This study aims to observe the features of Korean adjectives composed with symbolic base impling human character. Korean adjectives composed with symbolic base shows more delicate nuances than ordinary adjectives. For observing the feature of them we analyzed the 6000 symbolic words in 'Stanadard Korean Dictionary'. As a result,the symbolic base of adjectives is divided into the one that maintain the basic meaning of symbolic words and the other that do not maintain basic meaning of symbolic words. The base that maintain the basic meaning of symbolic words is divided into the one that has meaning of character and the other that do not has meaning of character. The base that do not maintain the basic meaning of symbolic words is divided into the one that can relate with '-hada' and the other that cannot relates with '-hada'. This study remains the problem in future to examine common points of symbolic base.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors related to the propensity for symbolic consumption and the effects of materialism, reference group, and social stratification on the symbolic consumption in clothing. Data were administered to 957 adolescence in middle, high school, and college student living in Seoul, Chonju, Sunchon, Yousu, and Kwangyang from May to June 1997. For analysis of the data, frequencies, percentage, means, standard deviation, factor analysis, 1-test, one-way anomia, duncan's multiple range test, and multiple regression analysis were employed. The results of this study can be summarized asfollows. 1) Symbolic consumption, materialism, and reference group were found to have the significant differences according to social stratification groups by objectivemethod. The higher social stratification is, the higher symbolic consumption, materialism, and reference group were. 2) symbolic consumption were proven to have the significant differences according to materiaiism and reference group. The higher materialism and the influence of referencegroup indicated, the higher symbolic consumption. 3)according to the results of the regression analysis examining the relative influences of variables affecting symbolic consumption in clothing, the relative importance of the variables are in order of : the influences of the reference group, materialism, social stratification, status inconsistency type (occupation-income), and their explanatory power totalled 40.0%.

This study, as part of a study on the visual impact and evaluation of the symbolic sculptures currently installed in counties in Jeollanam-do on the formation of Landscapes by local governments, investigated and analyzed the installation characteristics of symbolic sculptures by local governments. As a result, many local governments have installed local specialties and landmarks as symbolic sculptures, and the installation location is often installed in open spaces and in the center of roundabouts. It was investigated that the use of color or the color of the material as it is was preferred. It was found that more symbolic sculptures installed on the roadside were installed in the center of the roundabout or along the side of the street than installation at the gateway. It is considered that it is more effective to recognize the symbolism of the area to the tourists through the installation of the symbolic sculpture at the entrance of the area, the center of the roundabout, or the side of the road rather than the gate, because the size of the symbol is bigger in order to recognize the symbolism of the area due to the width of the large road when installing the symbolic sculpture at the gateway, It is considered.

The objective of this study is to consider the uniform as visual communication, and analyze the expression of symbol shown on the uniform design by the pattern by applying the visual symbol in the communication and operation of the meaning. Also, it is to construct the systematic modeling method of the expression of design symbol by the pattern of uniform in th e various fields. This study is to analyze the symbolic expression method of the uniform design by the pattern by suggesting the symbolic expression method as a frame through the visual symbolic approach of the uniform design and the analysis of semantic symbol according to that. As a result, there arose simplification and emphasis and a method of symbolic expression with the national flag, a conceptual factor characteristically in the sports uniform design. The characteristics of symbolic expression of uniform design were mainly used in the symbolic expression with the customary code and symbol. Also, the uniform in the enterprises were widely used in the expression of uniform with the suggestion and code by the color. As for the characteristics of symbolic expression shown on the event uniform design, the method of symbolic expression by the pattern of uniform was grasped differently asa result of symbolic expression through the image. The method of symbolic expression suggested on this study could be used on a basis of uniform design in the future. Accordingly, this study has a meaning of suggesting the methodology of uniform design that would be a parameter.

This paper presents the design of a layout processing system that performs circuit and symbolic extraction from hierarchical designs containing arbitrarily shaped layout. The system is flexible enough to deal with various technologies, MOS or bipolar, by providing extraction rules in the form of technology files. In this paper, new efficient algorithms for trapezoidal decomposition of polygon and symbolic path extraction using trapezoidal template are proposed for symbolic extraction. Circuit and symbolic extractor is developed as an integrated design environment of SOLID system.

In multibody dynamic analysis, one of the most important problems is to reduce computation times for real time simulation. In this paper, a symbolic computation method is implemented and tested for each dynamic analysis step. Applying symbolic formulations to the vehicle dynamics program AutoDyn7, the effectiveness of the symbolic computation method is verified.

This paper presents a symbolic method for solving a boundary value problem with inhomogeneous Stieltjes boundary conditions over integro-differential algebras. The proposed symbolic method includes computing the Green's operator as well as the Green's function of the given problem. Examples are presented to illustrate the proposed symbolic method.

오늘날 데이터는 p-차원의 공간에서 점들로써 표현되는 전통적인 형태를 벗어나 시그널(signal), 함수, 이미지(image), 모양(shape) 등과 같은 다양한 형태의 자료들이 데이터로써 고려되고 분석되고있다. 그러한 종류의 새로운 종류의 데이터 중 하나로 심볼릭 데이터(symbolic data)를 고려할 수 있다. 심볼릭 데이터는 구간(interval), 히스토그램(histogram), 목록(list), 통계표, 분포, 또는 모형 등과 같은 다양한 형태들을 가질 수 있다. 지금까지의 연구가 주로 심볼릭 데이터의 각각의 형태별 자료를 고려했다면, 본 연구에서는 이를 확장하여 수집된 히스토그램과 멀티모달의 혼합된 형태로 이루어진 자료에 대한 계층 분할적 군집분석방법을 소개하고 이를 업종별 산업재해자료의 분석을 위해 이용한다.

The purpose of this study is to find out the characteristics of landscape details in representing symbolic images in memorials on the themes of war, tragedy, and the democratization movement. In considering the characteristics of memorial landscapes, the researcher divided the characteristics of landscape details into 3 analysis categories. They are the symbolic application of landscape elements, the embodiment of landscape details, and the organization of landscape details to represent symbolic images, for example, memory, mourning, reflection, healing, glory, and identity. Among details in 24 memorials designed in or after 1970. 133 symbolic details were selected including 64 items in Korea. The analysis revealed that among 30 elements used by designers for memorialization, walls, ponds, sculptures were used more often than other elements in representing the meaning of mourning, reflection, and healing that are the basic function of memorial. In regard to detail form, the designers used basic shapes like circles, squares and rectangles, horizontal and vertical lines to heighten the symbolic effect of shapes in confined form. Stone and water utilized from nature were also used as main materials because of their materiality meaning of death, eternity, life, and healing. The techniques of using lighting, fire, and sound were introduced to make details more effective. Details were organized in harmony and repetition to represent the flew of time and space in symbolic images. The study identified the following characteristics of memorial landscapes in Korea that were different from other country first, in designing memorials, most designers in Korea have been more focused on the organization of space than the details in memorials, and so, they have been neglecting to deliver symbolic image through detail design, while depending mainly on the introduction of art works. Lastly, because they introduced traditional elements which have little relation with the symbolic image needed, there have been many details which inaccurately represent symbolic meanings.

최근 실내 공간 내에서의 위치 정보를 이용한 공간정보 서비스가 실외공간에서 제공되는 서 비스만큼 공간정보시스템의 중요한 응용분야로 자리 잡고 있다. 실외 공간과 달리, 실내 공간의 위치 정보는 좌표기반이 아닌, 방 번호와 같은 기호를 기반으로 표현된다. 따라서 실내공간에서 이동객체의 위치를 추적하기 위해서는 이동객체의 현재 위치를 이용하여 좌표정보를 예측하는 것이 아니라, 기호적 추론이 필요하다. 이에 본 논문에서는 RFID센서를 이용하여 이동객체의 위치를 항상 명시적으로 결정할 수 있는 추적가능 실내 기호공간을 위한 프레임웍을 제안한다. 우선, 실내기호공간과 실내기호공간에서의 위치추적에 대한 개념을 소개하고, 추적 가능한 실내 기호공간을 위한 접근성 그래프를 정의한다. 둘째로, RFID 리더기의 배치방법, 추적 가능한 실내기호공간을 위한 접근성 그래프 생성방법과 이를 이용한 위치 추적방법을 제시한다. 마지막으로, 제시한 방법의 유효성을 보이기 위하여 실험결과를 보인다.
