Zero-Current-Switching in Full-Bridge DC-DC Converters Based on Activity Auxiliary Circuit

  • To address the problem of circulating current loss in the traditional zero-current switching (ZCS) full-bridge (FB) DC/DC converter, a ZCS FB DC/DC converter topology and modulation strategy is proposed in this paper. The strategy can achieve ZCS turn on and zero-voltage and zero-current switching (ZVZCS) turn off for the primary switches and realize ZVZCS turn on and zero-voltage switching (ZVS) turn off for the auxiliary switches. Moreover, its resonant circuit power is small. Compared with the traditional phase shift full-bridge converter, the new converter decreases circulating current loss and does not increase the current stress of the primary switches and the voltage stress of the rectifier diodes. The diodes turn off naturally when the current decreases to zero. Thus, neither reverse recovery current nor loss on diodes occurs. In this paper, we analyzed the operating principle, steady-state characteristics and soft-switching conditions and range of the converter in detail. A 740 V/1 kW, 100 kHz experimental prototype was established, verifying the effectiveness of the converter through experimental results.

무손실 스너버를 이용한 부분공진 스위칭에 의한 고효율 승압형 단상 컨버터 (Boost $1\Psi$ converter of high efficiency by partial resonant switching using lossless snubber)

  • 전력변환 시스템은 소형화, 경량화, 저잡음화를 실현하기 위하여 스위칭 주파수가 증대되어야 한다. 하지만 컨버터의 스위치들은 스위칭 스트레스와 많은 스위칭 전력손실을 동반한다. 이들 때문에 전력 시스템은 낮은 효율을 가져온다. 본 논문에서는 부분공진 모드에 의해 고효율의 승압형 단상 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안된 회로의 소자들은 소프트 스위칭으로 동작되며 이것의 제어기술은 일정 듀티 싸이클에서 동작되도록 스위치군을 간략화 하였다. 부분공진 회로는 승강압에 사용되는 인덕터와 무손실 스너버의 콘덴서를 사용한다. 또한, 이 회로는 종래의 회로가 가지는 스너버의 손실이 없는 스너버 콘덴서에 축적된 에너지를 입력전원 측으로 회생시킴으로서 효율증대의 장점이 있다. 그 결과 스위칭 손실이 매우 낮고 효율과 시스템 역률이 높게 된다. 제안된 컨버터는 전력용 스위칭 소자들이 사용되는 고출력의 응용분야에 가장 적합하다고 생각된다.

  • Loss analyses of two soft switching techniques for two-transistor forward converters are presented. The sums of snubber conduction and capacitive turn-on losses for two transistors are calculated to compare the losses of two techniques. While the conventional soft switching technique shows the loss difference between two transistors, proposed soft switching technique shows equal as well as lower loss in two transistors.

  • 대전력 전동기 구동장시스템에서 하드 스위칭 토폴로지는 심각한 스위칭 손실과 EMI잡음문제를 일으키며, 인버터 스위칭 주파수는 과도한 손실과 열적문제 때문에 제한되게 된다. 본 연구의 목적은 개선된 소프트 스위칭 토폴로지에 의해 스위칭손실과 EMI를 저감할 수 있는 대용량 교류전동기의 구동에 적합한 시스템을 개발하고자하며, 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통하여 그 타당성을 입증하였다.

  • Driving the electrodeless fluorescent lamp, the high ac voltage with high frequency is required. The linear power amplifier has been widely used as a driving circuit of electrodeless fluorescent lamp. However, the low efficiency of the power amplifier causes th driving circuit to be replaced by a PWM switching inverter. In order to use a PWM switching inverter as the driving circuit of an electrodeless fluorescent lamp, the high switching frequency is required. But due to the switching loss at switches of the inverter, the limitation of high switching frequency appears in the inverter. One solution to this limitation is to reduce the switching loss by using the zero voltage switching technique. In this paper, zero voltage switching resonant inverter for driving an electrodeless fluorescent lamp is discussed. The results of analysis about the inverter are presented and the equations for design are established. And the validity of the analyzed results are verified through the experiment.

  • Power conversion system must be increased switching frequency in order to achieve a small size, a light weight and a low noise. However, the switches of converter are subjected to high switching power losses and switching stresses. As a result of those, the power system brings on a low efficiency. In this paper, the authors propose a DC-DC boost converter of high power by partial resonant switch method (PRSM). The switching devices in a proposed circuit are operated with soft switching and the control technique of those is simplified for switch to drive in constant duty cycle. The partial resonant circuit makes use of a inductor using step up and a condenser of loss-less snubber. Also the circuit has a merit which is taken to increase of efficiency, as it makes to a regeneration at input source of accumulated energy in snubber condenser without loss of snubber in conventional circuit. The result is that the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of system is high. The proposed converter is deemed the most suitable for high power applications where the power switching devices are used.

치조정 골흡수에 대한 platform switching이 미치는 영향 (Influence of platform switching on crestal bone resorption)

  • Purpose: Numerous studies have shown that crestal bone resorption around the implant was related to the location of the implant abutment junction(IAJ). Recently it was hypothesized that platform switching termed the inward horizontal repositioning of the IAJ might limit bone resorption around the implants. The purpose of this clinical study was to evaluate the effect of platform switching on crestal bone resorption. Materials and Methods: The crestal bone loss of 65 external hex implants in 26 patients were radiographically measured at crown placement and follow-up examinations. 23 standard implants(non-platform switching group, NP) were connected with the matching abutments and 42 wide implants(platform switching group, PS) were connected with the 1 mm smaller diameter abutments. Results: There was significant difference of crestal bone loss between NP group and PS group. For implants in the NP group, mean crestal bone loss was $1.18{\pm}0.68\;mm$ at crown placement and $1.42{\pm}0.41\;mm$ at follow-up. The meal bone loss in PS group was $0.47{\pm}0.52\;mm$ at crown placement and $0.60{\pm}0.65\;mm$ at follow-up. When the crestal bone changes according to placement depths of implants were compared, subcrestal position of IAJ had a significantly less bone loss in PS group, but it was not in NP group. Conclusion: Within the limits of the present study, it was concluded that platform switching technique might decrease crestal bone loss around the implants. Additionally, when the IAJ of implant was placed 1 mm deeper in the alveolar bone, the effect of platform switching on bone loss was enhanced.

  • In this paper, Operation characteristics of the active clamp(ACL) zero-voltage-switching(ZVS) forward converter(FC) and active clamp hard- switching(HS) forward converter are compared with respect to loss analysis. The losses of semiconductor (including conduction losses and switching losses), transformer(containing the core loss and copper loss) and parasitic element of passive element (capacitor, inductor) are measured and compared for each type. For an experiment we have built 50W ACL ZVS-FC and ACL HS-FC, in which the switching frequency is 200kHz, and test it. The experimental results show that both types of operation have nearly same characteristics.

  • This paper proposes a new prototype auxiliary resonant DC link(ARDCL)snubber circuit and deals with its power loss on the basis of actually measured conduction loss characteristic of switching device module. Voltage-type soft switching three phase inverter using proposed ARDCL snubber circuit is presented along with its performance evaluations. And, the power loss analysis of three phase hard and soft switching inverter are carried out from the point of simulation and experimental results.

  • This paper presents an unipolar PWM which commutated switching device only in a half period. This method reduced switching loss significantly because of decreasing switching number in n period. In high speed motor drive needed high frequency above 300 Hz fundamental frequency, this method is suited very well. This paper described the principle of unipolar PWM method, analyzed harmonic spectrum and compared with bipolar PWM, Modified PWM and Overmodulation method in switching loss.
