  • Recently, the single plane coordinate system which has one origin is required to create and manage continuous geographic framework data of entire Korean peninsula. For this, UTM-K (Univercial Transverse Mercator-K) was established in 2005. In this paper, the level of distortion was analyzed with respect to the central meridian and scale factor of UTM-K. The latitude and longitude values of the center point of 1/25000 scale digital maps were used for calculating the scale factor which was created by projection and the scale factor was used for index that presents the degree of distortion. As a result, accumulated distortion of scale factor by UTM-K map projection showed about $23.744{\times}10^{-2}$. On the other hand, the minimum distortion which was about $5.1435{\times}10^{-2}$ occurred when central meridian is $127^{\circ}\;42'$ and scale factor of central meridian was 0.99994 respectively.

  • Recently, global companies are developing the automobile technologies, converged with state-of-the-art IT technologies for the commercialization of autonomous vehicles. These autonomous vehicles are required the accurate lane information to enhance its reliability by controlling the vehicles safely. Hence, the study planned to examine possibilities of applying UAV photogrammetry of high-resolution images, obtained from the low altitudes. The high-resolution DSM and the ortho-images were generated from the GSD 7cm-level digital images that were obtained and based on the generated data, when the positions information of the roads including the lanes were extracted. In fact, the RMSE of verifying the extracted data was shown to be about 15cm. Through the results from the study, it could be concluded that the low alititude UAV photogrammetry can be applied for generating and updating a high-accuracy map of road areas.

  • Street-view images, which are omnidirectional scenes centered on a specific location on the road, can provide various obstacle information for the pedestrians. Pedestrian network data for the navigation services should reflect the up-to-date obstacle information to ensure the mobility of pedestrians, including people with disabilities. In this study, the object detection model was trained for the bollard as a major obstacle in Seoul using street-view images and a deep learning algorithm. Also, a process for updating information about the presence and number of bollards as obstacle properties for the crosswalk node through spatial matching between the detected bollards and the pedestrian nodes was proposed. The missing crosswalk information can also be updated concurrently by the proposed process. The proposed approach is appropriate for crowdsourcing data as the model trained using the street-view images can be applied to photos taken with a smartphone while walking. Through additional training with various obstacles captured in the street-view images, it is expected to enable efficient information update about obstacles on the road.

  • The spread of infectious diseases in the event of livestock is getting faster and the route of spread gets more varied. It is important for the responsible agency to detect early and establish a prevention and surveillance system. If the spread cannot be contained effectively, great damage and loss will be inevitable in terms of social, environment and economic aspects as well as the welfare of the farmers. At present in Korea, a web-based Infectious Livestock Diseases Statistics System (AIMS: Animal Infectious Disease Data Management System) has been already implemented for this purpose and the service is available to the general public. But this system does not provide geospatial information and does not provide support for decision making and does not provide multi-dimensional information. In this study, an open source-based SOLAP (Spatial On-Line Analytical Processing) technology is applied to enable many diverse forms of data analysis from many aspects to support decision making. The SOLAP system was designed to integrate geospatial information and the analysis of information has been largely divided into map-based analysis and table-based analysis.

  • Digital map should have the up-to-dateness as well as the accuracy to perform a role as the national spatial data. As digital mapping process require aerial photograph, surveying, and field working, it consumes a lot of time and cost. So there is a limit to maintain the up-to-dateness. If we updates the digital map frequently by using the as-built drawings, we can prevent the waste of national budget by reuse of existing drawings and make accuracy updates from existing survey results. In spite of this advantages, due to insufficiency of CAD drawing standard, inconsistency of file types of as-built drawings and digital maps, and topology relations between input features and original features, so the frequent updates using the as-built drawings is on the difficult situation to perform. In this research, first, CAD features extracted from as-built drawings land the new/update whether original features exist or not and generate topology from spatial relation of features. Second, suggest the efficient partial-update-plan performing integrity test. As a result, guarantee the accuracy and the up-to-dateness of digital map.

  • The modification of digital maps because of creation, extinction, and change of topology can be expressed by change of information. But according to complication of society, topology of digital maps and relation with another objects is more complicated. We carry out partial update using as-built drawings to reflect in digital maps efficiently with maintaining accuracy and update. This supplement a weak point of partial update without field surveying. But unlike creation and extinction of file with information or of entire database, when each object is changed, added problem will come like change of raw data and of updating date. So it is necessary that history data about creation, change and extinction of spatial data and attribute data have to be chosen and managed. In this study, we analyze operations of updating system of digital map using as-built drawings, and suggest the history database system.

  • As recently, high-resolution satellite images of 1m spatial resolution are opened to the public and able to be used commercially, the studies that make ortho-images using them and apply to digital mapping and database of geo-spatial information system are having been progressed actively. Therefore, the purposes of this study are to establish the auto-extraction methods and to develope algorithms for automatically extracting buildings out of man-made structures, after making the IKONOS ortho-image. As the result of this study, we can extract buildings automatically at 72% out of the whole buildings. And we have analyzed the error trend by means of the comparison with ortho-image, digital map and drawing result, then we could know that obtain the good result for extraction of the building through the methods and algorithms of this study.

  • The cadastral administration is centered around cadastral maps. It is increasing that demand of the public for effective administration and higher quality of service through the development of application program of cadastral maps maintenance. Geo-Spatial Information System which is based on the graphic database of Yuseong-ku, Daejon City and the attribute database about cadastral information has been developed for effective maintenance and use in the part of map editing, public land price management and multi-parcel based work. In this pi-lot study, pointing out difficulties of database implementation and many experiences in the development of application program will be used effectively for further expansion of the automation of the cadastral administration.

  • The need of transformation parameters from local geodetic datums to a geocentric coordinate system is becoming more common, with the increasing application of satellite positioning techniques to LIS/GIS survey with cadastral management. In this paper, the national transformation parameters between the Korean geodetic coordinates which is based on the Bessel 1841 ellipsoid and the WGS84 ellipsoid are determined by the least square methods with weighted parameter constraints. Three-dimensional geocentric coordinates are based on GPS observation at 31 stations in the geodetic network, the datum parameters are computed within a standard deviation of less than 1 meter. In South Korea, the national transformation parameters with Bessel geoid-heights are useful for GPS baseline processing and for middle-scale map/database transformation.

  • The national topographic basedata should meet a variety of user requirements. To generate, maintain and handle the national topographic basedata in economic and effective way, the nationally supported research works on data model, structure and feature classification system should be intensively undertaken by government agency, research institute and university. This paper presents the technical definitions of conceptual and logical model for proposed data model representing digital map data. The key aspects of the proposed data model are flexibility for accommodating user requirements as well as step-by-step approach for modification as necessary m recent future. Conclusively, the proposed data model is a transitional data model between simple graphical model and object oriented data model.
