This study purpose is extract on the architectural principles and architectural planning direction for existing school facility renovation. therefore, This study is occur to renovation from change factor and change direction of the school facility under prerequisite, school facility change direction is with a pedagogy side and it classified with the social side which it bites and it presented. School facility renovation extracted a plan principles with the base which will reach. Was extracted renovation plan Principles to analyze the interrelationship of necessary condition of school facility, It follows in renovation principle presented the renovation plan direction 61 branch.

The purpose of this study is to renovate a closed school to a artist studio complex applying sustainable principles and methods. Through the case study, the principle and methods of sustainable renovation is investigated and following strategies are extracted as a frame of renovation. First, atrium space with thermal mass using existing wall is proposed as a public gathering space. Second, light shelves for effective lighting and shading device for protecting and allowing sun light is proposed to renovate existing classroom. Third, double skin system is proposed with reflection pool to activate heating and ventilation for passive solar as well as passive cooling. Finally, simulation programs such as energy-10 and Form-Z is used to confirm the validity of the sustainable design.

Majority of elementary school in Korea are built by standard plan in 1980s. Being deteriorated and uniform, they have lots of problems to meet the new education curriculum and generate environmental problems in terms of its performances. This research intends to review the conditions of classroom units related with the environmental issues and provide the directions of sustainable renovation to meet the updated curriculum focusing on daylighting and ventilation systems for the classroom built by standard plan in 1980s.

This study explores application of upcycling design methods in structural transformation of second-hand denim clothing, aiming to achieve sustainable design objectives. By drawing inspiration from Liu Qing's research methods in the field of circular utilization of denim clothing, this study collected and analyzed cases of structural transformation of used denim clothing from 2020 to 2023. It summarized structural transformation design methods for used denim clothing. Through the development of design works, this study aims to find out the best upgrading and renovation design strategy by applying the method of structural renovation design. This study aims to support the development of a sustainable fashion industry and promote recycling and upcycling of discarded clothing fabrics, thereby reducing resource waste and environmental impact.

The remodeling of long-tern public rental housing (LPRH) have been acknowledged followed by the introduction of th Act of the Life Quality Improvement of the Residents in Long-tern Public Housing. Likewise, the feasible direction of LPRH remodeling should be discussed in order to improve the quality of life of the dwellers and housing facilities. Therefore a purpose of this study is to suggest the remodeling types for increasing their quality of life with regard to sustainability of remodeling. To do so this study employs various cases of public housing remodeling from the UK, France and USA and performed quantitative research that was subject to the residents in 9 LPRH in Seoul and Gyeong-gi. The findings of the analysis demonstrate that comprehensive and sustainable remodeling considering both physical and social environment factors are needed, and that the residents have needs of improvement of deteriorated facilities and negative perception of the public on LPRH. With regard to this, seven types of the LPRH remodeling types are drawn on the combination between physical and social environment factors. Thus it is expected that the types will ultimately be able to increase of the quality of the life of the residents and guarantee sustainable remodeling.

In this paper, a new approach of interface stress analysis in steel beam strengthened by porous FGM (Functionally Graded Materials) is presented to calculate the shear stress in the hybrid steel beam and loaded by a uniformly distributed load. The results show that there exists a high concentration of shear stress at the ends of the imperfect FGM, which might result in premature failure of the strengthening scheme at these locations. A parametric study has been conducted to investigate the sensitivity of interface behavior to parameters such as the rigidity of FGM plate (degree of homogeneity), the porosity index of FGM and the thickness of adhesive all were found to have a marked effect on the magnitude of maximum shear stress in the FGM member. we can conclude that the new approach is general in nature and may be applicable to all kinds of materials.

This study started from my concern over maintenance and renewal of existing buildings and other seriously damaged Modern Architecture under the urban development. Above all, we must face up to reality of an increasing need of renovation of old buildings that are in its physical, social, and economical decrepitude. Currently, 25% of total buildings come under renovation period within 20 years, which means that we do not have enough time to decide the destiny of old buildings. In the city, there has been endless controversy over conversation and development. Recently the Cultural property Registration System made it possible a positive usage of non-designated cultural property with historical value. This very useful system renewed our perception on Modern Architecture as cultural property and also triggered peoples' interest in recreating new value beyond economical one. So we really need a balanced view that can bring into both growth of contemporary city and renewal use of Modern Architecture. Here, in this study I tried to solve that problem with Conversion Design and define what a realistic design way for them is. To get more reasonable result, I chose a factor analysis for 20 conversion projects in Japanese Modern Architecture. Conversion Design is a proper way to restore the identity of old buildings and the most effective way to sustainable use of Modern Architecture.

Healthcare facilities undergo substantial renovation and remodeling to accommodate changing technologies and regulatory requirements, thereby generating significant quantities of construction-related wastes, and subjecting building occupants to noise, dust, and other health impacting disruptions associated with construction. By designing flexible, adaptive, generic spaces, buildings can better respond to changes imposed by architectural composition of interpersonal and community space of hospital ward with minimum needs renovation and remodeling. This study focuses on the design principles of enhancing flexibility in architectural composition of interpersonal and community space of hospital ward. The purpose of this study is to provide fundamental data for designing interpersonal and community space of hospital ward through ecological flexible design principles with case on interpersonal and community space of hospital ward.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the types of the usable space and its areal distribution for the sake of analogizing the planning criteria to be established when the elementary school is renovated. This study has been progressed with reference to the analysis of the drawings, situation analysis through the visiting, and materials of each elementary schools. As a result, the types of the usable space and its areal distribution of each school are different. So, it is an urgent problem what criteria are established on the types of the usable space and its areal distribution when the elementary school is renovated.

New buildings are to be needed for an aging society. But, there may be a solution on the multi-purpose & mixed-use existing facilities. Therefore this study is focused on verification of mixed-use school facilities's potentialities. If possible, I want to suggest some directions of renewal primary school planning. The results of this study are as follows : 1) It is important to make a policy for improving the educational environment, 2) Future buildings must be planned by the principles based on the lifelong learning, 3) Mixed-use building blocks need to be laid out by the concept of accessibility, 4) We can use existing primary school's areas as a elderly welfare facilities without any renovation and increasing areas.
