This paper deals with the implementation of speech disorder detection system based on machine learning classification. Problems with speech are a common early symptom of a stroke or other brain injuries. Therefore, detection of speech disorder may lead to correction and fast medical treatment of strokes or cerebrovascular accidents. The speech disorder system can be implemented by extracting features from the input speech and classifying the features using machine learning algorithms. Ten machine learning algorithms with various scaling methods were used to discriminate speech disorder from normal speech. The detection system was evaluated by the TORGO database which contains dysarthric speech collected from speakers with either cerebral palsy or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
This paper is a study to find the philological basis of Bihoon (鼻熏) therapy. There is no separate philological study of Bihoon therapy to date, and for this reason, there is no clear definition or specific treatment manual. In this study, a related database was created and analyzed by examining literature data related to Bihoon therapy, focusing on Korean traditional medical books. There were about 1,000 data points related to Bihoon therapy in 45 kinds of medical books. They were largely classified into 1. Acute diseases such as insensitivity, 2. Diseases that occur in the upper human body such as nose, head, eyes, and throat, 3. Women's diseases related to childbirth, 4. Treatment of skin diseases and prevention of infectious diseases. In the case of insensitivity treatment, the focus was on awakening the patient's mind, and the treatment of diseases such as the nose, head, eyes, etc. was focused on resolving each symptom. Symptoms related to childbirth were mainly treated for uterine escapism or fainting after childbirth, while skin diseases were mainly treated for diseases that did not heal well, such as amniotic fluid. If a multifaceted approach to non-discipline therapy is added in the future, it is expected that clinical utilization will also be increased.
The study analyzed a diachronic distribution, social meanings and social evaluations of ROOJIN. 'Headline Database of Newspaper Articles' and 'Balanced Corpus of Contemporary Written Japanese' by KOKKEN were used as research data. There were 305 newspaper articles (About 0.2%) which contained the word ROOJIN at 'Headline Database of Newspaper Articles'. The number of newspaper articles related to ROOJIN started to increase in a rapid rate in 1972 and 1973. They were also increased in 1976, from 1981 to 1987, 1992 and 1993. The reasons of increasing of newspaper articles related to ROOJIN on those 4 periods of time could be summarized as follows. Firstly, there was a increasement of ROOJIN who are lonely, are not able to move about freely or live alone. Secondly, the understanding of a symptom of aging called BOKE was necessary. Thirdly, there were negative evaluations in a society towards ROOJIN. There were 453 cases which contained the word ROOJIN at 'Balanced Corpus of Contemporary Written Japanese' on the data since 2000. The most frequently used words were ones that are related to senior care facilities. There were 109 cases (24%) which contain those words. '~SISETSU', '~SENTA-', '~HO-MU' were presented as words related to senior care facilities. Among them, 78 cases contained the word '~HO-MU' which was similar to a home with family members. The second most frequently used words were ones that are related to 'welfare for the aged' and they are led by 'medical care for the aged'. They occupied about 8%. Institutionalization of medical care for the aged, medical expenses, nursing were presented as words related to 'medical care for the aged'. Words that were related to 'welfare for the aged' led by 'senior care facilities' and 'medical care for the aged' occupied about 32% of research data. As mentioned above, problems of the aged in Modern Japan such as negative evaluations in a society towards ROOJIN, ROOJIN who are lonely, are not able to move about freely or live alone, BOKE could be identified by analyzing the data. Also, The frequent usage of words such as 'Home for the aged', 'medical care for the aged' and 'nursing' could be identified. The outcome of analysis suggested that a family traditionally had a function of solving problems of the aged but that function was reduced in modern Japan. It also suggested that there was a tendency to outsource problems of the aged as much as possible.

Objectives: An outbreak of humidifier disinfectant-related respiratory disease has not only been a massive disaster for end users, but it is also a concern for the workers of the manufacturers. This study presents the results of a questionnaire survey on the health effects among workers involved in the manufacture of humidifier disinfectants. Methods: Seven sites where humidifier disinfectants were manufactured were identified. A questionnaire survey was conducted to assess the physical symptoms experienced by workers related to humidifier disinfectants. Among a total of 177 workers, 42 subjects were available for the survey. Results: Twenty-one of the 42 respondents reported that they experienced respiratory or skin and mucosal irritation symptoms during work. Of the respondents who experienced symptoms, 14 believed that their symptoms were related to the work process and reported that the symptoms were experienced while working. However, no respondents reported ongoing symptoms or sequelae during the investigation period, and this result could not minimize selection bias due to low response rates. We then compared the characteristics of the group who experienced suspicious symptoms with those of the group without any symptoms. There was no statistically significant difference between two groups. Conclusions: We could not find significant health effects related to the humidifier disinfectant manufacturing process, although 21 respondents experienced stimulant symptoms and 14 respondents believed that the symptoms were related to the work process. Due to the long period of time after occupational exposure and the lack of data, there were many limitations to this study. However, this is one of the few follow-up investigations of workers related to this large-scale disaster in South Korea and the limitations of this study highlight the need to follow up with a nationwide database rather than an occasional survey.
Objective: The purpose of this research is to investigate Chinese clinical studies of the treatment of hiccup after stroke with herbal medicine. Methods: We used the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database to search for clinical studies about using herbal medicine to treat hiccup after stroke. Results: Nineteen clinical articles Until August 31, 2017 were analyzed. The most commonly used herbal prescription was Xuanfudaizhe-tang (旋覆代?湯). According to analysis, the most commonly used medical herbs were Haematitum (代?石), Inulae Flos (旋覆花), and Pinelliae Tuber (半夏). Clinical symptoms, total incidence rate of adverse reaction, recurrence rate, symptom improvement time, patient satisfaction comparison, and dietary status improvement were used to evaluate the treatments. The effective rate of the treatment group was 86.0-97.8%, significantly higher than control group in all papers. Side effects occurred much less frequently in the treatment group than in the western medicine control group. Conclusion: The treatment of hiccup after stroke with herbal medicine was shown to be highly effective in 19 studies. Additional well-designed clinical trials are needed; this study can be used as a basis for further research regarding the treatment of hiccup after stroke.

A mutant of Potato vims Y (PVY) was occurred in PVY resistance flue-cured tobacco breeding line KF0402 $(TC1146{\times}KF117)$ showing vein necrosis at Suwon in Korea. This isolate, PVY-SWM, was differentiated from other PVY based on biological properties and nucleotide sequence analyses of coat protein gene. PVY-SWM caused typical symptoms on 21 indicator plants as compared to the PVY-TOJC37. Remarkably, the PVY-SWM induced distinctly different symptom of systemic vein necrosis on tobacco cultivars V.SCR, PBD6, TN86, TN90, Virgin A Mutant (VAM), Wislica, NC744, KB108 and KB111, which were reported to have the recessive potyvirus resistance gene va. In RT-PCR assays with specific primers for detection of PVY, a single band of about 800bp in length was produced. The amplified DNA was cloned and the nucleotide sequence was determined. The coat protein gene of PVY-SWM showed 88.4%-99.0% and 92.5%-98.5% identities to the 12 different PVY isolates of Genbank Database at the nucleotide and amino acidi respectively. Multiple alignments as well as cluster dendrograms of PVY-SWM isolate revealed close phylogenetic relationship to the $PVY^{NTN}$ subgroup.
Objectives The aim of this review is to analyse the study tendency in papers related with delphi method which are published in Korea from 2006 to 2015. Methods We searched the electronic database (NDSL, RISS, Korean traditional knowledge portal, OASIS) and checked relevant Korean journals from 2006 to 2015. 23 research papers were found and they were analyzed according to the year of publishment, the titles of journals which have the papers, the time of repeated survey and purpose of technique application. Results 1. As we analyzed by years, 2.3 papers were published per year on average. 2. As we analyzed by jounals in which papers were published, 39% of total papers were published in The Journal of the Society of Korean Medicine Diagnostics, 30% were in Korean Journal of Oriental Physiology & Pathology, taking up 69% of total papers. 3. As we analyzed by the number of survey taken in each research, 11 papers surveyed 2 times, 7 papers surveyed 3 times, 1 paper suerveyed one time. 4. As we analyzed by the purpose of technique application, 91% of papers were aimed at the development of questions, 9% of papers were aimed at policy recommendation. Conclusions These results suggest that although many researches were trying to quantify the symptom of patient, to demonstrate on exact data and to accomplish the scientification of diagnosis, the number of paper is insufficient. Therefore, it seems that more researches must be taken afterward.

Methods: We collected and analyzed CPGs and related data about esophageal cancer by searching the database of domestic and foreign articles. Results: There were little contents or proposals related to Korean Medicine (KM) or Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), those related to KM or TCM can be found only in "Guidelines of Diagnosis and Therapy in Oncology with Traditional Chinese Medicine (惡性腫瘤中醫診療指南)". They were symptom factors, syndrome differentiation (SD) and 'treatment process of esophageal cancer by combination of western medicine and Korean medicine'. Conclusions: The topics of the development Korean medicine CPG for EC are (1) the method and procedure about combination of western medicine and Korean medicine (2) the process of SD and diagnosis (3) safety and efficacy of the herbal medicine and preparation (4) availability and timing of the tools related to KM or TCM like acupuncture, moxibustion, massage, etc.
Objectives The purpose of this study is to analyze studies about the effects of topical application of Chinese herbal medicine for allergic rhinitis within randomized controlled trials (RCT). Methods The search database includes KJTK (Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal), OASIS (Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated system), CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure), PubMed, and EMBASE. We used the following key search terms: "allergic rhinitis", "traditional Chinese medicine", "traditional Korean medicine", "Chinese herbal medicine", "randomized controlled trial", "clinical study", "nasal spray", and "nasal drop" Results Five studies were selected for analysis. Three studies used nasal spray of Chinese herbal medicine and two studies used nasal drops of Chinese herbal medicine for the intervention. Frequently used herbs were Magnoliae Flos (辛夷), Scutellariae Radix (黃芩), Coptidis Rhizoma (黃連), and Astragali Radix (黃芪). For the outcome measures, studies used symptom score, questionnaire of Quality of Life, nasal airway resistance, or laboratory studies. From all 5 studies, it has been shown that topical application of Chinese herbal medicine was effective for improving symptoms of allergic rhinitis. Two out of five studies showed statistical difference between study group and control group. Conclusions This study shows that topical application of Chinese herbal medicine can improve symptoms of allergic rhinitis. Well-designed RCT studies with low risk of bias and studies with outcome measures for assessing the immunomodulatory effects are necessary to confirm these findings.
