  • Computational models up to now for Korean morphology have been linear in that it deal with only segmentation of morphemes rather than formation of the internal structure of a word. When integrating a linear computational model with syntax analysis, it requires an additional interface component between this model and the syntax to bind morphemes into sentence constituents. Furthermore the linear model is not semantically intuitive. In this paper, based on word-syntactical viewpoint, we propose an integrated computational model that deals with morpheme segmentation, formation of syntactic element (sentence constituent), and even internal structure of word. Formalism of two-level morphology is employed to cope with morpheme segmentation and alternation problems, and functional diacritics are proposed to incorporate categorial context into the two-level formalism. A modified GLR-based algorithm is also proposed to check syntactical constraint of morphemes.

  • It has been claimed recently that the two computational operations Move and Agree of Chomsky (2000, 2001a) should be separated into distinct and independent operations. According to this view, Move is an “operation that applies only to meet an EPP-feature of a functional category.” It is also claimed under that analysis that “a candidate for Move is simply a syntactic object with phonetic content.” The purpose of this short paper is to show that the operation Move should still be viewed as composite; hence it must have the operation Agree as one of its prerequisites. We argue that the EPP feature of T may not be analyzed as an independent feature that triggers overt displacement in syntax. Under Chomsky's (2000, 2001a) theory, displacement in syntax must require the probe-goal (P, G) association before the actual movement takes place. It is shown in this paper that in order for an element $\beta$ to raise to the [Spec, T] position, the $\varphi$-features of T must establish a (P, G) relation with those of $\beta$ prior to movement. In short, Move requires Agree, the EPP feature being dependent on the minimal $\varphi$-feature [person] of nominals.

  • The legacy methods for converting a business model to a feature model make it difficult to support an automatic transformation due to a dependence on a domain analyzers' intuitions, which hinders the feature oriented development for the integration of feature modeling in business modeling. This paper proposes a method for converting a BPMN business model into a feature model based on syntax. To allow the conversion between the heterogeneous models from BPMN to the FM(Feature Model), it defines the grouping mechanism based activities' syntax, and then makes translation rules and a method based on the element (represent business function) and structure (relationships and process among elements), which are common constructs of their models. This method was applied to an online shopping mall system as a case study. With this mechanism, it will help develop a mechanical or automated structure transformation from the BPMN model to the FM.

  • The discipline of terminology is based on its own theoretical principles and consists primarily of the following aspects: analysing the concepts and concept structures used in a field or domain of activity, identifying the terms assigned to the concepts, in the case of bilingual or multilingual terminology, establishing correspondences between terms in the various languages, creating new terms, as required. The word properties has syntax, morphology and orthography. The syntax is that how words are put together. The morphology is consist of inflection, derivation, and compounding. The orthography is spelling. Otherwise, the terms of TKM(Traditional Korean Medicine) is two important element of visual character and phonetic notation. A visual character consist of spell, sort words, stop words, etc. For example, that is a case of sort words in which this '다한', '한다', '多汗', '汗多' as same. A phonetic notation consist of palatalization, initial law, etc. For example, that is a case of palatalization in which this '수족랭', '수족냉', '手足冷', '手足冷' as same. Therefore, to enlarged reference terminology is a method by term's normalization. For such a reason, TKM's terms of normalization is necessary.

  • EXPRESS is product information description language. It is interpretable by human and software. Product data written in EXPRESS make it possible to exchange between heterogeneous systems. However, the number of software that can use EXPRESS is limited and it is expensive to use the software. XML makes it possible to update and manage data on the Web. Because the Web is easier to use and access than other tools comparatively, data represented by XML need not depend on specific applications or systems and it can be used for exchange of data. Therefore, if we represent EXPRESS-driven data in XML, there will be more active data exchange widely and easily In this work, a method of translation EXPRESS document to XML DTD and XML Schema is proposed. By classification all of EXPRESS syntax element and consideration complex cases caused by this syntax element, a translation rule that represent XML DTD and XML Schema is suggested. Also, a translator which is corresponding to this rule is implemented.

  • Purpose of this study is to examine and investigate the utilization of low-rise floor Pilotis space which is frequently selected as a major planning element in recent high-rise apartment complex and to identify the interrelationship between the placement of Pilotis space in the complex and space utilization frequency by comparing circulation related indicators of Connectivity, Control Value, Global Integration and Local Integration through Space Syntax axial analysis. Conclusions of this study are, first, Pilotis space is not used as a space to improve regional community consciousness because it is mostly used as a 'simple movement space'. Second, regarding space utilization frequency differences in Pilotis space in each apartment building, projecting entry access+pilotis addition type complex shows more significant utilization frequency than pilotis access type complex, and the vandalism phenomenon is observed more often. Third, Pilotis space utilization is related with Connectivity, Control Value, Global Integration and Local Integration which are circulation related indicators in Space Syntax, and Pilotis spaces with high indicator values over 2 tend to show higher utilization frequency and those with low indicator values over 2 tend to show low utilization frequency.

  • The location selection of the element that should guarantee easy visual perception, like the landmark, is the a topic that appears much in the design process. Recently, a graph analysis technique using computers has been applied in order to evaluate the visibility of the visual element, but the analytic frame is flat and the setting of the visual pont and the matrix are fixed so there were great limitations in obtaining the results of the practical analysis. Thus, this study presented Nondirectional Multi-Dimensional Calculation (MDVC-N), an analytic methodology available for the analysis of the dynamic visual point in the 3D environment. It thus attempted to establish the analytic application using the 3D computer graphics technology and designed a script structure to set the visual point and the matrix. In addition to that, this study tried to verify the analytic methodology by applying the complex land as an example model, where buildings in various heights of terrains with a high-differences are located, verifying the same analytic methodology. It thus tried to identify the visual characteristics of each alternative location. The following results were gained from the study. 1) The visibility can be measured quantitatively trough the application of the 6-alternatives. 2) Using the 3dimensional graph, intuitive analysis was possible. 3) It attempted to improve the analytic applicability by calculating the results corrected as a variable behavior from the local integration variable of the space syntax.

  • XML is being watched with keen interest for the communication and saving of information. Information represented in XML provides more accuracy and a higher-speed of reference after the process of being implication. But, it is difficult that XML document is exchanged or shared in different area such as electronic commerce or digital library. Because, XML document is being different in syntax but similar in logic, with using structured difference analysis. In this thesis, we converted object-oriented class diagram to XML DTD and designed an index mechanism based on the structure information for the converted XML DTD. With our methods, we could effectively and lastly retrieve the specific element and respect to usefully access element by simple operations.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is analyze linkage and spatial and structural characteristics of outpatient department and diagnosis/treatment area of geriatric hospitals based on quantitative analysis, according to function and corridor types. Methods: To examine structural characteristics and correlation of outpatient department and diagnosis/treatment area of six geriatric hospitals according to the corridor type, were systemized according to the function and corridor type and made into a j-graph, and an index was created by using space syntax to understand spatial characteristics. Results: 1) Different functional spaces are connected by a corridor, which, therefore, can be an axis of the connectivity and linkage of functional spaces and an important element in a clear hierarchy. 2) Treatment areas were disconnected from different functional spaces and, therefore, the accessibility was low. Many hospitals had an arrangement plan for treatment and diagnosis areas, and recent hospitals have segmented treatment areas within the rehabilitation space, which resulted in deeper space. 3) In terms of the level of integration, more integrated reception area meant shallower spatial depth, and deeper space for treatment and diagnosis areas. Implications: Spatial relation of outpatient department of geriatric hospitals was analyzed based on characteristics of the elderly.

  • The object of this study is upper class house in Yang-dong village with the purpose of spatial-sociological study of traditional Korean architecture. Space is the basic element of architecture and is fundamental for understanding architecture. Space, however, can be better understood through its social context rather than through its physical or psychological attributes. Space exists in a society, providing the physical environment which frames it Social environment affects the thoght of people who are members of that society. Space is built by the people in a society and is affected by their thought. Spatial-sociological study can explain a mutual relation between people and space through context. It defines characteristics of space based on mutual relations which exist among the people, the culture of society and the environment of society but also having a sociological component, study of architectural space should consider the social context. Since architectural space is built on social and cultural bases, to understand it requires various methods of study Spatial-sociological analysis is one alternative. Using space syntax, this study analyzes houses in Yang-dong village by not only defining attributes of individual houses, but also common attributes of houses in the village. Based on common attributes of houses in the village, the attributes of Yang-dong village houses can be re-defined within the social context. the results from a spatial-sociological analysis of upper class housing of the Yang-dong village are as follows; (1) Related to confucian ideas in Chosun Dynasty : A house has a dualistic center organized with 'an-chae' and 'sarang-chae'. 'an-chae' space is organized unsociably from outside. (2) Related to various space pattern of Yang-dong village House in the Chosun Dynasty period :As variations in the types of space pattern, the village house exhibit different attributes.
