  • Since the facility management for various facilities in urban area are conducted by general managers who have poor knowledge for surveying technology, it is not easy to trace the exact location of the facility in a short time with the GIS map only by themselves in the field. In order to improve it, VRS-RTK or SBAS DGPS system integrated with UMPC and PDA which is uploaded GIS field software are being used recently however lot of difficulties are still existed with the GPS positioning in urban area due to the lack of visible satellites, no reception of correction data and multipath error by the interruption of the high buildings and houses etc. Therefore, in this study, we applied with Network DGPS system which allows better reception of satellite signal and correction data even in dense housing areas with the use of GNSS receiver and CDMA mobile phone. Based on the analysis of field data, it was confirmed that standard deviations of the Network DGPS positioning are 0.3 to 0.84m with a very high positioning rate even in dense housing areas. Therefore, it was concluded that the Network DGPS system could be used widely to fast and accurate positioning for various facilities management works in dense housing areas in the future.

  • Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) were generated by ERS-l/2 and JERS-1 SAR interferometry in Daejon area, Korea. The quality of the DEM's was evaluated by the Ground Control Points (GCPs) in city area where GCPs were determined by GPS surveys, while in the mountain area with no GCPs, a 1:25,000 digital map was used. In order to minimize errors due to the inaccurate satellite orbit information and the phase unwrapping procedure, a Differential InSAR (DInSAR) was implemented in addition to the traditional InSAR analysis for DEM generation. In addition, DEMs from GTOPO30, SRTM-3, and 1:25,000 digital map were used for assessment the resolution of the DEM generated from DInSAR. 5-6 meters of elevation errors were found in the flat area regardless of the usage and the resolution of DEM, as a result of InSAR analyzing with a pair of ERS tandem and 6 pairs of JERS-1 interferograms. In the mountain area, however, DInSAR with DEMs from SRTM-3 and the digital map was found to be very effective to reduce errors due to phase unwrapping procedure. Also errors due to low signal-to-noise ratio of radar images and atmospheric effect were attenuated in the DEMs generated from the stacking of 6 pairs of JERS-1. SAR interferometry with multiple pairs of SAR interferogram with low resolution DEM can be effectively used to enhance the resolution of DEM in terms of data processing time and cost.

  • As the necessity of land information has increased according to development of computer and Information-communication, people have been interested in the satellite measurement system that can update Cadastral and Geographical information rapidly and exactly. Most Cadastral base points which had limitation of measurement technology in the 1910s were less accurate and were destroyed through the Korean War. They also many problems in the process of reinstallation. So, they require the quick and correct method of measurement in re-equipment of a base point and a parcel based survey and so on. This study intends to present the GPS survey direction by understanding and analysing all sorts of problems rising in case of applying the GPS to cadastral area in order to increase the efficiency of the GPS measurement, and also develop the GPS kinematic survey program to apply to the efficiency of a kinematic survey. As a result of research, I could confirm the accuracy of Cadastral base points in Kwangju area by using Korea GPS array and a base point, and could get the result similar to existent cadastral survey result with the coordinate conversion program of Cadastral technology research institute. We however have to pay our attention to the transformation of the plane coordinates because the difference between tens of cm and the existing result can outbreak according to the Gauss conformal double projection method. And, I could figure out the practicality of the developed GPS kinematic survey program, compared with common use program. I expect that it can be applied to the digital cadastral survey and the cadastral map renewal as well.

  • Road information is one of the most significant geospatial data for applications such as transportation, city planning, map generation, LBS (Location-Based Service), and GIS (Geographic Information System) database updates. Robust technologies to acquire and update accurate road information can contribute significantly to geospatial industries. In this study, we analyze the limitations of ACO (Ant Colony Optimization) road extraction, which is a recently introduced object-based road extraction method using high-resolution satellite images. Object-based ACO road extraction can efficiently extract road areas using both spectral and morphological information. This method, however, is highly dependent on object descriptor information and requires manual designations of descriptors. Moreover, reasonable iteration closing point needs to be specified. In this study, we perform improved ACO road extraction on VHR (Very High Resolution) optical satellite image by proposing an optimization stopping criteria and descriptors that complements the limitations of the existing method. The proposed method revealed 52.51% completeness, 6.12% correctness, and a 51.53% quality improvement over the existing algorithm.

  • The King George Island, where the King Sejong Station is located, represents one of the gateways to the Antarctica from the point of its geographical aspect. It also serves as an advanced post, and plays an important role in the extending for Korea's Antarctic research activities. The existence of maps is not only a basic element for the constructing geographic informations supporting these activities, but also an implied way of announcing the sovereignty over the KingSejong Station in global world. However, the precise surveying for the geographic information has not been carried out, and thus topographical maps as well as geographic information assuring enough accuracy are still missed in this area. This fact had forced Korea to rely on using maps produced by foreign countries. Therefore, this study aims to generate digital topographical maps of 1: 5,000 scale for the constructing geographic information using lightweight aerial photogrammetry system first. And further, it will contribute to offer practical base data for the future research related to the Antarctic environment through the analysis of glacier retreat and change using this new digital map comparing with existing one.

  • The purpose of this study is to research into a method of selecting the subject parcel with a change in the category of land given surveying the land alteration state focusing on the present state of road in the government-owned and public land by using the fuzzy membership function and GIS spatial analysis. It selected the old town center of Incheon Jung-gu, and the new downtown & the forest land of Gyeyang-gu as the research subject region, and carried out GIS spatial analysis on a serial cadastral map, urban planning road layer of Korea Land Information System, practical width of road layer of Road Name Address Management System & cadastral data base, and then calculated the suitable index for the subject parcel with a change in the category of land by using the fuzzy membership function with having the critical value as the area ratio of each parcel on a serial cadastral map that was incorporated into road layer or practical width of road layer. It finally selected the parcel, which is different in land category from the real land usage, as the final subject parcel for altering land category, by using the screen of visualizing the suitable index and the aerial ortho photograph. As a result of the final selection, the fuzzy GIS spatial analysis method, which was suggested in this study, is judged to be efficient in the selection period and the methodology compared to the existing manual method. It could be confirmed to be more suitable method for downtown than forest land and for the new downtown than the old town center.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop unmanned equipment that can automatically move to the desired point and measure water quality at the correct depth. For this purpose, we constructed a water sampling lift and water sampling container, an unmanned vessel equipped with a VRS-GPS, an acoustic echo sounder, and a water quality sensor. Also, we developed an automatic navigation algorithm and program, an automatic water sampling program, and a water quality map generation program. As a result of the experiment in the detention pond, the unmanned vessel sailed along the planned route with an accuracy of about 93% within the error range of 3m. In addition, the water quality sensor installed in the lift was able to acquire the water quality of the target area in real time and transmit it to the server via wireless Internet, and it was possible to monitor the water quality of each site in real time. Through field experiments, the water sampling lift was able to control the desired length with an accuracy of about 94%. The stretch length accuracy experiment of the water sampling lift was impossible to measure directly in the water, so it was replaced land-based experiment. We also found some unstable problems due to the weight of the water sampling lift and the weight of the air compressor to operate the water container. Except these two problems, we accomplished purpose of this study. An automated water quality measurement method using an unmanned vessel can be used to measure the quality of water in a difficult to access area and to secure the safety of the worker.

  • Cadastral spatial information closely related to ownership of people is potentially very valuable information. As 3D cadastre has been actively discussed to reflect realistic living territory and legal relationship in recent years, it is highly expected to be created added value before long using that information. However, in aspect of visualization that performs an important function for decision making by facilitating intuitive thinking about spatial information, systematic solution has not been suggested to visualize the cadastral spatial information on a map with existing 3D spatial information. For that reason, in this paper, visualization method was proposed to integrate the cadastral spatial information with the existing information effectively. Requirements for 3D cadastral spatial information system were drawn based on literature review, and then specific visualization method was established by constructing user scenarios. Research results of this paper are highly expected to be applied to the integration work with the existing 3D information on a spatial information open platform.

  • This study applied each Neural Networks theory and Fuzzy Set theory to improve accuracy in remotely sensed images. Remotely sensed data have been used to map land cover. The accuracy is dependent on a range of factors related to the data set and methods used. Thus, the accuracy of maps derived from conventional supervised image classification techniques is a function of factors related to the training, allocation, and testing stages of the classification. Conventional image classification techniques assume that all the pixels within the image are pure. That is, that they represent an area of homogeneous cover of a single land-cover class. But, this assumption is often untenable with pixels of mixed land-cover composition abundant in an image. Mixed pixels are a major problem in land-cover mapping applications. For each pixel, the strengths of class membership derived in the classification may be related to its land-cover composition. Fuzzy classification techniques are the concept of a pixel having a degree of membership to all classes is fundamental to fuzzy-sets-based techniques. A major problem with the fuzzy-sets and probabilistic methods is that they are slow and computational demanding. For analyzing large data sets and rapid processing, alterative techniques are required. One particularly attractive approach is the use of artificial neural networks. These are non-parametric techniques which have been shown to generally be capable of classifying data as or more accurately than conventional classifiers. An artificial neural networks, once trained, may classify data extremely rapidly as the classification process may be reduced to the solution of a large number of extremely simple calculations which may be performed in parallel.

  • Even though existing methods for orthophoto production using expensive aircraft are effective in large areas, they are drawbacks when dealing with renew quickly according to geographic features. But, as UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) technology has advanced rapidly, and also by loading sensors such as GPS and IMU, they are evaluates that these UAV and sensor technology can substitute expensive traditional aerial photogrammetry. Orthophoto production by using UAV has advantages that spatial information of small area can be updated quickly. But in the case of existing researches, images of same altitude are used in orthophoto generation, they are drawbacks about repetition of data and renewal of data. In this study, we targeted about small slope area, and by using low-end UAV, generated orthophoto and DEM(Digital Elevation Model) through different altitudinal images. The RMSE of the check points is σh = 0.023m on a horizontal plane and σv = 0.049m on a vertical plane. This maximum value and mean RMSE are in accordance with the working rule agreement for the aerial photogrammetry of the National Geographic Information Institute(NGII) on a 1/500 scale digital map. This paper suggests that generate orthophoto of high accuracy using a different altitude images. Reducing the repetition of data through images of different altitude and provide the informations about the spatial information quickly.
