The future of design relies much on and is only ensured by the fundamental understanding of the dynamics between the ecosystem of nature and that of humans; therefore, having an eco-mind is essential. This study establishes ecological design strategies coinciding with the furniture design process and the furniture product life cycle in production, distribution, and end-of-life. In addition, it provides an overall direction with guidelines for ecological furniture design. The presented strategies focus on the Development of a New Concept; the Optimized Use of Physical Materials-functionality and utility; the Optimized Production; the Optimized Distribution System; and the Optimized End-of-life System. Through taking these steps, we can not only preserve our natural environment and Improve our lives, but also create optimal furniture design which corresponds and integrate with the ecosystem.

In recent years, young customers whose priority are on rationality and practicality of products and set a high value on space usage and storage efficiency have shown larger interest in knocked down furniture, thus its purchase has been on the rise. A baby bed design utilizing knocked down system suggested in this article, allows simple assembly and disassembly, easy transportation, easy movement, and also possible to recycle. Using laminated wood made of Douglas fir, a natural material, a baby bed is designed as knocked down structure. Its prototype is made to suggest easy assembly and disassembly design, which does not require any hardware. If efforts are put on the research of furniture design and its product development, focusing on the applicable usage and strength of knocked down furniture, it can become one of the solutions to the development of currently stagnant domestic furniture industry.

The purpose of this study is developing basic module of kitchen furniture design by considering the dimensions of work-surfaces, such as the size of worktable and the length of the kitchen furniture based on the physical size of a human scale and the behavior in the kitchen and the size of goods. In conclusion, this study develops a basic module of the kitchen furniture and suggests the new dimension for the kitchen based on the human scale and demand for the kitchen goods thus, it is expected to use it as a basic data for the kitchen space study and kitchen furniture industry.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the design principles of organic integration on furniture design by Frank Lloyd Wright. He consistently pursued organic principles in interior design, furniture and equipments. He insisted that every elements of a building can be integrated into architecture as if architecture can be a part of the nature. The study surveyed and analyzed the examples of furniture design in Wright houses from the viewpoints of spacial and formal integration as well as organic evolution. The study finds the characteristics of organic integration on furniture design as follows. He designed built-in furniture as an important part of the house, which seemed to grow up from the architecture design and a part of a building. He also designed and arranged free-standing furniture as spacial device in open floor plan. Moreover, furniture design repeated same geometry, modules, and proportion system of house design in order to integrate Into the building. In addition, material and color of furniture follow those of architecture. Wright's furniture design had changed from heavy forms in his early prairie houses to light and practical shapes in his Usonian period.

과학기술의 발달과 생활양식의 변화로 인해 주택의 역할은 가족구성원들을 위한 생활공간 뿐 아니라 사무실을 대신하는 업무공간으로 확장되고 있으며, 그에 따라 업무에 필요한 기기나 물품들은 편리하게 사용하고 수납하기 위한 재택 근무가구의 수요도 증가하고 있다. 이 연구에서는 선행 개발된 재택 근무 공간 및 가구에 대한 지침과 연구결과를 바탕으로 하여, 기능적인 측면에서는 편리하고 효율적인 작업이 가능하고 형태적인 측면에서는 주택이라는 특성에 부합하는 다음과 같은 가구의 디자인을 개발하였다. 1. 패널부착형 조합가구 : 가변성과 확장성을 기본개념으로 하여 원하는 형태와 크기의 unit를 다양하게 조합할 수 있는 시스템 가구 2. 캐비넷 형 워크스테이션 : 하나의 가구에 재택 무에 필요한 기능을 집약시켜 최소한의 공간으로 최대의 효율성을 추구하는 가구 3. 이동식 다목적 가구 : 간단한 작업이나 보조기능을 위한 이동성이 뛰어난 가구 재택 근무는 시간과 공간의 효율성으로 인해 미래의 업무 형태로 발전될 가능성이 크며, 따라서 보다 다양한 기능과 형태를 지니는 디자인의 지속적인 개발이 요구된다.

As this research is the one analyzing the color using status of the office furniture in overseas, it surveyed and analyzed the color use on the basis of total 22 products by selecting 7 office furniture companies in overseas so as to promote the upright use of the color in planning the office furniture. As for the research method, the theory of color system (NCS) and the theory of color harmony (Ostwald and Fiber Biren), which are used in this research on the basis of the theoretical consideration for the office furniture and the definition and importance of the color, have been specified and analyzed on the basis of these. In this result, only 8 products, which are 36.4% among 22 products of 7 companies, are harmonized as per the theory of color harmony of two colors. It is expected that the effective influence may be bestowed on improvement of the office environment and increase of the work efficiency as the more planned and effective use of the color is made for the office furniture on the basis of this research.

The need of Home-Office is increasing according to the technology and communication system being developed. It is necessary to develop space program and home furniture design for Home-Office. The purpose of this study was to investigate sjpace condition for Home-Office and Home-Office furniture, and to examine preference and opinion on Home-Office. The results this study can be summarized as follows: 1) An isolated space such as a study was the most preferred for Home-Office. The proper size of Home-Office space in residential interior was over 3.3m$\times$3m. 2) The system furniture which is enable to store OA system, and to have efficient work space was preferred. 3) The preferred color of system furniture was natural wood tone, and the most preferred color of chair was blue. 4) It was assumed that the possibility of Home-Office is increased in the new future.

This research has a significant meaning to observe and understand the historical condition of a furniture industry and the characteristics of Korean home furniture's formation, ability, skill and materials from 1980s when there were an economic growth and a historical development of Korean home furniture occurred to present days. During 1980s, there was an automatic system available and has enforced and settled the standards on its quality and price in a furniture industry. Also, there was a big trend of black furniture as well as an entrance of corporation and high glossy furniture due to technical cooperation from Europe. In 1990s, there was an entrance of furniture which various techniques was applied due to a high development of the materials and skills, and also various sizes of height and weight and enlargement of acceptance function using highly-technological hardware. After 2000 and now, pro-environmental products is embossed in the Korean home furniture where they added a public issue which is the concept of well being, and A.I and sub material has been pro-environment. There also was a natural unity between nature and technology because of increased usage of trees with its natural patterns, metals, and glasses. For the future development of home furniture design, This problem should be promptly recognized that current home furniture designs are now on the verge of being lack of originality and are just following the market demand and recent trend as it is. Then, there should be a development of its specialized, detailed, unique design as well as a development of advanced materials, production management, distribution, and so on, and carrying out a diversified research continuously. There also should be a systematic education, which is necessary for training specialists to lead the Korean home furniture design industry as well as preparing a basic level for the future without a negligence.

The purpose of this study is to examine losely how the Rococo style, which reached its summit in the history of French furniture, was realized in its social background and mode of life. Based ion this examination , this study will explore desirable directions for developing our domestic furniture design. For this purpose , existing literature will be referred to and analyzed to arrange into a new system. Rococo furniture style was the product of joyous and aristocratic living . This was based upon the historical development of French interior design, established by the national mode of Versailles Palace. Hereafter, royal style came into fashion paralleled with the luxuries of the court. Pursuit of new , interesting or beyond-expectation fashions encouraged the creation of new and imaginative forms and designs . The elegnant taste of customers, the new techniques of furniture manufacturing , and the unique sales strategies of merchants were social phenomena which contributed to the development of Rococo furniture. Furthermore , Louis XV`s private and personal life led to society`s pursut of comfortable and convenient living . Under these circumstances, small and cozy rooms for various uses came into the interior. Accordingly, the scales of furniture became smaller and any types of furniture with their own uses and feminine nature were manufactured , especially by the bnistes. Rococo furniture with fmine beanty and refined line, beatifil proportion and elegant sculpture, and solidity and clarity in general , is not only furniture for the use of man, but also furniture in harmony with man. As we see the stages of development and the characteristics of Rococo furniture, development of Korean furniture is a common task which can be accomplished through the participation of the designer, manufacturer, seller and consumer. Based on this co-operation , the furniture industry must make an improvement in furmture design, lestablish a permanent store in which new works are displayed. publicize activities and sales, promote exhibitions and seminars, and encourage technical development through the government and other interested organizations.

가구디자인의 분야는 다른 제품디자인 분야와 다르게 순수 디자인영역과 함께 스튜디오작업을 병행하는 경우가 많다. 이러한 경우는 대량 생산하는 산업가구보다는 다품종 소량생산이나 맞춤형 주문가구, 혹은 부가가치를 극대화한 작품가구 등을 들 수 있으며, 이러한 작업은 주로 소규모의 공방에서 이루어진다. 이와 같은 소규모 가구 스튜디오에서의 디자인과 제작은 대량생산에 비해 형태와 조형성애서 비교적 자유로울 수 있으며 그에 대한 대표적 조형의 요소는 '곡선'이라고 볼 수 있다. 나무는 그 재료적 특성 상 원목의 곡선 카빙을 제외한 자유로운 곡선의 조형이 까다롭기 때문에 특별한 벤딩기법을 적용해야하는데 이를 위해서 본 연구에서는 베큠프레스의 벤딩기법의 효용성과 가능성을 연구하였다. 베큠프레스의 특징과 다양한 기능분석 및 이를 바탕으로 한 기법개발과 실험을 통해서, 특히 가구디자이너를 위한 소규모 스튜디오에서의 베큠프레스의 효율성과 생산성의 가치를 파악하고 보다 효과적인 벤딩의 작업성을 위해 적절한 충족조건 등을 찾아내고자 하였다.
