  • This paper proposes a new prototype auxiliary resonant DC link(ARDCL)snubber circuit and deals with its power loss on the basis of actually measured conduction loss characteristic of switching device module. Voltage-type soft switching three phase inverter using proposed ARDCL snubber circuit is presented along with its performance evaluations. And, the power loss analysis of three phase hard and soft switching inverter are carried out from the point of simulation and experimental results.

  • Under high power IGBTs Switching, a large overvoltage is induced across the IGBT module due to the stray inductance in the circuit. This paper proposes a new gate drive circuit for high power IGBTs which can actively suppress the overvoltage across the driven IGBT at turn-off while preserving the most simple and reliable power circuit. The turn-off driving scheme has adaptive feature to the amplitude of collector current, so that the overvoltage can be limited much effectively at the fault collector current. Experimental results under various normal and fault conditions prove the effectiveness of the proposed.

  • A laser pulse generator which consists of charging resistor, energy storage capacitor laser diode, and switching elements was designed in order to generate 15ns, 20W laser pulses. And the effects of performances of SCR and FET as switching elements are compared. When SCR is used, the SCR's low maximum voltage makes the circuit so complicated, and when FET is used, the FET needs the special sate driver which improves the FET's operation.

  • This paper proses a soft-switching current-source inverter with a switched-capacitor module. The system operation was analyzed by a theoretical approach with equivalent circuits and verified by a computer simulation and experiment. The proposed system could be effectively applied for the power converter of photovoltaic power generation interconnected with the power system.

  • A modular upgrade design for packet transport switch nodes is presented where packet loss is dramatically reduced by intra-module and inter-module buffer sharing. This modular design offers significant cost and power reduction in a high-data-rate system where buffers are highly costly and power-greedy.

  • Layered structure of the Korean terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (TDMB) transmission system for multimedia broadcasting service is presented in this paper. We made a switching module which is called the Ensemble Remultiplexer. It is designed to remultiplex the Ensemble Transport Interface (ETI) for T-DMB service. This paper describes the remultiplexing process of the Ensemble Remultiplexer.

  • In this paper, we discuss a study on Advanced TCA(ATCA) based 40 Gbps level Optical transport platform having 120 Gbps(12, 10 Gbps modules) switching capacity as an OTP based large capacity multi service technology. The ATCA-based OTP(Optical Transport Platform) is composed of OTH(Optical Transport Hierarchy) 10 or 40 Gbps client signal interface module, OTH 10 Gbps transport module, high-rate OTH unit switch, system processor, and can be installed in ATCA platform.

  • This paper show serial communication method in order to design how to interface between fault tolerant systems with redundancy. Problem has been in the method that fault tolerant system had switched of serial data with common switching device. This problem degrade reliability in itself and total system which is interfaced with that serial communication system. So Arbitration module of serial communication which is suggested in this paper can improve the reliability using voter algorithm which fault is detected passively.

Development of Airborne High Density High Voltage Power Supply for Traveling Wave Tubes

  • This paper describes the development and testing results of a high density High Voltage Power Supply (HVPS) that drives microwave Traveling Wave Tubes (TWTs) of phased array transmitters for airborne EW systems. The HVPS is designed to consist of a number of modules connected in series. Among them, especially, the high-density pulse transformer module including the resonant circuit is newly designed to make the HVPS much more reliable. In addition, this paper describes the development of high voltage solid-state modulation using fast switching devices (FETs) and also represents the test results of a modulator module.

  • This paper deal with single module design of 13.2kVrms/10kVA solid state transformers exchanging conventional transformer. We can design compact hardware system to reduce size and get higher switching frequency by using SiC devices. As a result by comparing simulation results with experiment result, it is verified.
