  • This paper deals with an experimental verification of a temperature-dependent power loss model of a DC/DC converter in severe temperature conditions. The power loss of a DC/DC converter is obtained by summing the losses by the components constituting the converter including switching elements, diodes, inductors, and capacitors. MIL-STD-810F stipulates that any electronic devices must be operable in the temperature ranging from $-50^{\circ}C$ to $70^{\circ}C$. We summarized the temperature-dependent loss models for the converter components. A SEPIC-type converter is designed and built as a target. Using a constant-temperature chamber, a test rig is set up to measure the power loss of the converter. The experimental results confirm the validity of the loss model within 4.5% error. The model can be useful to predict the efficiency of the converter at the operating temperature, and to provide guidelines in order to improve the efficiency.

  • In this paper, we describe several warm standby fault-tolerant models and their operation methods applicable to telephone switching control systems which have dual module structure and need high availability. Unavailabilities of the system implemented by four different methods for each model are computed by using the Markov state model, and then are compared for system performance evaluation. As the results ofsimulations, the warm standby model with triple processors is best in the aspect of data loss, while in most cases the warm standby model with doble processors based on no standby check method provides the highest system avaiability. Periodic changeover increases the system unavailability, but the preriodic standby check on standby module decreases the system unavailability of warm standby model with a single processor and with double processors. On the other hands, the variationas of warm standby model with a single processor and with double processors. On the other hand, the variations of data recovery time and personnel recovery rate have little effect on the system unavailtability.

  • In this paper, the development specification of the optical burst switching system (OBS) for next generation internet services is presented. The development specification includes the number of input/output nodes, the number of wavelengths, buffer capacity, the capacity/queue size of the controller and maximum burst assembly delay. From the performance parameters related to the OBS design, an mathematical model to maximize the throughput and minimize the data loss is presented, and then efficient heuristic algorithm is also presented to analyze the sensitivity of the system parameters.

  • The Clamp Mode(CM) Forward Zero Voltage Switching Multi Resonant Converter(ZVS-MRC) with self-driven synchronous rectifier in studied. The loss at the synchronous rectification stage of the converter is analyzed using MOSFET linear model and is compared with the loss at the conventional schottky diode rectification stage of the converter. From the results of the analysis, it is known that the use of MOSFETs as a synchronous rectifier reduces the loss at the rectification stage over the whole load range comparing the use of schottky diodes as a conventional rectifier in the converter. In order to verify the validity of the analysis, we have built a 33W(3.3V/10A) CM Forward ZVS-MRC with self-driven synchronous rectifier, in which switching frequency is 1MHz, and tested. From the experimental results, it is known that the synchronous rectification achieved about 1W improvement in the loss at the rectification stage and about 3% in the efficiency at the converter as compared with the conventional schottky diode rectification.

  • Multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) networks require dynamic flow admission control to guarantee end-to-end quality of service (QoS) for each Internet protocol (IP) traffic flow. In this paper, we propose to tackle the joint routing and admission control problem for the IP traffic flows in MPLS networks without rerouting already admitted flows. We propose two mathematical programming models for this problem. The first model includes end-to-end delay constraints and the second one, end-to-end packet loss constraints. These end-to-end QoS constraints are imposed not only for the new traffic flow, but also for all already admitted flows in the network. The objective function of both models is to minimize the end-to-end delay for the new flow. Numerical results show that considering end-to-end delay (or packet loss) constraints for all flows has a small impact on the flow blocking rate. Moreover, we reduces significantly the mean end-to-end delay (or the mean packet loss rate) and the proposed approach is able to make its decision within 250 msec.

  • In the current source type active power filter, the DC current source is implemented using an inductor with large inductance by maintaining the inductor current constantly. In this case, to compensate the loss of the switching devices of the power converter and the inductor, some real power should be supplied to the filter from the source. This process is analyzed through the equivalent circuit which expresses the loss of the switching devices and the inductor with the equivalent resistor R. This work discusses the validation of this DC side equivalent circuit and points out the problems, through the experiments using the experimental active power filter with 220V, 10KVA ratings, and suggests a more accurate equivalent circuit which puts the saturation voltage of the power transistors and the threshold voltage of the diodes into consideration.

  • In this paper, we propose the optimal offset-time decision (OOD) algorithm which can effectively reduce the pre-transmission delay compared to the perfect isolation model, and can also be extended to general n priority classes while the target loss probability of each class is guaranteed for the variable offered load. In order to drive the OOD algorithm, we first analyze the loss probability of each priority class through class aggregation and iteration method; the analytic results obtained through the proposed algorithm are then validated with results garnered from extensive simulation tests.

  • In this study, IGBT_Total_Loss and DIODE_Total_Loss were used to analyze the slope of the junction temperature for each section for temperature and duty variables in order to simply calculate the junction temperature of the power semiconductor (IGBT). As a result of the calculation, IGBT_Max_Junction_Temp and DIODE_Max_Junction_Temp form a proportional relationship with temperature for each duty. This simulation data shows that the power loss of a power semiconductor is calculated in a complex manner according to the current dependence index, voltage dependence index, and temperature coefficient. By applying the slope for each condition and section, the junction temperature of the power semiconductor can be calculated simply.

  • In medium-voltage and high-voltage high-power converters, the switching devices need to operate at a low switching frequency to reduce power loss and increase the power capacity. This increases the delay of the signal sampling and PWM. It also makes the cross-couplings of the d-q current components more severe. In addition, the LCL filter has three cross-coupling loops and is prone to resonance. In order to solve these problems, this paper establishes a complex vector model of an LCL type grid-connected converter. Based on this model, two multiple decoupling current control strategies with passive damping / notch damping are proposed for the LCL type grid-connected converter. The proposed strategies can effectively eliminate the cross-couplings of the converter, achieve independent control of the d-q current components, expand the stable region and suppress the resonance of the LCL filter. Simulation and experimental results verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis and the feasibility of the proposed strategies.
