  • This paper describes the result of structure analysis and load test for bogie frame. The purpose of the analysis and test is to evaluate an safety which body structure shall be considered fully sufficient rigidity so as to satisfy proper system function under maximum load. Bogie system consists of bogie frame, suspensions, wheel-sets, braking system and transmission system. Among these component, the bogie frame is most significant component subjected to the vehicle and passenger loads. The evaluation method is used the JIS E 4207 specification throughout the FEM analysis and static load test. The analysis and test results have been very safety and stable for design load conditions.

  • This paper describes a newly designed multipoint process monitoring system based on a NIR acousto-optic tunable filter. The NIR multipoint process monitoring system consists of a NIR AOTF device for wavelength selection, an InGaAs array sensor, and a specially designed iin-line type of optical fiber probe. Unlike a FTS(Fourier Transform Spectrometry) or grating based monitoring system, an AOTF has no moving parts, and it can be rapidly tuned to any wavelength in its operating range within microseconds. Thus, the AOTF is advantageous in terms of faster spectral imaging capability and rigidity required for industrial monitoring environment.   • For high speed railway vehicles, we consider a vibration of flexible track/wheel system. It is very important to deal with the complex phenomena of high-speed vehicles that can be occurred in the vertical vibration of the system. From a viewpoint of multibody dynamics, this kind of problem needs accurate analysis because the system includes mutual dynamic behaviors of rigid body and flexible body. The simulation technique for the complex problems is also discussed. We consider the high-speed translation, rail elasticity, elastic supports under the rail and contact rigidity. Eigen value analysis is also completed to verify the mechanism of the coupled vertical vibration of the system.

  • The piping system of a power plant suffers not only thermal expansion according to the temperature variation, but also many kinds of load: steady state vibrations due to the equipment operation or fluid flow, and transient vibrations due to the earthquake or explosion, etc. The snubbers are usually installed on the piping system to allow thermal expansion, and to reduce dynamic responses. Most snubbers are kinds of hydraulic and mechanical type, which can be degraded by leakage and abrasion, and required much cost for maintenance and replacement. Recently the wire rope type snubbers are developed and applied to the power plant, and proved as effective to reduce piping system vibration. Wire rope type snubber uses the bending rigidity and energy dissipation properties of ropes. This paper presents the procedure of design, and the method to apply hysteresis curve to the dynamic response analysis. Experiments were also conducted to confirm design results.

  • A fish-bone girder pier affects torsion severely because of the one girder system. This study was performed to develop an analytical model to analyze and design a fish-bone girder pier properly. This model consisted of a beam element with 7-degrees of freedom considering the warping rigidity. Several beam-column connection conditions were considered. The static load test was performed using a real size specimen. The validity of this model was tested by a comparison of the analytical results with the experimental results. This analytical model is useful for designing the bolt connection of a Spine girder.

Flexural Behaviors of Reinforced Concrete Beams Strengthened with Glass Fiber Sheets (유리섬유시트로 보강된 RC 보의 휨 거동에 관한 연구)

  • To investigate the flexural behavior of RC beams strengthened with glass fiber sheets, 1 control beam and 8 strengthened beams (4 NU-beams without U-shaped band and 4 U-beams with U-shaped band) are tested. The variables of experiment are composed of the number of glass fiber sheets and the existence of U-shaped band, etc. The maximum load was increased by 48% and 34%, and the flexural rigidity by 920% and 880% for NU-beam and U-beam, respectively, compared with those of the control beam. The ductility ratios were 1.43$\sim$2.60 for NU-beam and U-beam. The experimental results showed that the strengthening system with U-shaped band controls the premature debonding and provides a more ductile failure mode than the strengthening system without U-shaped band. It can be found from the load-deflection curves that as the number of fiber sheets is increased, the maximum strength and the flexural rigidity is increased. The experimental results are compared with the analytical results of nonlinear flexural behaviors for strengthened RC beam. The experimental and analytical results were well agreed.

A Study on Impact Sound Insulation Properties of EPDM Micro Cellular Pad (에틸렌-프로필렌-디엔 삼원 공중합 (EPDM) 발포체의 충격음 저감 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In order to investigate the possibility of EPDM micro cellular pad (MCP) as an impact sound insulation product, we studied static/dynamic properties and vibration transfer characteristics of EPDM MCP depending on shape, thickness, degrees of foaming by using material test system (MTS) and lab scale mock-up test apparatus. Static/dynamic rigidity is increased when shape is simple. thickness and degrees of foaming low. We could see that dynamic stiffness is proportional to the transmissibility of EPDM MCP. When dynamic stiffness is increased, characteristic peak at transmissibility curve moves high frequency range or snows increase of maximum value of transmissibility. For lab scale mock-up test and finite element method, EPDM MCP shows low vibration velocity and superior mode shape to just concrete plus slab structure. We could confirm that possibility of EPDM MCP as a impact sound insulation product is high.
