충전 시스템과 SBR의 미세 구조가 SBR 복합체의 수팽윤 거동에 미치는 영향 (Influence of reinforcing systems and microstructures of SBR on water swelling behaviors of SBR composites)

  • 카본블랙, 커플링제가 없는 실리카, 그리고 커플링제를 함유한 실리카 등 다른 충전 시스템을 갖는 SBR 가황물의 수팽윤 거동에 대해 연구하였다. 증류수와 3.5% NaCl 용액을 팽윤 매질로 사용하였다. 증류수에서의 수팽윤비가 소금물에서의 그것보다 높았다. 카본블랙으로 보강된 가황물의 수팽윤비가 실리카로 보강된 것보다 낮았다. 실리카로 보강된 SBR 가황물의 경우, 커플링제가 없는 것이 커플링제를 함유한 것보다 더 큰 수팽윤비를 나타내었다. 1,2-유니트 함량이 다른 SBR 가황물의 수팽윤 거동에 대해서도 비교하였다. 수팽윤비는 1,2-유니트 함량이 증가함에 따라 감소하는 경향을 보였다.

A novel method for predicting the swelling potential of clay-bearing rocks

  • The main objective of this study is to present a fast and reliable approach to predict the swelling potential of clay-bearing rocks. Investigations showed that there is a good correlation between the swelling potential of a rock and its desire to absorb water due to its clay content which could be measured using the "Contact Angle" test as one of the most common ways to determine the wettability. In this test, the angle between a water drop and the flat rock surface on which it rests is measured. The present method is very fast and returns repeatable results and requires minimal sample preparation. Only having a saw-cut surface of a sample with any shape is all one needs to perform this test. The logic behind this approach is that the swelling potential of a rock is a function of its mineral content and molecular structure, which are not only distributed in the bulk of the sample but also reflected on its surface. Therefore, to evaluate swelling behavior, it is not necessary to wait for a sample to get wet all the way to its "internal structure" (which, due to the low permeability of clay-bearing rocks, is very slow and time-consuming). Instead, one can have a good sense of swelling potential by studying its surface. Parametric studies on the effect of moisture content, porosity, and surface roughness on the contact angle measurements showed that using a saw-cut oven-dried sample is a convenient way to evaluate the swelling potential by this method.

  • Distension of hydrops is the pathosis that the hydration is retented in abdomen and that is caused by disturbance of hydrometabolism. Most of hydrops belongs to Consolidation. In part of OhRyungJinAek-Byeul of Youngchu"靈樞 五癃津液別", the general explanation of hydrops is briefed. But there was nothing about pathogenesis, pathology, symptoms and the method of treatment. The part SuChang of Youngchu "靈樞 水脹" divided it by Superficial-swelling, Hidden-swelling, Ovarian-hydrops, Stony-uterin-mass and explained it to cure by Category of pathology. So, the books JeByeongWonHuRon"諸病源候論" ChonGeumYoBang"千金要方", WoiDaeBiYo"外臺秘要", TaePyeungSeongHyeBang"太平聖惠方", BoJeBang"普濟方", EuiHakGangMok"醫學綱目", DongEuiBoGam"東醫寶鑑" etc. published later, show the method of treatments and medications with quotation the original text of this part. And it is convinced that more profound research of this part is inevitable to understand the correct meaning of hydrops that explained by many of ancient medical scholars, and to apply it to clinical medicine. There is an explanation on Distension hydrops in the prologue of this part. And t six kinds of disease in this part is simila to edema, so it is called SuChang"水脹", pathology of Edema. Superficial-swellin Hidden-Swelling is reported in the fir chapter, differential diagnosis of Ovarian-hydrops, Stony-uterin-mass is rep in the second chapter, and treatment Superficial swelling. Hidden Swelling reported in the third chapter. Briefly looking over that chapter, Distension of hydrops is recognized as stay of hydration at the abdomen as a result of disturbance of hydrometabolism and it says about symtoms, pathogenesis, pathology, differential diagnosis, treatment of Hydrops Superficial-swelling Hidden-swelling Ovarian-hydrops Stony-uterinmass. And it says about a few things that Superficial-swelling, Hidden-swelling could be differentiated by colors of skin and distension of abdomen, and Ovarian-hydrops, Stony-ulerin-mass could be differentiated that it occurs which sex and whether mensturation occurs or not, and treatment of Superficial-swelling, Hidden-swelling, Ovarian-hydrops.

A model for calculating the irradiation swelling of AgInCd absorber in nuclear control rods

  • The actual swelling of AgInCd absorber might exceed the predicted swelling value after years of service in pressurized water reactors, and the chemical and microstructural changes of AgInCd absorber induced by transmutation reactions are the main reason for the swelling acceleration of AgInCd absorber. In the present study, a model for calculating the irradiation swelling of AgInCd absorber in nuclear control rods is developed according to chemical and microstructural changes of AgInCd absorber. In this model, the chemical compositions of AgInCd absorber as a function of the thermal neutron fluence are firstly calculated, and then the volume of AgInCd absorber after irradiation is obtained on the basis of the crystallographic parameters of phases in the AgInCd absorber, and the irradiation swelling of AgInCd absorber is finally calculated. The crystallographic parameters can be obtained by preparing the simulated AgInCd alloys and fitting the experimental data. The model calculating results of irradiation swelling are in good agreement with the actual swelling data in literature. More importantly, the present model can well explain the EPRI results of the acceleration in the diametral swelling rate above 6-8 × 1020 n/cm2 and the decrease in the diametral swelling rate above about 2 × 1021 n/cm2.

팽창성 쉐일의 시간의존적 변형거동에 영향을 미치는 제 요소 (Factors Influencing Time-dependent Deformation Behaviour of Swelling Shales)

  • This paper describes the results of study on major factors influencing time-dependent deformation behaviour of swelling shales. The study was carried out by analyzing all the swell test results available for shales from southern Ontario. Major factors studied are (1) the presence of ambient water, (2) calcite content and (3) the applied stress. The results of the study on seven shales show that the swelling of shale is associated with the formation of cracks and the absorption of water in these cracks. The magnitude of swelling potential is related linearly to the amount of absorbed water. The presence of calcite inhibits the swelling of shales studied, reducing the swelling to zero at about 30% of calcite content. All the shales studied exhibit the stress-dependent swelling behaviour, though there Is a difference in the degree of dependency.

Assessment of swelling pressure of stabilized Bentonite

  • In this study, a comprehensive laboratory experimental programme was conducted on expansive soil with a high swelling potential to study the influence of different additive materials on swelling pressure and index properties. Lime, sand, multifilament fiber and fibrillated fiber were used for stabilization of expansive soil. Lime, sand and fibers were respectively added to the expansive soil at 0-7%, 0-80%, 0-0.5%. On each mixture that was prepared by the proportions mentioned above, Atterberg limits, compaction, and swelling pressure tests were conducted. From the result of these experiments, the swelling pressure-time relation could be replaced by a rectangular hyperbola established to facilitate the prediction of ultimate percent swelling with a few initial data points. The best type of additive and its optimum ratio for engineering purposes could be estimated rapidly by this approach.

팽진성 쉐일들의 광유조무과 층상구조 (Mineralogy and Fabric of Four Swelling Shales)

  • This paper describes procedures and the results of mineralogical, fabric and pore sixte analyses perforied on four shales to understand time-dependent deforiation behav iour of swell ins shales better. Mineralogical compositions of theme shales are eBtablished froi the results of X-ray diffraction snalysis and chemical analyses. The importance of the fabric in the understanding of swelling behaviour of shales is demonstrated using Scanning Electron Microscope (SRI). The change in pore sixte distribution during the process of swelling is investigated by measuring pore size distribution before and after free swell test. The results Of the Present study imply that the swelling of Shales studied is not attributed to minerals like pyritei anhydrite or swelling clay minerals. The anisotropic swelling behaviour of shales studied ray be explained by fabrics of theme shales and the difference in them. The swelling of theme shales is found to be accoipanied by increase in the volute of pores.

친수성 정제의 겔층두께와 겔팽창 영역의 조직 특성화 (Textural Characterization of Gel Layer Thickness and Swelling Boundary in a Hydrophilic Compact)

  • This study was to investigate the relationship between the gel layer thickness and swelling boundary via strength measurements using texture analysis. The novel texture analysis approach was used to examine the dynamics of swelling behavior in a ternary polymeric matrix tablet. The method permitted the characterization of the changes occurring at the peripheral as well as within interior boundary of the swelling during water ingress. The increase in gel strength for pectin, HPMC, and a ternary mixture with gelatin was found to depend on polymer concentration. Therefore, this method is further applicable to characterize the swelling behavior and provide opportunity to differentiate the gel-layer from that of swelling boundary.

Swelling and Relative Hydraulic Conductivities of transformed Ca-bentonite with various Na-cemicals

  • To investigate the effect of solution pH and particle size of Na-bentonite on swelling characteristics and relative hydraulic conductivity, four kinds of acids and two alkali were selected. The results showed that the swelling was decreased to half of the original Na-bentonite's swelling index. Also the decrease in SI was most distinctive in pH 3.5 of HCl. But changes of swelling index between initial and stabilized were minimal in alkali treatment, compared to the change by acid treatment. No flux was detected under atmospheric pressure although there was drastic decrease in swelling. However, leaching started after application of 1.5 bars of air-pressure equivalent to 15 m of water head.

Inhibitory Effects of Ginsenosides on Glutamate-Induced Swelling of Cultured Astrocytes

  • 흰쥐 대뇌겉질로부터 별아교세포를 배양하여 흥분성아미노산인 L-glutamate에 의하여 유발되는 세포종창(astrocytic swelling)에 대한 ginsenosides의 억제효과를 검토하였다. Glutamate(0.5 mM)를 세포에 가하고 1시간동안 배양하면 swelling을 일으켜, 세포내의 물의 용적([$^3$H]OMG의 uptake량으로 측정)은 대조세포에 비하여 약 2배의 증가를 나타냈다. Glutamate와 함께 ginsenosides Rb$_2$와 Rc를 가하고 배양하면 glutamate에 의한 astrocytic swelling이 용량의존적으로 감소하였다. 세포는 Rb$_2$와 Rc(0.5 mg/ml)에 24시간까지 노출시켜도 MTT reduction이 감소하지 않는 것으로 보아 이 ginsenosides에 의한 swelling의 억제효과는 세포막의 손상에 의한 것이 아님을 알 수 있었다. Rb$_2$와 Rc는 glutamate에 의한 세포내 $Ca^{2+}$농도의 상승을 억제하였다. 따라서 Rb$_2$와 Rc는Ca$^{2+}$의 유입을 억제하므로서 glutamate에 의한 astrocytic swelling을 억제하는 것으로 생각된다.
