A Study on development of short term electric load prediction system with the genetic algorithm and the fuzzy system (유전자알고리즘과 퍼지시스템을 이용한 단기부하예측 시스템 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes a time series prediction method for the short term electrical load will) the fuzzy system and the genetic algorithm. At first, we obtain the optimal fuzzy membership function using the genetic algorithm. With the optimal fuzzy rules and its input differences, a better time prediction system may be obtained. We obtain good results for the time prediction of the short term electric load by the proposed algorithm. In addition we implement the graphic user interface for the proposed algorithms. Finally, we implement the regional prediction system for the electric load.

  • This paper presents the fast adaptive algorithm which applies an approximation scheme into RLS algorithm. The proposed algorithm(D-RLS) derives a QRD RLS algorithm derivation process from RLS algorithm recursively. D-RLS has the similar pattern as the algorithm having the approximation that input signals are separated respectively. Computational complexity of D-RLS is O(N), fewer than $O(N^2)$. To evaluate performance of proposed algorithm, we use the system identification method of FIR and Volterra system. And, finally, we can show D-RLS has an excellent performance.

  • In this thesis, a RFID baseband system is implemented based on the international standard ISO/IEC 18000-6 Type-B using FPCA, and also anti-collision algorithm is implemented to improve the system performance. We compares the performance of the proposed anti-collision algorithm with that binary tree algorithm and bit-by-bit algorithm, and also validated analytic results using OPNET simulation. The proposed algorithm for Type-B transmission protocol and collision prohibition was designed using ISE7.1i which is a FPGA design-tool of Xilinx and implemented with Spartan2 chip which is a FPGA device.

  • In this thesis, based on Genetic Algorithm, a new route search algorithm is presented to search an optimal route between the origin and the destination in intelligent route guidance systems in order to minimize the route traveling time. The proposed algorithm is effectively employed to complex road networks which have diverse turn constrains, time-delay constraints due to cross signals, and stochastic traffic volume. The algorithm is also shown to significantly promote search efficiency by changing the population size of path individuals that exist in each generation through the concept of age and lifetime to each path individual. A virtual road-traffic network with various turn constraints and traffic volume is simulated, where the suggested algorithm promptly produces not only an optimal route to minimize the route cost but also the estimated travel time for any pair of the origin and the destination, while effectively avoiding turn constraints and traffic jam.

  • Efficient using of web cache is becoming important factor that decide system management efficiency in web-Based system. Cache performance depends heavily on replacement algorithms, which dynamically select a suitable subset of objects for caching in a finite space. However, replacement algorithm on web cache has many differences than traditional replacement algorithm. In this paper, a web-caching algorithm is proposed for efficient operation of web base system. The algorithm is designed based on a divided scope that considered size reference characteristic and heterogeneity on web object. The performance of the algorithm is analyzed with an experiment. With the experiment results, the algorithm is compared with previous replacement algorithms, and its performance is confirmed ith an improvement of response speed.

An Efficient String Matching Algorithm Using Bidirectional and Parallel Processing Structure for Intrusion Detection System

  • Rapid growth of internet applications has increased the importance of intrusion detection system (IDS) performance. String matching is the most computation-consuming task in IDS. In this paper, a new algorithm for multiple string matching is proposed. This proposed algorithm is based on the canonical Aho-Corasick algorithm and it utilizes a bidirectional and parallel processing structure to accelerate the matching speed. The proposed string matching algorithm was implemented and patched into Snort for experimental evaluation. Comparing with the canonical Aho-Corasick algorithm, the proposed algorithm has gained much improvement on the matching speed, especially in detecting multiple keywords within a long input text string.

  • For a long road tunnel, a tunnel ventilation system may be used in order to reduce the pollution level below the required level. To control the tunnel pollution level, a closed loop control algorithm may be used. The cascade control algorithm, which composed of a jet fan control algorithm and an air velocity setpoint algorithm, was developed to regulate the CO level in a tunnel. The verification of control algorithms was carried out by dynamic models developed from real tunnel data sets. The simulation results showed that control algorithms developed for this study were effective to control the tunnel ventilation system.

  • An outrigger damper system has been proposed to reduce dynamic responses of tall buildings. In previous studies, an outrigger damper system was optimally designed to decrease a wind-induced or earthquake-induced dynamic response. When an outrigger damper system is optimally designed for wind excitation, its control performance for seismic excitation deteriorates. Therefore, a smart outrigger damper system is proposed in this study to make a control system that can simultaneously reduce both wind and seismic responses. A smart outrigger system is made up of MR (Magnetorheological) dampers. A fuzzy logic control algorithm (FLC) was used to generate command voltages sent for smart outrigger damper system and the FLC was optimized by genetic algorithm. This study shows that the smart outrigger system can provide good control performance for reduction of both wind and earthquake responses compared to the general outrigger system.

  • In this paper we deal with a design of the evaluation system to assess the vehicle operational control algorithm for Personal Rapid Transit(PRT) system. PRT system is different from the conventional rail traffic system in such point that the station is off-line so as to guarantee a very short headway. In this study we propose a evaluation system to assess the performance of the proposed vehicle control algorithm. The evaluation system is composed of virtual vehicles, central control system, virtual wayside facilities, monitoring equipments. In order to test the proposed evaluation system a test algorithm is used, which has been simulated in the combined simulation system between Labview Simulation Interface Toolkit and Matlab/Simulink.

Performance Improvement of Active Noise Control Using Co-FXLMS Algorithm (Co-FXLMS 알고리듬을 이용한 능동소음제어 성능의 향상)

  • The active control technique mostly uses the least-mean-square(LMS) algorithm, because the LMS algorithm can easily obtain the complex transfer function in real-time, particularly when the Filtered-X LMS(FXLMS) algorithm is applied to an active noise control(ANC) system. However, FXLMS algorithm has the demerit that stability of the control is decreased when the step size become larger but the convergence speed is faster because the step size of FXLMS algorithm is fixed. As a result, the system has higher probability which the divergence occurs. Thus the Co-FXLMS algorithm was developed to solve this problem. The Co-FXLMS algorithm is realized by using an estimate of the cross correlation between the adaptation error and the filtered input signal to control the step size. In this paper, the performance of the Co-FXLMS algorithm is presented in comparison with the FXLMS algorithm. Simulation and experimental results show that active noise control using Co-FXLMS is effective in reducing the noise in duct system.
