Comparison on Shopping Orientations and Purchase Criteria according to the Occupational Status among U. S. Female Consumers (성인여성의 취업유형에 따른 쇼핑성향 및 구매기준 비교연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare shopping orientations and purchase criteria according to the occupational status; professionals, non-professionals, and homemakers among female consumers. Subjects were selected from mailing lists through a random sampling technique in the United States. Collection of the research data was made using an adaptation of the Total Design Method for implementing mail surveys. ANOVA, Regression, and Duncan Test were used to conduct the data analysis on 254 out of 1000 questionnaires. The three job status showed significant differences in 5 shopping orientations(sex role oriented, fashion conscious, credit oriented, catalog oriented, and value oriented). Even after controlling the effect of income and education level, significant differences were noticed in 4 shopping orientations, the exception being value conscious. Brand, price, and country of origin among the job status groups also showed significant differences in results for purchase criteria.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the remodeling of apartments according to the area type and size in order to provide some information for the future plans for more consumer-friendly dwelling units. To achieve this goal, quantitative data analyses was employed. The sample was a total of 100 apartments analysed on apartments remodeling. The data were analyzed by SPSS WIN program package in terms of frequency, percentage, and x 2-test on the actual remodeling behaviors according to the area type and size of apartments. For the future research case studies recommended small, medium, and large sizes of apartments respectively through interviews, actual surveys, and questionnaires on remodeling behavior, interior design, and interior atmosphere according to the area type and size of apartments.

  • The main objective of this study is to find factors and typical characteristics on outbreak of musculoskeletal disorders in small sized companies which are located at eastern area in Kangwon-Do. Musculoskeletal disorders are becoming a serious problem in various industrial fields. Many researches have been focused on the analysis on outbreak of musculoskeletal disorders in order to reduce and prevent them. As a similar endeavor, this paper provides factor analysis on outbreak of musculoskeletal disorders. Questionnaire surveys regarding musculoskeletal disorders were conducted for the total number of 250 field workers. For the purpose of this study, seven independent variables(gender, age, career, housework, accident, trouble, and pain) are taken from questionnaires. The provided analysis result will be helpful as a starting point for root cause analysis and reduction of musculoskeletal disorders and also for establishment of safe work environments.

Consumers' Expectation and Consumers' Attitude on Korea-U.S.A. FTA (한미FTA에 대한 소비자전망과 소비자태도)

  • This study examined the expectations and attitudes of urban Korean consumers with respect to the Korea-USA Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which was drafted on April, 2007. The data were collected through online surveys in which 527 adults answered structured questionnaires. The results showed that the number of consumers who favored the Korea-U.S.A. FTA was almost twice the number of those who objected to it. Most of the consumers surveyed expected not only positive effects but also negative ones from the FTA, and the more consumers expected positive effects from the FTA, the more they tended to have positive attitudes toward the trade agreement. The effects of consumers' individual characteristics on their expectations and attitudes were also analyzed in this experiment.

Serious Dental Disease Factors of Dental Clinic Patients (치과병원 내원환자의 중대 구강병 영향요인)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to review the factors related to serious dental diseases in dental clinic patients to provide basic data on health and oral health improvement. Methods : This study included 257 patients who visited dental clinics located in Gyeonggi-do. For the survey method, patients filled out questionnaires, and their dental examination charts were reviewed. The subjects of this study were selected using convenience sampling. Surveys were done with a self-entry questionnaire. Results : Serious dental diseases were more likely to be found in men than in women, in married subjects than in single subjects, in obese subjects than in normal-weight subjects, in subjects with xerostomia and in subjects who did not receive regular oral examinations and scaling. Conclusions : In order to promote oral health, individual efforts by dental clinic patients should be made along with the implementation of oral health improvement programs and policies.

Empirical Analysis of Sexuality among Girls' High School Students by Course (계열에 따른 여자고등학생의 성에 관한 실태분석)

  • This study examines the various types of consciousness about sexuality exhibited by girls' high school students. The analysis was carried out utilizing two subject groups with the first being academic course students and the second being vocational course students. A 51 question questionnaire was prepared based on a literature review and previous research. The questionnaire was developed based on the results of two preliminary surveys, a reliability test, and a correction. A total of 721 questionnaires were distributed to students of 3 vocational and 3 academic courses. The analysis of the results was carried out using by means of SPSS 10.0. The study generated conclusive findings about each groups' viewpoint toward sex, the actual condition of their relationship with members of the opposite sex, the passages of knowledge about sex, the content of current sexuality education at school and the ideal type of sexuality education. This study shows that the current standardized content of sexuality education is ineffective. Sexuality education at schools in South Korea has reached a point, where research for more effective sexuality education is required.

Effects of the Position of Demographic Questions on Survey Responses

  • In many surveys, one of the most important goals is to obtain reliable and valid responses from respondents. To achieve the goal, a researcher have to make efforts to protect respondents' confidentiality and to reduce the effects of social desirability on answers. The key question of this paper is whether the position of demographic questions have an effect on responses. Two types of questionnaires are considered: one puts the demographic questions at the beginning and the other does at the last. On both types, I asked only a small number of demographic questions which are considered as essential on analytic purposes. The results show no evidence of position effects when the risk to threat confidentiality was minimized.

  • Since early 1960s, when the telephone survey was used in the research area for he first tie, there has been existed various methods to gather the information by survey. The existing survey methodology called PAPI(Paper-And-Pen Interveiw), due to the appearance of Personal Computer, might well be developed progressively. Mid-1980s, Internet was advanced remarkably in terms of technology. from early 1990s, in addition it served as a stepping-stone for progressive collecting method. Internet Survey is now called WWW Survey and expected that it will substitute for most surveys from now on. We explain the role and the characteristics for Internet Survey as one of he various data collecting methods. Furthermore, we draw the futures about questionnaires, data collecting and statistical analysis with it.

Customer Loyalty to Health Services According to Hospital Type (병원 규모별 의료소비자의 고객충성도 형성요인)

  • Objectives : This research used an exploratory approach to identify factors affecting business strategies due to changes in the healthcare market and customer loyalty factors. Methods : The research model was formulated using antecedents divided into diagnosis quality, employee attitudes, and servicescape. Moreover, differences in the structured model were analyzed according to hospital size. The data were gathered through surveys on clients, who has received care at participating hospitals. From the 200 that were distributed, 150 questionnaires were analyzed, to facilitate analysis of the research model. Results : The effects of diagnosis quality, employee attitudes, and servicescape, on customer loyalty were mediated by trust. We also found the differences between small and large hospitals. Conclusions : Customer loyalty in small hospitals was affected by servicescape, whereas that in large hospitals was affected by diagnosis quality and employee attitudes. The research results could be used to develop strategies to improve customer loyalty.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the relation between the dwelling location and the satisfaction level, and suggest a proposal to increase the quality of the livability space. A first of this study began from public surveys conducted to gather the information of satisfaction level from 4 multi-family housing sites in Gwang-ju. The plan was to the characteristics of the LS(livability space). The poll and the observation investigation was run concurrently. The cross analysis and the frequency analysis were used to analyze the data from the questionnaires. The validity of fixed quantitative index was got through the correlation analysis between the result of former analysis and index of livability space. The result said that the dwelling location have relations with the satisfaction level. In the conclusion, this will be a suggestion of the methods to enhance equal-quality of the livability space.
