Underground infrastructure systems provide essential public services and goods through buried structures including water and sewer, gas and petroleum, power and communication pipelines. The majority of existing underground infrastructure systems was installed in green field areas prior to development of complex urban built environments. Currently, there is a global trend to escalate major demand for underground infrastructure system renewal and new installation while minimizing disruption and maintaining functions of existing superstructures. Therefore, Engineers and utility owners are rigorously seeking technologies that minimize environmental, social, and economic impact during the renewal and installation process. Trenchless technologies have proven to be socially less disruptive, more environmentally friendly, energy conservative and economically viable alternative methods. All of those benefits are adequate to enhance overall sustainability. This paper describes effective sustainable solutions using trenchless technologies. Sustainability is assessed by a comparison between conventional open cut and trenchless technology methods. Sustainability analysis is based on a broad perspective combining the three main aspects of sustainability: economic; environmental; and social. Economic includes construction cost, benefit, and social cost analysis. Environmental includes emission estimation and environmental quality impact study. Social includes various social impacts on an urban area. This paper summarizes sustainable trenchless technology solutions and presents a sustainable construction method selection process in a proposed framework to be used in urban underground infrastructure capital improvement projects.

Evaluating infrastructure's impact on social equity is an emerging area of research in transportation construction engineering. Transportation agencies have been trying to include sustainable development. The three components of sustainable development are environmental protection, social equity, and economic development. Although social equity is one of the essential components of sustainable development, most transportation agencies do not consider this component. The research publications in this area are limited. The principal objective of this study is to synthesize existing studies related to the impact of transportation infrastructures on social equity. This study will also identify social equity indicators, the correlation between social equity and transportation infrastructures and their services, and the impact of transportation infrastructures' on social equity. In addition, this study will identify current issues of social equity and will provide some recommendations. This synthesis study revealed that transportation infrastructures impacted social equity in various ways. Some effects are positive, such as new job creation on the market. Other effects are adverse, such as diminishing socio-economic and environmental degradation. Studies also showed that the current practices evaluated infrastructures' impact on a case-by-case basis. The authors recommend adopting a multi-disciplinary holistic for assessing infrastructure's effects on social equity. The multi-disciplinary fields of study include civil engineers, construction engineers/managers, public policy researchers, environmentalists, and social scientists.

Infrastructure capacities are essential elements and one of the sustainable lines to drive economic growth. Infrastructure development, both physical and social, is vital to sector-wise economic development. However, there is limited evidence of how infrastructure development in certain sectors benefits the economy as a whole. This study explains the relationships between infrastructure and economic growth in selected middle-income Asian countries, highlighting the essential criteria to benefit from both physical and social infrastructure, as well as sectoral (agriculture, industry, and services) economic output. The research uses the data from 1990 to 2020 for empirical estimations. The study used Levin, Lin, & Chu test, ADF- Fischer chi- Square, and PP- Fischer Chi-Square to test unit root and to observe the stationary nature of the panel. Padroni and Kao cointegration is applied to check the cointegration among different panes. A Fully Modified OLS was employed for checking the association between physical and social infrastructure and economic growth. Results show that physical and social infrastructure negatively impact sectoral output in Asia's middle-income countries. Apart from infrastructure the per capita GDP growth, tax to GDP ratio, and population growth shows a simultaneous relation between infrastructure and sectoral economic growth.

Traditionally, road projects are initiated based on an assessment of their economic benefit, after which the environmental, social and governance effects are addressed discretely for the project according to a set of predetermined alternatives. Sustainable road infrastructure planning is vital as issues like diminishing access to road construction supplies, water scarcity, Greenhouse Gas emissions, road-related fatalities and congestion pricing etc., have imposed severe economic, social, and environmental damages to the society. In the process of addressing these sustainability factors in the operational phase of the project, the dynamics of these factors are generally ignored. This paper argues that effective delivery of sustainable roads should consider such dynamics and highlights how different aspects of sustainability have the potential to affect project sustainability. The paper initially presents the different sustainability-assessment tools that have been developed to determine the sustainability performance of road projects and discuss the inability of these tools to model the interrelationships among sustainability-related factors. The paper then argues the need for a new assessment framework that facilitates modelling these dynamics at the macro-level (system level) and helping policymakers for sustainable infrastructure planning through evaluating regulatory policies.
Sustainable development has been praised as important new planning paradigm. The concept is being increasingly used in planning processes to address environmental, social and economic sustainable development. The social sustainability is important as community in modern life. The purpose of this study is to find out the community elements of sustainable housing to make it better life in residential environment. The Methods are content analysis and experts survey. We execute the literature for method to find the importance and indicator of social sustainability. We execute the experts survey to find the adequacy of the classification criteria, the adequacy of the indicators and the adequacy of the classification system. The findings of this study are as following; the social sustainability is important to support the sustainable housing planning. The indicator of the social sustainability is deduced; 'Locality' are deduced 'Native support', 'History and culture' and 'Reflected the local characteristics'. 'Communality' are deduced 'Citizen participation', 'Social integration', 'Community space and facilities' and 'community activities and programs'. 'Organic' are deduced 'Employment', 'Self-sufficiency', 'Safety and convenience', 'Infrastructure and service' and 'Housing condition'.
Lately, the importance of social responsibility of venture companies is becoming highlighted in Korea. This study is to empirically suggest that the practice of social responsibility by venture companies will become the foundation for formation of the organizational trust and for the sustainable growth of the organization. The certification on social responsibility for venture companies has been conducted for past five year and based on the research on difference of organizational validity on companies that are certified and non-certified by its practice of social responsibility, we've found organizational trust difference in two groups; the companies that already formed organizational trust did not have new mediation effect due to organizational commitment but the non-certified companies that did not have organization trust created new medication effect from organizational commitment. This can be understood that the organizational commitment effect through social responsibility is already formed for companies that have created organizational trust through social responsibility certification. The organizational infrastructure is needed for sustainable growth and development of an organization; therefore, the differentiated organizational trust for social responsibility certified organization will become the infrastructure for growth of the certified organizations.

Congestion is a growing concern of many global cities and the demands on Infrastructure services within a locale coupled by the rising expectations from the growing population places stress on these cities. This entails the ability to build a sustainable community that requires an understanding and recognition of Population growth, changing demographics and the ever changing urban development on both a macro and micro level. Infrastructure is an integral part of Australian economy, particularly the 'Infrastructure Assets Management' which highlights the importance towards the development of sustainable communities for Melbourne's future. Melbourne 2030 is a comprehensive representation of government's response to a wide-ranging population growth within Melbourne metropolitan and surrounding areas. Urban plan and specific Infrastructure Assets Planning needs not only to provide sufficient Infrastructure to a community, but it must also be efficient and innovative so that it produces an optimised management system. A system that incorporates engineering techniques that will be sustainable for decades to come by maintaining an acceptable level of services to its intended community in an effective manner, which also strengthens service delivery. The fundamental challenges for optimization of Infrastructure with the Melbourne urban plan is, the ability to manage and sustain maintenance of Infrastructure to provide the acceptable level of service required by the community in a most effective manner which also strengthens service delivery to contribute towards Melbourne 2030. This paper particularly investigates some of the fundamental issues within the Melbourne urban plan such as Infrastructure Asset Management, AusLink and the Australian Road Management Act 2004, which the Governments at all levels must deal with to provide an economically viable solution to the changing Infrastructure so it may suits the needs and services the strategies of a metropolis.
This study was performed to identify the roles of residents for the environmentally sound and sustainable development, taco-polis(kologisches Bauen), eco-village and Symbiotic Housing. These buildings will achieve energy efficiency through design strategies such as passive solar heating system, natural cooling and day lighting. Their infrastructure will feature parking on the periphery, extensive pedestrian paths, outdoor ground lights that preserve stellar visibility, and environmentally sensitive technologies such as low writer use fixtures. And they will restore biodiversity while protecting the wildlife, wetlands, forests, soil, air and water. Their houses wile be designed to support home-based occupations, offering high-speed Internet access and other options to promote a localized, sustainable economy. To support and encourage the evolution of sustainable settlements, it is necessary to prepare constructing the physical facilities and the social functions relating with residents. The roles of residents are important to provide a high Quality lifestyle and to integrate a supportive social environment with a low-impact way of life. This study concluded the four main roles of residents for the sustainable of Eco-polis and Ecovillage. 1. Residents assist transition towards a sustainable society as eco-conscious consumers in the planning stage. 2. Residents live in a ecological way for the sustainable ecovillage. 3. Residents exchange information and education for increasing the community glue as a communication network. 4.
