic utilization of the land, argues the necessity of 3D-cadastre system to protect property right, and suggests the GPS land measurement as a possible measure.

  • Since 1993, the civil aviation community through RTCA (Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics) and the ICAO (International Civil Air Navigation Organization) have been working on the definition of GNSS augmentation systems that will provide improved levels of accuracy and integrity. These augmentation systems have been classified into three distinct groups: Aircraft Based Augmentation Systems (ABAS), Space Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) and Ground Based Augmentation Systems (GBAS). The last one is an implemented system to support Air Navigation in CAT-I approaching operation. It consists of three primary subsystems: the GNSS Satellite subsystem that produces the ranging signals and navigation messages; the GBAS ground subsystem, which uses two or more GNSS receivers. It collects pseudo ranges for all GNSS satellites in view and computes and broadcasts differential corrections and integrity-related information; the Aircraft subsystem. Within the area of coverage of the ground station, aircraft subsystems may use the broadcast corrections to compute their own measurements in line with the differential principle. After selection of the desired FAS for the landing runway, the differentially corrected position is used to generate navigation guidance signals. Those are lateral and vertical deviations as well as distance to the threshold crossing point of the selected FAS and integrity flags. The Department of Applied Science in Naples has create for its study a virtual GBAS Ground station. Starting from three GPS double frequency receivers, we collect data of 24h measures session and in post processing we generate the GC (GBAS Correction). For this goal we use the software Pegasus V4.1 developed from EUROCONTROL. Generating the GC we have the possibility to study and monitor GBAS performance and integrity starting from a virtual functional architecture. The latter allows us to collect data without the necessity to found us authorization for the access to restricted area in airport where there is one GBAS installation.

Technical Trend Analysis of Fingerprint Classification (지문분류 기술 동향 분석)

  • The fingerprint classification of categorizing fingerprints by classes should be used in order to improve the processing speed and accuracy in a fingerprint recognition system using a large database. The fingerprint classification methods extract features from the fingerprint ridges of a fingerprint and classify the fingerprint using learning and reasoning techniques based on the classes defined according to the flow and shape of the fingerprint ridges. In earlier days, many researches have been conducted using NIST database acquired by pressing or rolling finger against a paper. However, as automated systems using live-scan scanners for fingerprint recognition have become popular, researches using fingerprint images obtained by live-scan scanners, such as fingerprint data provided by FVC, are increasing. And these days the methods of fingerprint classification using Deep Learning have proposed. In this paper, we investigate the trends of fingerprint classification technology and compare the classification performance of the technology. We desire to assist fingerprint classification research with increasing large fingerprint database in improving the performance by mentioning the necessity of fingerprint classification research with consideration for fingerprint images based on live-scan scanners and analyzing fingerprint classification using deep learning.

A Research of Optimum Supply Reserve Levels for Stability of Power System (전력계통 안전을 위한 공급예비력 적정수준에 대한 연구)

  • Because of the high increasing rate of load demand these days the necessity of deciding what optimum reserve level is appropriate to most stably supply electricity is being emphasized. This research studies the downward tendency of reserve ratio by analyzing the trend of change of the network scale, reserve, and reserve ratio while optimum reserve has been increased as the network system scale grow up. This means, at this moment 6,000[MW] is optimum level for short term prospect of power supply and demand. And also, it has been analyzed that, as the annual peak load exceeded 50,000[MW], confirming the amount of optimum reserve level is more stable than keeping 10 to 12[%] reserve ratio.

  • MTF message is the normalized and standardized format which is used in the time when it tries to transmit data to other systems or exchanges needed information in defense message systems. XML can support variety of search functionality and is estimated to be the best way from the view of efficient presentation and exchange in internet based environment, based on advantage which is independent of hardware and software. US army brought in XML-MTF combining with XML based technology, but we do not contain such a MTF system, and necessity of MTF is increasing for combined operation between ROK and US as a lot of C4I system were transferred to Web based systems. In this paper, we make analysis of fundamental structure, organization of paragraph, witting regulation of MTF message. We present the rule of naming element and fundamental mapping rule for transformation of its XML based on it. Also, we prove that MTF message can be transformed to XML document by trying to transforming sample documents to XML document applying presented mapping rule, creating MTF message based on it and implement program which can automatically transform them to XML-MTF.
