  • The construction industry in South Korea is experiencing great changes: it is becoming developed on a larger scale, specialized to a high degree and rapidly incorporating with other industries. This development has resulted in higher demand of construction industry. Accordingly, the transparency and an objective method of evaluation in the process of projects in the construction industry are gaining more importance. Clients' and customers' needs also require more specific objective evaluation to find whether their projects are successfully performed or not. This study aims to discuss problems on the current post-evaluation items including the qualitative item analysis such as customer satisfaction. Moreover, this paper suggests the improved ways in which enable the application of the effective evaluation system to the construction industry.

  • As urbanization increases in UAE, the demand for housing and infrastructures also grows. The challenge is to continue to build but in a different way considering more energy-efficient sustainable buildings. Producing a sustainable design is highly dependent upon effective participation among the diverse parties involved. In the construction industry in the UAE, these parties are fragmented due to the multistage nature of construction projects and multidisciplinary participants, particularly during the design stage. The decisions made during this stage have an extensive impact on subsequent stages of a project's life cycle. Having a sustainability expert during the design stage is important and the awareness of sustainability requirements by all design participants is of equal importance. In this research, recent advances in information technology are used to develop an information model that will improve the sustainability of building during the design stage. An information framework for storing design information and sustainability performance criteria is developed, allowing design participants to collaborate in an integrated environment. This research is expected to help designers produce sustainable designs for building projects.

  • With the increasing movement towards sustainable construct on, environmental rating systems (ERSs) came into use in the Middle Eastern (ME) region as similar to many other regions. ERSs were first developed to assess buildings and many ERSs have tended related ERSs. Despite the vast infrastructure development in the ME region and in the United Arab Emirates in particular, there is no understand the regional-specific requirements to attain sustainable construction and infrastructure. Tis research addresses these pags and study the theoretical underpinnings of sustainable infrastructure in the region, to propose a regional-specific, infrastructure-related ERS. This paper examines the underpinning factors of sustainable infrastructure in the UAE through a literature review in order to provide insights to determine criteria and subcriteria for the ERS.

  • This research endeavors to explore the enhancement of workforce economic efficiency through the application of nanotechnology, focusing on its economic implications. The findings of this investigation reveal that in recent years, surging global population growth and escalating demands for products and services have led to excessive resource consumption, resulting in adverse environmental consequences and altering environmental conditions-a phenomenon referred to as the economic growth dilemma. Entrepreneurs and economic stakeholders have begun to recognize the importance of sustainable development and the integration of environmental considerations into the production of goods and services. Within this context, knowledge-based economies have emerged as a driving force for sustainable business practices, particularly in the realm of nanotechnology. The integration of nanotechnology across various industries, including pharmaceuticals, agriculture, environmental management, and the chemical and petroleum sectors, as well as energy distribution, has yielded remarkable results. Consequently, this research aims to investigate the application and integration of nanotechnology in environmentally friendly silver nanoparticle production within select industries. Subsequently, it will examine the far-reaching implications of nanotechnology on economic growth and sustainable development.

  • Sustainable practices of school foodservices are gaining more attentions. The study aimed to investigate dietitians' performance levels of sustainable practices in school foodservice settings in Gyeonggi Provinces. Using a survey method was used, and data were collected from 358 participants (response rate 59.7%) to be analyzed using the SPSS program. The evaluation tool for sustainable practices of school foodservices consisted of four sections and 34 criteria with 100 points. Employment status of the respondents was as follows: nutrition teachers 40.9%, dietitians (permanent) 45.1%, and temporary position dietitians 13.2%. Dietitians' performance for sustainable practices marked 65.67 points out of 100 (performance rate 66%) and were in the following order by section: sustainable foodservice management criteria (69%), support activities (69%), planning and evaluation (68%), and outcome management (52%). Regarding sub-sections, criteria that acquired higher performance rates were labelling of food origin (99%), use of seasonal vegetables and fruits (98%), food waste management by contract dealer (98%), and planning for reducing of food waste and solid waste (91%). Meanwhile, criteria that showed the lowest scores were installing water conservation devices on equipment (19%), operating food donation programs for communities (21%), use of sensor lights for electricity conservation (24%), planning for annual energy conservation (40%), and implementation of education programs for foodservice workers on sustainable activities (42%). Performance scores differed according to school levels and working experience of dietitians, indicating that dietitians at elementary school foodservices or with work experience of 15 to 20 years showed higher performance than those at high schools or with less than 5 years of work experience (P<0.001, P<0.05). Based on the results, action plans for improvement were suggested.

  • This study explores whether consumers' sustainable luxury purchase (SLP), which refers to luxury consumers' conscientious purchase behavior of "buying luxury for its timeless style and durable quality that leads to extended product usage and less waste," leads to luxury consumer pleasure (LCP). Furthermore, the current study examines whether LCP leads to positive post-purchase behavior reflected by sustainable divestment intention (SDI) and repurchase intention (RI). In addition, by building on Coping Theory, we explore whether luxury consumer guilt (LCG) positively moderates the relationship between LCP and SDI. Our empirical findings of the SEM analysis based on 452 valid responses demonstrate the significant relationships between SLP and LCP, between LCP and SDI, and between LCP and RI. This implies the importance of SLP in creating a favorable consumer response, which further leads to consumers' intentions to make a sustainable divestment and to repurchase luxury. Furthermore, the critical moderating role LCG plays in the relationship between LCP and SDI was supported, stressing the importance of guilt as a trigger of consumers' sustainable divestment behavior.

  • The purpose of this paper is output oriented, in order to maximize the output level of sustainable development efficiency of foreign trade in western China with limited input. This paper adopts the relevant input-output indicators of sustainable foreign trade development of 11 provinces and cities in western China from 2016 to 2020, and uses DEA model to measure their technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency. Malmquist index was used to calculate the total factor productivity change index of each province in western China from 2016 to 2020. We found that, on the whole, the average values of technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency of provinces and cities in western China from 2016 to 2020 are greater than 0.8, indicating that the western region has high technical efficiency, relatively high management and institutional level and high existing scale level. Scale efficiency is lower than pure technical efficiency on the whole, indicating that the current sustainable development efficiency of foreign trade in western China is mainly limited by its scale level. The technological progress index is higher than the technological efficiency change index, indicating that the total factor productivity of the sustainable development of foreign trade in western China is mainly driven by technological progress and more influenced by external factors. We think the conclusion of this study can provide important reference information for the sustainable development of foreign trade of provinces and cities in western China.
