In this paper I discuss a more complicated case of 'It'-Extraposition in English in the Optimality Theory [1] by further modifying and extending the analysis done in Khym (2018) [2] in which only the 'relatively' simple cases of 'It'-Extraposition such as 'CP-Predicate' was dealt with. I show in this paper that the constraints and the constraint hierarchy developed to explain the 'relatively' simple cases of 'It'-Extraposition are no longer valid for the more complicated cases of 'It'-Extraposition in configuration of 'CP-V-CP'. In doing so, I also discuss two important theoretic possibilities and suggest a new view to look at the 'It'-Extraposition: first, the long-bothering question of which syntactic approach between P&P (Chomsky 1985) [3] and MP (Chomsky 1992) [4] should be based on in projecting the full surface forms of candidates may boil down to just a simple issue of an intrinsic property of the Gen(erator). Second, the so-called 'It'- Extraposition phenomenon may not actually be a derived construction by the optional application of Extraposition operation. Rather, it could be just a representational construction produced by the simple application of 'It'-insertion after the structure projection with 'that-clause' at the post-verbal position. This observation may lead to elimination of one of the promising candidates of '$It_i{\ldots}[_{CP}that{\sim}]_i$' out of the computation table in Khym [2], and eventually to excluding the long-named 'It'-Extraposition case from Extrsposition phenomena itself. The final constraints and the constraint hierarchy that are explored are as follows: ${\bullet}$ Constraints: $^*SSF$, AHSubj, Subj., Min-D ${\bullet}$ Constraint Hierarchy: SSF<<>>Subj.>> AHSubj.
Modern poetry begins as criticism of modernity and, by so doing, rejects its idea of time. Modernity emphasizes sequential, linear, and irreversible time and progress. Williams rejects the modern view of time, and attempts to substitute literature for history assuming that literature can take us into the immediacy of time. His poetry asserts the true moment of experience as an immediacy, of words co-existent with things. He suggests that modernity and its idea of time already led to World War I and could clearly lead to an actual, manmade apocalypse with continued technological progress. Already in the 1920s, Williams sensed that he was living in a world where such an end could come all true, which is why Spring and All, his greatest early achievement, begins with a parody of the modern apocalypse. Throughout the work, Williams criticizes "crude symbolism" and expresses his longing to annihilate "strained associations," for he believes that the metaphoric or symbolic association is related to order, the center, and the traditional concept of time itself. The metonymic model of Spring and All substitutes a self-reflexive, open-ended, and indeterminate structure of time for the linear and closed one. Instead of supplying an end, Williams only asserts the rebirth of time and attempts to arrive at immediacy while attacking the mediacy of traditional art. His characteristic use of fragmentation and abrupt juxtapositions disrupts the reader's generic, conceptual, syntactic, and grammatical expectations. His radical poetic experiments, such as the isolation of words and the disruption of syntax, produce a sense of immediacy and force the reader to confront the presence of the poem. His destruction of traditional forms, of the tyrannous designs of history and time, opens up rather than closes the possibility of signification, and takes us into a moment of beginning while disallowing temporal distancing. Spring and All, as a criticism of the modern idea of time, asks us to view Williams's work not as an ahistorical text but as a cultural subversion of modernity.
In general, a corpus contains lots of linguistic information and is widely used in the field of natural language processing and computational linguistics. The creation of such the corpus, however, is an expensive, labor-intensive and time-consuming work. To alleviate this problem, annotation tools to build corpora with much linguistic information is indispensable. In this paper, we design and implement an annotation tool for establishing a Korean dependency tree-tagged corpus. The most ideal way is to fully automatically create the corpus without annotators' interventions, but as a matter of fact, it is impossible. The proposed tool is semi-automatic like most other annotation tools and is designed to edit errors, which are generated by basic analyzers like part-of-speech tagger and (partial) parser. We also design it to avoid repetitive works while editing the errors and to use it easily and friendly. Using the proposed annotation tool, 10,000 Korean sentences containing over 20 words are annotated with dependency structures. For 2 months, eight annotators have worked every 4 hours a day. We are confident that we can have accurate and consistent annotations as well as reduced labor and time.
Analysis of the syntactic structure of the modern Chinese adverbs for time 'Cengjing (曾經)' and 'Yijing (已經)' was performed to examine the tenses and aspects of the terms. The corresponding Korean words were examined and the terms in both languages were compared. The syntactic structures used in China and South Korea were found to be different. We hope the study of the Chinese language will help Korean students. 'Cengjing (曾經)' specific projects with 'aspect' of, 'Past experience aspect', 'Past continuous aspect', 'Past continuous aspect' in the past tense. [ED: unclear, please reword] These correspond to '_었 (았)_', '_었었_' in the Korean language. 'Yijing (已經)' has 'finished phase' of concrete projects, 'Past experience aspect', 'Past continuous aspect', also has a specific project tense, the 'past tense', 'present tense', 'future tense', and so tense. [ED: unclear, please reword] Adjectives can also be modified with a 'change of status'. These correspond to '_었 (았)_', '_고_', '_었었_', '곧' etc. in Korean. 'Cengjing (曾經)' and the dynamic auxiliary 'Guo (過)' were compared to determine whether they have the aspect and tense features. However, 'Guo (過)' can only modify the predicate verb, so it possesses only aspect characteristics. 'Cengjing (曾經)' modifies the range more widely. 'Yijing (已經)' may be modified by the adverb 'Zai (在)' whereas 'Cengjing (曾經)' may not. Additionally, 'Yijing (已經)' can be modified by predicate adjectives and noun predicates, while 'Cengjing (曾經)' cannot.
The purpose of this paper was to examine universal dependency UD application cases of Korean and Japanese with similar morphological characteristics. In addition, UD application and improvement methods of Korean were examined through comparative analysis. Korean and Japanese are very well developed due to their agglutinative characteristics. Therefore, there are many difficulties to apply UD which is built around English refraction. We examined the application of UPOS and DEPREL as components of UD with discussions. In UPOS, we looked at category problem related to narrative such as AUX, ADJ, and VERB, We examined how to handle units. In relation to the DEPREL annotation system, we discussed how to reflect syntactic problem from the basic unit annotation of syntax tags. We investigated problems of case and aux arising from the problem of setting dominant position from Korean and Japanese as the dominant language. We also investigated problems of annotation of parallel structure and setting of annotation basic unit. Among various relation annotation tags, case and aux are discussed because they show the most noticeable difference in distribution when comparing annotation tag application patterns with Korean. The case is related to both Korean and Japanese surveys. Aux is a secondary verb in Korean and an auxiliary verb in Japanese. As a result of examining specific annotation patterns, it was found that Japanese aux not only assigned auxiliary clauses, but also auxiliary elements to add the grammatical meaning to the verb and form corresponding to the end of Korean. In UD annotation of Japanese, the basic unit of morphological analysis is defined as a unit of basic syntactic annotation in Japanese UD annotation. Thus, when using information, it is necessary to consider how to use morphological analysis unit as information of dependency annotation in Korean.
The Visual Object Query Language (VOQL) recently proposed for object databases has been successful in visualizing path expressions and set-related conditions, and providing formal semantics. However, VOQL has several problems. Due to unrealistic assumptions, only set-related conditions can be represented in VOQL. Due to the lack of explicit language construct for the notion of variables, queries are often awkard and less intuitive. In this paper, we propose VOQL*, which extends VOQL to remove these drawbacks. We introduce the notion of visual variables and refine the syntax and semantics of VOQL based on visual variables. We carefully design the language constructs of VOQL* to reflect the syntax of OOPC, so that the constructs such as visual variables, visual elements, VOQL* simple terms, VOQL* structured terms, VOQL* basic formulas, VOQL* formulas, and VOQL* query expressions are hierarchically and inductively constructed as those of OOPC. Most important, we formally define the semantics of each language construct of VOQL* by induction using OOPC. Because of the well-defined syntax and semantics, queries in VOQL* are clear, concise, and intuitive. We also provide an effective procedure to translate queries in VOQL* into those in OOPC. We believe that VOQL* is the first visual query language with the well-defined syntax reflecting the syntactic structure of logic and semantics formally defined by induction.

From the perspectives of grammaticalization and corpus, the purpose of this study is to examine the motivation of the emergence of the split infinitives in American English and to discuss the justification of the split infinitives based on the corpus empirical data such as COHA and COCA. The formerly ungrammatical split infinitives in the form of [to + adverb + verb] are now definitely grammatical forms in Present Day English (PDE). The corpus-based data confirms the legitimacy of the split infinitives with the empirical reasons like clarifying sentences (i.e., disambiguation) or strongly focused readings. In addition, the split infinitives are natural consequences caused by the grammaticalization of an infinitival particle to and most crucially by the loss of verb movement. When verb movement to T position does not occur in infinitival clauses, the word order results in [to + AdvP + V], thus forming the split infinitives. The split infinitives are no longer a matter of discussion and will continue to increase in both formal and informal contexts as being definitely grammatical forms.

In this paper, we present an effective method for comparing control flow graphs which represent static structures of binary programs. To compare control flow graphs, we measure similarities by comparing instructions and syntactic information contained in basic blocks. In addition, we also consider similarities of edges, which represent control flows between basic blocks, by edge extension. Based on the comparison results of basic blocks and edges, we match most similar basic blocks in two control flow graphs, and then calculate the similarity between control flow graphs. We evaluate the proposed edge extension method in real world Java programs with respect to structural similarities of their control flow graphs. To compare the performance of the proposed method, we also performed experiments with a previous structural comparison for control flow graphs. From the experimental results, the proposed method is evaluated to have enough distinction ability between control flow graphs which have different structural characteristics. Although the method takes more time than previous method, it is evaluated to be more resilient than previous method in comparing control flow graphs which have similar structural characteristics. Control flow graph can be effectively used in program analysis and understanding, and the proposed method is expected to be applied to various areas, such as code optimization, detection of similar code, and detection of code plagiarism.
When a system is developed, requirements document is generated by requirement analysts and then translated to formal specifications by specifiers. If a formal specification can be generated automatically from a natural language requirements document, system development cost and system fault from experts' misunderstanding will be decreased. A pronoun can be classified in personal and demonstrative pronoun. In the characteristics of requirements document, the personal pronouns are almost not occurred, so we focused on the decision of antecedent for a demonstrative pronoun. For the higher accuracy in analysis of requirements document automatically, finding antecedent of demonstrative pronoun is very important for elicitation of formal requirements automatically from natural language requirements document via natural language processing. The final goal of this research is to automatically generate formal specifications from natural language requirements document. For this, this paper, based on previous research [3], proposes an anaphora resolution system to decide antecedent of pronoun using natural language processing from natural language requirements document in Korean. This paper proposes heuristic rules for the system implementation. By experiments, we got 92.45%, 69.98% as recall and precision respectively with ten requirements documents.
