This paper examines the meaning and significance of the rebirths narrated in Sylvia Plath's "Lady Lazarus." While the previous readings of the poem have regarded the speaker's rebirth as a single event, this paper aims to understand its plurality and the underlying problem of language and sound by listening to the poet's own reading of the poem. I argue first that the sound structure of the poem can be characterized by the poet's unique employment of vowel sounds. Drawing upon Plath's another poem entitled "Morning Song" and Julia Kristeva's concept of the chora, I contend that the poet's vowels signal her desire for regression to the pre-Oedipal space where sound and body are in direct contact without the interference of language. It is my conclusion that the rebirths in "Lady Lazarus" dramatize the poet's ongoing struggle to bypass the symbolic language in order to make her body heard.

The essay focuses on the relationship between the soldiers and the oppressed women in Lynn Nottage's Ruined (2009) in terms of Julia Kristeva's abject to show how the abjected Congolese women expose the falsehood of the order and identity that the military forces try to construct and maintain by war and violence. According to Kristeva, the abject is something that is rejected for the repulsion and horror it arouses but constantly draws the subject to it at the same time. Physically impaired and socially stigmatized, sexually abused Congolese women find a shelter in Mama Nadi's bar, the only place where they can continue their lives as the abject since the place, like the women themselves, lies outside the symbolic order occupied and corrupted by the men of DRC. Although the men involved in the armed conflict have abjected the women in pursuit of their own system and order, the women are not simply the objects of abuse and oppression. The men have to rely on Mama Nadi and her women not only to reaffirm their identity and power by suppressing them but also to fulfill their biological needs. In addition, the women's resistance against the soldiers demonstrates their power to challenge the men's symbolic order and expose its frailty. Apropos of the abject's resistance, various artistic genres such as poetry, music and dance appear in the play as an escape from the grim reality and a means of challenging and transcending the symbolic order. Bringing all these artistic elements together into a powerful piece of theatre-often considered as an 'abject' genre nowadays, Nottage demonstrates both the power of theatre as well as the tenacious Congolese women.

Gloria Naylor's second novel Linden Hills (1985) explores the issues of self-exploration, empowerment, history, and memory by delineating the communal and familial tragedies and the distortion of values prevalent in a prosperous African-American urban community called Linden Hills. Drawing upon the Freud's concept of "primal scene" and "family romance," this paper aims to focus upon the Nedeed family, the founder of Linden Hills, and investigate the compelling traumatogenic force within the family, which is inseparably intertwined with the inversion of values and moral corruption permeating the entire community. The "primal crime" committed by the Nedeed ancestors serves to preserve and perpetuate a tyrannical rule by ruthless patriarchs who reign by underhanded strategies of purposefully neglecting and abusing others, including their own wives. The imprisonment, by Luther Nedeed, of his wife Willa in the family morgue epitomizes the long legacy running in the family-the oppression and burial of the pre-Oedipal, maternal history. Willa's accidental encounter, at the nadir of the family estate and her personal despair, with the faded records of the forgotten and abused Nedeed women exposes the violence-ridden ground of the family's primal scene and the absurdity of family romance the Nedeeds pursued. As the several lines of poem composed by Willie, Willa's male double, show, the hidden, forgotten history of the Nedeed women, in a sense, is the real, which cannot be assimilated to the social symbolic governed by the inhumane patriarchy of the Nedeed family and the success-oriented Linden Hills society. By portraying a catastrophic downfall of the Nedeed family and the futile outcome of its family romance, the ending of Linden Hills conveys implicitly that the contingent symbolic order and its oppressive control, however solid and invincible they may seem, can be toppled down by the real, its nameless forgotten Other.

본문에서는 순수 함수형 언어인 하스켈로 작성된 심볼릭 실행의 병렬화를 위한 상태 모나드 기반의 라이브러리에 결정적 병렬화를 적용하기 편리한 API를 설계/구현하고 멀티코어 컴퓨터에서 벤치마크를 통해 실제 성능을 향상을 확인해 본다. 일반적으로 순수 함수형 프로그램은 병렬화가 쉽다고 알려져 있으나 실제 구현에서 핵심 알고리듬 외적인 부분에서 의도치 않은 순차적 데이터 의존성의 발생으로 병렬화가 어려워질 수 있다. 심볼릭 실행 구현에서는 지금껏 사용했던 변수와 겹치지 않는 새 이름을 생성함으로써 서로 다른 범위의 이름이 같은 변수끼리 혼동하는 착오를 피하는 방식을 종종 활용한다. 그런데 이를 순차적 상태 관리로 구현한 경우가 많아 병렬화에 걸림돌이 된다. 이 논문에서는 하스켈의 범용적 이름 관리 라이브러리인 unbound-generics의 새 이름 생성 기능에 순차적 의존성을 회피할 수 있는 확장 기능을 제공함으로써 병렬적 심볼릭 실행 구현을 간소화하는 데 기여하였다. 우리가 구현한 병렬화 확장의 특징은 기존 unbound-generics 라이브러리의 내부 구현을 그대로 유지한 상태의 확장이라는 점으로, 기존에 unbound-generics로 작성된 순차적 심볼릭 실행기의 성능 저하 우려가 전혀 없다는 점이다. 따라서 병렬화가 필요한 부분에만 확장 기능을 적용하는 방식으로 활용하여 성능을 개선할 수 있다.

This paper presents the bytecode-to-SIL translator which enables the execution of the java program in EVM(Embedded Virtual Machine) environment without JVM(java Virtual Machine), translating bytecodes produced by compiling java programs into SIL(Standard Intermediate Language) codes. EVM, what we are now developing, is a virtual machine solution that can download and execute dynamic application programs written in sequential languages like C language as well as object oriented languages such as C#, Java, etc. EVM is a virtual machine mounted on embedded systems such as mobile device, set-top box, or digital TV, and converts the application program into SIL, an assembly language symbolic form, and execute it. SIL is a virtual machine code for embedded systems, based on the analysis of existing virtual machine codes such as bytecode, MSIL, etc. SIL has such features as to accommodate various programming languages, and in particularly has an operation code set to accept both object-oriented languages and sequential languages. After compiling, a program written in java language is converted to bytecode, and also executed by JVM platform but not in other platform such as .NET, EVM platform. For this reason, we designed and implemented the bytecode-to-SIL translator system for programs written in java language to be executed in the EVM platform without JVM. This work improves the execution speed of programs, enhances the productivity, and provides an environment for programmers to execute application programs at various platforms.

주체는 의식과 무의식의 상호작용에 따라 구축되고, 주체의 욕망도 이 과정을 통해 끊임없이 생산되면서 변화한다. 그러나 의식적 주체는 욕망의 명확한 실체를 파악하지 못한다. 무의식의 순수한 욕망은 언어와 법의 영역인 상징계의 질서와 전혀 무관하며, 순수한 욕망만을 추구하기 때문이다. 이와 같이 의식과 초자아에 의해 검열되어 상징계에서 기각된 무의식의 욕망은 영화라는 환상의 무대를 통해 실재계의 간극을 드러내면서 끝임 없는 욕망을 생산할 수 있게 된다. 본 연구에서는 욕망의 원인인 '대상 a'에 의해 욕망이 잉태되고, 이를 향한 주체와 또 다른 욕망을 재생산하는 변증법적인 과정이 상징적으로 노출되고 실현되는 영화를 통해 영화와 관객의 정신분석학적 소통에 대해 분석하고자 한다.

A computer program for automatic deriving the symbolic equations of motion for robots using the programming language MATHEMATICA has been developed. The program, developed based on the Lagrange formalism, is applicable to the closed chain robots as well as the open chain robots. The closed chains are virtually cut open, and the kinematics and dynamics of the virtual open chain robot are analyzed. The constraints are applied to the virtually cut joints. As a result, the spatial closed chain robot can be considered as a tree structured open chain robot with kinematic constraints. The topology of tree structured open chain robot is described by a FATHER array. The FATHER array of a link indicates the link that is connected in the direction of base link. The constraints are represented by Lagrange multipliers. The parallel robot, DELTA, having three-dimensional closed chains is modeled and simulated to illustrate the approach.

In this paper, a hardware compiler for symbolic description language(SDL) is proposed for logic design automation. Lexical analysis is performed for SDL which describes the behavioral characteristics of a digital system at the register transfer level by the proposed algorithm I. The algorithm I is proposed to get the expressions for the control unit and for the data transfer unit. In order to obtain the network description language(NDL) expressions equivalent to gate-level logic circuits, another algorithm, the the algorithm II, is proposed. Syntax analysis for the data formed by the algorithm I is also Performed using circuit elements such as D Flip-Flop, 2-input AND, OR, and NOT gates. This SDL hardware compiler is implemented in the programming language C(VAX-11/750(UNIX)), and its efficiency is shown by experiments with logic design examples.

The purpose of this study was to observe cospla subculture in 1990s new generation of Korean youth, focused on activity that was reproducing the appearance of individual characters in animation, comic books and computer games, and to understand the representing process and meaning of appearance. The ethnographic methods including in-depth interviews and observation were used to approach such cultural form more closely from the youth generations perspective and their language. The results were as follows: 1. Although the cospla is originated from Japan, the local experience of Koreans make it the special youth subculture of Korea. 2. There are homological features and hierachical structure among group members of cospla subculture. The core values of Korean cospla are that they are realizing their ideal and elevating their own self-esteem. 3. Their appearance has connotation as symbolic resistance. The cultural activity of cospla is non-realistic, non-productive, but cosplayers conform to the social norm, too.

Data mining is a technique for extracting valuable information from vast amounts of data by analyzing statistical and mathematical operations, rules, and relationships. In this study, we employed data mining technology to analyze the data concerning the painting poetry of Maehwado (plum blossom paintings) from the early Joseon Dynasty. The data was extracted from the Hanguk Munjip Chonggan (Korean Literary Collections in Classical Chinese) in the Hanguk Gojeon Jonghap database (Korea Classics DB). Using computer information processing techniques, we carried out web scraping and classification of the painting poetry from the Hanguk Munjip Chonggan. Subsequently, we narrowed down our focus to the painting poetry specifically related to Maehwado in the early Joseon Dynasty. Based on this, refined dataset, we conducted an in-depth analysis and interpretation of the text data at the syllable corpus level. As a result, we found a direct correlation between the corpus statistics for each syllable in Maehwado painting poetry and the symbolic meaning of plum blossoms.
