  • The combustion characteristics of the disilicides molybdenum system have been studied experimentally. The pertinent reaction parameters that control self-propagating high temperature synthesis reactions have been examined. These include reactant particle size, powder mixing and compaction, reaction stoichiometry, diluents. The inf1uence of experimental variables on integrity, uniformity, structure, and related material properties will be discussed. Formation mechanism of MoSi$_2$ during SHS might be different and depending on experimental conditions.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient SA(simulated annealing) algorithm for the synthesis of binary phase computer generated hologram. SA algorithm is a method to find the optimal solution through iterative technique. It is important that selecting cost function and parameters within this algorithm. The aplications of converentional SA algorithm to synthesize parameters within this algorithm. The applications of conventional SA algorithm to synthesize binary hologram have many problems because of inappropriate paramters and cost function. So, we propose a new cost function and a calculation technique of proper parameters required to achieve the optimal solution. Computer simulation results show that the proposed method is better than conventional method in terms of diffraction efficiency and reconstruction error. Also, we show the reconstructed images by the proposed method through optical esperiment.

Structural joint modeling and identification: numerical and experimental investigation

  • In the present work, structural joints have been modeled as a pair of translational and rotational springs and frequency equation of the overall system has been developed using sub-structure synthesis. It is shown that using first few natural frequencies of the system, one can obtain a set of over-determined system of equations involving the unknown stiffness parameters. Method of multi-linear regression is then applied to obtain the best estimate of the unknown stiffness parameters. The estimation procedure has been developed first for a two parameter joint model and then for a three parameter model, in which cross coupling terms are also included. Two cases of structural connections have been considered, first with a cantilever beam with support flexibility and then a pair of beams connected through lap joint. The validity of the proposed method is demonstrated through numerical simulation and by experimentation.

음성의 준주기적 현상 분석 및 구현에 관한 연구 (Analysis and synthesis of pseudo-periodicity on voice using source model approach)

  • The purpose of this work is to analyze and synthesize the pseudo-periodicity of voice using a source model. A speech signal has periodic characteristics; however, it is not completely periodic. While periodicity contributes significantly to the production of prosody, emotional status, etc., pseudo-periodicity contributes to the distinctions between normal and abnormal status, the naturalness of normal speech, etc. Measurement of pseudo-periodicity is typically performed through parameters such as jitter and shimmer. For studying the pseudo-periodic nature of voice in a controlled environment, through collected natural voice, we can only observe the distributions of the parameters, which are limited by the size of collected data. If we can generate voice samples in a controlled manner, experiments that are more diverse can be conducted. In this study, the probability distributions of vowel pitch variation are obtained from the speech signal. Based on the probability distribution of vocal folds, pulses with a designated jitter value are synthesized. Then, the target and re-analyzed jitter values are compared to check the validity of the method. It was found that the jitter synthesis method is useful for normal voice synthesis.

고음질 합성방식용 V/UV 스펙트럼상의 피치변경법에 관한 연구 (On a Pitch Alteration Technique in the V/UV Spectrum for High Quality Speech Synthesis Technique)

  • 파형부호화법은 파형의 잉여성분 제거과정을 통해 음성파형의 꼴을 단순히 보존하는 부호화법이다. 음성합성분야에서 파형부호화법은 주로 분석에 의한 고음질 합성방식으로 적용되고 있다. 그렇지만 이 부호화법은 분석시에 여기원과 성도여파기 피라미터들로 분류하여 처리하지 않기 때문에 규칙에 의한 합성방식으로는 적용하기가 힘들다. 본 논문에서는 스펙트럼영역에서 유성스펙트럼에 대해서만 스펙트럼축의 변경을 통해 피치를 조절하는 새로운 피치변경법을 제안하였다. 이 방법은 주파수영역의 처리법이며 50%의 피치변경을 수행하여도 스펙트럼 왜곡율이 2.7% 이하로 얻어졌고, 시간영역의 위상특성 보상에 의해 프레임간의 진폭연결이 자연스럽다는 장점을 갖느다.

Intragastrically Applicated CCl4-Thiopental Sodium Enhanced Lipid Peroxidation and Liver Fibrosis (Cirrhosis) in Rat: Malonedialdehyde as a Parameter of Lipid Peroxidation Correlated with Hydroxyproline as a Parameter of Collagen Synthesis (Deposition)

  • We investigated the pathogenesis of liver tissue damage during the lipid peroxidation and fibrogenesis with the observation of correlations between the parameters of collagen synthesis (and deposition) and lipid peroxidation in liver fibrosis (cirrhosis) rats. Rats were randomly divided into two groups, normal and $CCl_4$-thiopental sod. intoxicated group. And the one group was treated intragastrically with the mixture of $CCl_4$-thiopental sod. 3 times per week for 3 weeks. The liver tissue and sera were used for the measurement of hydroxyproline (HYP), malonedialdehyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD). Biochemical parameters such as aspartate transaminase (AST), alanine transaminase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), total-bilirubin and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) were measured. Additionally, the expression of collagen ${\alpha}1$(III) and $\beta$-actin mRNA was observed by RTPCR. The histological change in liver tissue was also observed by Masson's trichrome and H&E staining. Correlation analysis was carried by Spearman's rho method. All biochemical parameters except total-bilirubin were significantly higher in the $CCl_4$-thiopental sod. treated group than that of the normal group (p < 0.01). In the $CCl_4$-thiopental sod. treated group, Hyp as a parameter of collagen synthesis (deposition) and MDA as a metabolite of lipid peroxidation, were significantly elevated by 1.98 and 2.11 times higher than that of the normal group (p < 0.001) respectively. The activity of SOD in the $CCl_4$-thiopental sod. treated group is decreased significantly by 44.8% (p < 0.001). And collagen ${\alpha}1$(III) mRNA was more expressed in the $CCl_4$-thiopental sod. treated group than that of the normal group. However, the expression of $\beta$-actin mRNA is showed similar in both of groups. A good correlation was observed between the content of hyp and MDA concentration (r = 0.70, n = 40) in the two groups. And the correlation between the levels of hyp and SOD (r = -0.71, n = 25) is also reliable. However, no correlation were observed between MDA concentration and SOD (r = -0.40, n = 25) in the two groups. Elevated levels of MDA in $CCl_4$-thiopental sod. treated rats indicated enhancement of lipid peroxidation, which is accompanied by a decrease in SOD activity. Moreover, we could confirm that the parameters of collagen synthesis (and deposition) is in good correlation with the metabolite of lipid peroxidation (MDA) and the lipid peroxidation antagonizing enzyme (SOD). Hence, we propose that (1) lipid peroxidation and collagen synthesis (and deposition) could be enhanced by intragastrically application of $CCl_4$-thiopental sod. during a short terms. And (2) the intoxication of $CCl_4$-thiopental sod. could be used for monitoring of lipid peroxidation and collagen synthesis (and deposition) for test of antioxidant and antifibrotic agent.

위상 보상된 고조파 스케일링에 의한 음성합성용 피치변경법 (On a Pitch Alteration Method using Scaling the Harmonics Compensated with the Phase for Speech Synthesis)

  • 신호처리에서, 파형부화법은 음성신호의 잉여성분을 감소시킴으로써 파형을 유지하는 부호화 방법이다. 음성 합성의 경우, 고음질의 파형부호화법은 주로 분석에 의한 합성법에 이용된다. 그러나, 파형부호화법은 여기 파라미터와 성도 파라미터로 분리하지 않고 처리하기 때문에 규칙에 의한 합성에 적용되기 어렵다. 따라서 파형부호화법을 규칙에 의한 합성에 이용하기 위해서는 피치변경이 필요하다. 본 논문에서, 우리는 파형부호화법에서 음성신호를 성도 파라미터와 여기 파라미터로 분리함으로써 피치 주기를 바꿀 수 있는 새로운 피치변경법을 제안한다. 이 방법은 시-주파수 혼성영억 방법으로 시간영역에서 파형의 위상성분과 주파수영역에서 파형의 진폭성분을 보존한다. 따라서 파형부호화법은 음성처리에 있어 규칙에 의한 합성을 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서 제안한 알고리즘을 이용한 경우, 단지 $2.94\%의$ 스펙트럼 왜곡만이 일어났다. 즉, 스펙트럼 왜곡이 시간영역에서의 피치변경법보다 $5.06\%$ 이상 감소되었다.

Peculiarities of SHS and solid state synthesis of $ReBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-x}$ materials

  • The peculiarities of using Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis (SHS) and solid state phase synthesis for production of high temperature superconductor materials are discussed. Oxide superconductors with general formula $ReBa_2$$Cu_3$$O_{7-x}$ (Re= Y, Yb, Sm, Nd) have been made with using barium oxide initial powder instead of traditional barium carbonate. X-ray powder diffraction showed a single phase orthorhombic perovskite structure was produced in all reactions. Phenomena observed during the grinding of the reactant mixture are presented. Mechano-chemical activation - as a pretreatment of the reactant mixture - strongly influences the kinetic parameters, the reaction mechanism, and the composition and structure of the final product.

열화학기상증착법에 의한 백금 기판 위의 그래핀 합성 (Graphene Synthesis on Pt Substrate using a Chemical Vapor Deposition Method)

  • Graphene is a carbon-based two dimensional honeycomb lattice with monoatomic thickness and has attracted much attention due to its superior mechanical, electronic, and physical properties. Here, we present a synthesis of high quality graphene on Pt substrate using a chemical vapor deposition (CVD). We optimized synthesis condition with various parameters such as synthesis temperature, time, and cooling rate. Based on the results, we concluded that graphene synthesis is driven by mainly carbon adsorption on surface rather than precipitation of carbon which is dominant in other metal substrate. In addition, Pt substrate can be repeatedly used several times with high quality graphene.

Synthesis and Characterization of Alkyl Methacrylate-based Microgels by Experimental Design Method

  • In this work, alkyl methacrylate-based microgels were synthesized by an experimental design method, and their sebum absorption characteristics were investigated. The results of fractional factorial experimentation indicated that the cross-linking agent content, solvent content, and stirring speed were the main parameters in the synthesis of the microgels. The suitable synthesis conditions were determined by the response surface design method. Through a study of the monomer and solvent effects, it was confirmed that the microgel shows the highest sebum absorption ratio when t-butyl methacrylate is used as a monomer or when acetone is used as a solvent. The optimal microgel synthesis conditions for cosmetic application were determined, and the resulting microgel had a mean particle size of 4.7 μm and a sebum absorption ratio of 435%.
