일체형 스티어링 휠 튜브의 인발에 관한 연구 (Process Design of Monobloc Tube for Steering Input Shaft in Cold Drawing)

  • MTS(Monobloc Tube Shaft) has been used for the reduction in weight of shaft and increase in supply of power in the auto industry nowadays. Cold drawing process having high productivity and reduction in the cost has been regarded as the effective technology that is able to substitute for swaging process as forming MTS with constant outer diameter or hollow shaft without surface defects. The objective of this study is not only to (md out the optimal process conditions understanding the effect of process parameters on carrying out cold drawing process of SIS(Steering Input Shaft) but also to control the defects resulted from inappropriate process conditions. Therefore, the proper drawing conditions are presented using FE-Analysis and experiment in the paper.

Modal Radiation Efficiency of Swaged Panels

  • Swaging technique is frequently used to stiffen thin panels for reducing the vibration levels of the machine or vehicle structure. Because the internal constraints imposed by swages can distort the mode shapes of panels, they affect the sound radiation characteristics. In this paper, the radiated sound field generated by the idealized and baffled finite swaged panel is studied, in which the curved swage section is modeled as an incomplete cylindrical shell. The modal radiation efficiencies are predicted using the transfer matrix concept and compared with those of flat panels. It is observed that the radiation efficiencies of the swaged vibrational modes can increase slightly for frequencies below the critical frequency, while increase of radiation efficiency depends on the mode shapes and other related structural parameters.

  • This paper describes a computer-aided die design system of progressive die for making CPT grid. An approach to the development of the automatic design system is based on knowledge-based rules. The developed system is designed by considering several factors, such as grid geometry and punch profile. Grid, a key component of electronic gun, is formed through a sequence of many operations, among which the pilot piercing, beading, notching, bending, swaging and slotting etc. Using the developed system, design parameters are determined and output is generated in graphic forms. Therefore the developed system provides part drawing and the assembly drawing of die set.

  • Two categories in the design of thick cylinders are suggested and their computer programs are developed; the one termed processing design to ensure the precise inner radius of the cylinder and the other, termd stress compensation design to reduce peak stresses in the cylinder wall. The processing design seeks suitable interference by the method of linear iteration to determine either the radius of the mandrel R or the inner radius ofthe chlinder R$\sub$1/. On the other hand, the stress compensation design seeks first the suitable m and which satisfies the design criteria .sigma.$\sub$actual/ < .sigma.$\sub$allowable/ and then tries to find the suitable interference for given m and .zeta. The design program developed here may be used either in the office at the planning stage of thick chlinders as machine elements of on the processing line to get precise final dimension of inner radius.

  • In previous researches, it is reported that Ti-10Ta-10Nb is robuster than Ti-6A1-4V which is used as a biomaterial in a experiment of cytotoxicity. Ti-10Ta-10Nb has enough hardness to be required as a biomaterial because the change of its hardness can be controlled more than 100% according to heat treatment condition and manufacturing condition. There are many hardness changing condition including Cast Homogenization, Solution treatment. Forging, Rolling in this research. The changing form and amount of new Ti-10Ta-10Nb to be developed in this researches, are measured as quantitative. Specially, the changing hardness amount of the specimen that is manufactured in single phase temperature, i.e. 80$0^{\circ}C$, are measured in case of high temperature rolling and high temperature cast condition.

머신비젼 기반의 엔진마운트 부품 자동공급시스템 (An Automated Machine-Vision-based Feeding System for Engine Mount Parts)

  • This paper describes a machine-vision-based prototype system for automatically feeding engine-mount parts to a swaging machine which assembles engine mounts. The system developed consists of a robot, a feeding device with two cylinders and two photo sensors, and a machine vision system. The machine vision system recognizes the type of different parts being fed from the feeding device and estimates the angular difference between the inner-hole center of the part and the point predetermined for assembling. The robot then picks up each part and rotated it through the estimated angle such that the parts are well assembled together as specified. An algorithm has been developed to recognize different part types and estimate the angular difference. The test results obtained for a set of real specimens indicate that the algorithm performs well enough to be applied to prototype system.

기계적합금화시킨 TiNi 분말의 열처리조건에 따른 상변화 및 Al/TiNi소결체 내에서의 미세조직 특성 (Phase Changes of Mechanically Alloyed TiNi Powders by Heat-treatment and Microstructural Properties in the Al/TiNi Sintered Materials)

  • Microstructure and phase transformation of mechanically alloyed TiNi powders added to aluminium matrix for enhancing the damping properties were studied. Four compositions between 48.5 and 51.5 at% Ti intermetallic compounds were selected to control the fraction of martensite phase. Mechanically alloyed TiNi powders were heat-treated at vacuum of $10^{-6}$ torr for crystallization. Ball milled AI/TiNi composite powders were swaged at room temperature and rolled at 450 $^{\circ}C$. After mechanical alloying for 10 hours, Ti and Ni elements were alloyed completely and amorphous phase was formed. Amorphous phase was crystallized to martensite (Bl9') and austenite(B2) after heat treating for 1 hour at the temperature of 850 $^{\circ}C$, and TiNi$_3$, intermetallic compound was partially formed. Considerable amount of martensite phase was remained after swaging and rolling.

  • The dynamic characteristics of rotor shafts for electric motors were investigated through the modal tests. The natural frequencies and modal dampings in each manufacturing stage of rotor core assembly were analyzed from the frequency response functions fer all 6 motors of a product model. The deviation of the each individual modal feature was found dependent on the mode shapes as well as the rotor assembly stage. The core stacking itself is known to widen the deviation of modal properties but fellowing processes of rotor bar insertion and swaging are confirmed to reduce the deviation. Finally the equivalent diameter of core part was estimated from the comparison of measured and calculated results to include the stiffness of core part.

Deformation Behaviour of Ti-8Ta-3Nb During Hot Forging

  • Ti-8Ta-3Nb, as a new biomaterial, was prepared by cast and swaging process. Their deformation behavior of Ti-8Ta-3Nb alloy has been characterized on the basis of its flow stress variation obtained from the true strain rate compression testing in the temperature of $700-900^{\circ}C$ and strain rate of $0.001-10\;s^{-1}$. At the strain rates lower than $0.1\;s^{-1}$ and the all temperature ranges which consist of two phase ${\alpha}+{\beta}$ as well as single ${\beta}$ phase fields, the flow curves show a small degree of flow softening behavior. In contrast, the shapes of the flow curves at other strain rates indicate unstable behavior. The shapes of the flow curves were similar in both as-cast and swaged specimen as well as in both ${\alpha}+{\beta}$ phase and ${\beta}$ phase. The flow stress data did not obey the kinetic rate equation over the entire regime of testing but a good fit has been obtained in the intermediate range of temperatures ($750-850^{\circ}C$). In this range, a stress exponent value of about 7.7 in as-cast specimens and about 6.2 in swaged specimens with an apparent activation energy of about 300 kJ/mol and about 206 kJ/mol respectively have been evaluated.
