  • Objectives : The aim of this paper is to examine the mechanisms of spontaneous sweating and night sweating, their relationship and how the explanations of their mechanisms have changed over the course of time, through examination of past discussions on spontaneous sweating and night sweating. Methods : Contents in classical medical texts that mention the mechanisms of spontaneous sweating and night sweating among search results from databases such as the Siku Quanshu were analyzed, followed by examination of each of their mechanisms, and their relationship with each other. Results & Conclusions : The cause of night sweating before the 『Danxixinfa』 was seen to be caused by yang deficiency in relation to problems of Exterior Qi and the theory of 'Heart governs perspiration', as the focus was on the phenomenon of sweating. However, it seems that yin deficiency came to be seen as playing a more fundamental role in the process of determining the root cause of night sweating. Moreover, Zhu Danxi's emphasis on nurturing yin, the composition of Dangguiliuhuangtang, and the development of the fire-heat pathology since the Jin Yuan period added to this shift in perspective. Night sweating from Shanghan could be seen as a sign of the already damaged Exterior Qi becoming more deficient while the pathogenic qi is in the half-exterior-half-interior zone, or as the pathogenic qi which entered with the Exterior Qi unsettling yin, or as a result of heat that is produced in the struggle between healthy qi and pathogenic qi that happens when Exterior Qi enters. Night sweating from miscellaneous disease could be seen as a sign of a deficient exterior that resulted from excessive entering of the Exterior Qi during yin deficiency, or resulting from relatively excessive Exterior Qi to deficient yin, producing heat that leads to sweating. If yin is not cultivated during the night but rather consumed leading to deficiency of Exterior Qi which also needs to be cultivated during night time, it could result in sweating.

  • Sweating, which is the excretion of oil on the surface of a solid product containing several kinds of pigments in oil and is also solidified with wax, is a unique phenomenon often observed on the surface of cover make-up or lipstick. The cause of sweating is an imbalanced formula. Many studies have been conducted to decrease the symptoms of sweating in the field of cosmetics. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) is a thermo-analytical technique that measures the amount of heat required to increase the temperature of a sample as a function of temperature or time under certain conditions. DSC has been used to determine the thermal properties of oil/wax structures. This study investigates how the thermal characteristics correlate with the sweating symptoms. An oil/wax formulation with an optimal melting point was studied in an attempt to make a stable product by considering the thermal properties that represent minimal structural changes with temperature variation. In addition, the sweating of the oil/wax formulation was observed over a various temperature range. As a result, it was found that sweating was minimized when the structure remained static or little bit changed over a variety of temperatures.

  • 1. Objectives In this study, it is experienced that the process of sweating is important in chronic cough of Taeumin. In this case report, the patient has been simproved throuth reaction of sweating improvement. In "Dongyi Soose Bowon", The process of sweating change is described in detail. "Hamkeylhae" is similar to chronic cough in "Dongyi Soose Bowon", it is cough that is hard to spit. The chronic cough of Taeumin is related to the pathology of Liver and Lung, sweating condition is also related to condition of Lung in Sasang constitutional medicine. So the study for the process of sweating is needed. 2. Methods One patient diagnosed as chronic cough was practiced with Sasang constitutional medicine. And We observed sweating change process during treatment. 3. Results As sweating condition improved, chronic cough also decreased, but not improved, not decreased. 4. Conclusions So treating of Taeumin's chronic cough is closely connected with sweating change process.

  • As an additional high purification method of p-dioxanone monomer for a high molecular weight polymer, the sweating operation of crystalline layer obtained by layered melt crystallization from p-dioxanone-diethylene glycol system was studied. Purity and yield of p-dioxanone crystal depended mainly on the sweating temperature and sweating time. Increasing sweating time and sweating temperature, the purity of p-dioxanone crystal increase, whereas the yield of that decrease, respectively. Through the optimization of sweating operation, p-dioxanone crystal can be upgraded to very high purity over 99.9 % suited to monomer for polymerization.

  • Sweating is a important concept with Sasang Constitutional Medicine After studying about sweating of four constitutions, I can get a conclusion. It is summarized as follows. 1. In Taeyangin(太陽人) and Taeumin(太陰人) sweating can be explained by symptom of Kiekjiki(氣液之氣), and can be explained by symptom of Suekjiki(水液之氣) in Soeumin(少陰人) and Soyangin(少陽人) 2. Sweating of Soeumin(少陰人) is a expression of strength or weakness of Bijang(脾臟) 3. Sweating of Soyangin(少陽人) is a expression of Kangeum(降陰) and Yangyak(陽弱) 4. Sweating of Taeumin(太陰人) is a expression of Paejang(肺臟)'s function

  • In this study, the relationship between wax matrix in lipstick and sweating was investigated by observing the change of size and shape of wax matrix with sweating by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). For observation by SEM, a lipstick sample was frozen in liquid nitrogen, then the oil in the lipstick was extracted out in cold isopropanol($-70^{\circ}C$) for 1-3days. After isopropanol was evaporated, the sample was sputtered with gold, and examined by SEM. When examined the sweated sample by SEM, the change of wax matrix underneath the surface from fine, uniform structure to coarse, nonuniform structure was observed, which was resulted from the caking of surrounding wax matrix. That is, the oil underneath the surface was migrated to the surface of lipstick with sweating, consequently the wax matrix at that region was rearranged into the coarse matrix. In case of flamed lipstick, sweating was delayed and the wax matrix was much coarser than that of unflamed one. Its larger wax matrix at surface region was good for including oil. The effect of molding temperature on sweating was also studied. As the molding temperature was increased, sweating was greatly reduced and the size of wax matrix was increased. It was also found that sweating was influenced with the compatinility of wax and oil. A formula consisting of wax and oil which have good compatibility has a tendency of reduced sweating and increased size of wax matrix. When pigment was added to wax and oil. It was also found that sweating was influenced with the passage of time by observing a thick membrane of wax on surface of lipstick after a month from molding. In case of some lipsticks, the size of wax matrix was altered to bigger or smaller. In conclusion, the structure of wax matrix at the surface region of lipstick was changed with the process of foaming, molding temperature, compatibility of wax and oil, addition of pigment, and the passage of time. In most cases, as the size of wax matrix was increased, sweating was reduced and delayed.

  • Thermoregulatory sweat is principal mean for homeostasis of temperature. Sweat glands have eccrine gland, apocrine gland, and apoeccrine glands. Disorders of sweating are manifested by excess (hyperhidrosis) or deficit (hypohidrosis, anhidrosis) of sweat. Hyperhidrosis can be defined as excessive sweating beyond a level required to maintain normal body temperature. The sweating can be generalized or localized (axilla, palms, soles, palmar-plantar, perineal). Usually hypohidrosis or anhidrosis may be more serious than hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis is usually benign, but interferes with one's daily activities. First step for diagnostic approach for sweating disorders might be dividing them into localized or generalized, and primary or secondary forms. Treatement for hyperhidrosis include topical agents, botulinum toxin A injections, systemic anticholinergics, and sympathectomy.
