This study is simulation of high elevated liquid line of a modular heat pump system to observe longitudinal subcooling variation. In a high elevated tube, subcooled refrigerant(R410A) through a condenser changes its states by heat transfer with surrounding air and by pressure drop from elevation. In this study, the liquid line was simulated through correlations of heat transfer and pressure drop for the variation from single-phase into two-phase flow. Pressure drop, heat transfer rate and vapor quality were calculated as key parameters. Two-phase turning heights and variations of the key parameters were confirmed from the simulation. As a result, high elevation of liquid line has great influence on upward flow, which requires additional equipment to compensate the variation.
Photon mapping is an efficient global illumination technique for realistic image synthesis that has been developed in computer graphics. In this paper, an adaptive photon mapping in the use of automatic differentiation is proposed. Since the automatic differentiation is used when photons emit from the light sources through the scene, we can check the variation of surrounding shape. Therefore, we can decrease the number of photons and generate an image in relatively low computational cost.
Cds is possible to add excess donors and to compensate partially using other group metals as acceptors. The impurities can ble incorporated either during crysta growth or by diffusion into a bulkcrystal. The addition of rimpurities leads also to the production of vacancies in a manner depending on the atmosphere surrounding the crystal during growth, during the diffusion process or using bulk. Cds of the mentioned above affects spectral sensitivity, speed of response, the variation on photocurrent, electron life time, and decay of photoconductivity with temperature and with intensity of illumination. In the work to be deseribed, these properties have been studied between liquid nitrogen and room temperature. In addition, the electron trap distribution has been correlated with speed of response, variation of photocurrent with temperature in various atmosphere. Four major trapping levels have been observed, and their identification with impurity and vacancy levels is discussed. And also the effects of lattice imperfections on the photoconductive properties CdS were investigated in detail.

The low slump mortar grouting is widely used in reinforcement of structural foundation and ground improvement in soft ground. It also has merit that construction is possible in insufficient space. In this study, the main purpose is to evaluate effects for contiguous structures that can be happened along with soft ground improvement by the low slump mortar grouting. To estimate these effects, numerical analysis using finite difference method was applied. It was performed to analyze settlement, upheaval and horizontal displacement of surrounding ground and to measure horizontal stress variation by the first and the second grouting in the pile foundation.
We examined the bacteriochlorophyill/bacteriopheophytin ratios in several species of purple bacteria containing only LHI. The pigment ratios depended greatly on species. Further, Rhodospirillum rubrum showed wide variation when grown under different light intensity, and Rhodobium marinum showed significant variation from culture to culture even under the same light conditions. The protein ratios of a/RC and $\beta$/RC estimated by SDS-PAGE of chromatophores of Rsp. rubrum and Rbi. marinum exhibited the ratio of $\beta$/$\alpha$ > 1. These findings gave us the novel idea that there are two types of LHl; one is a C-shaped open antenna composed by $\alpha$$\beta$ units surrounding a RC, and another is a small closed ring antenna composed by $\alpha$$\beta$ units located peripherally in a variable ratio to the core complex like LH2.
The stress distribution generated in the surrounding bone was calculated and compared for various geometry of the dental implants by means of the finite element methods. The models were designed to represent the screw type endosseous implants(varing the size, shape, direction of the screw thread and the angle of the body) with supporting bone and the cylinder type endosseous implants(varing the lower portion-Round type, tapered type) with supporting bone. Static mean bite forces were applied 100N vertically and 25N horizontally on the center of the implant and three dimensional finite analysis was undertaken using software ANSYS 5.1 Version. The result demonstrated that different implant shape leads to significant variations in stress distribution in the bone. In the case of variation of the screw size, direction and shape the implant model with normally directional and triangular screw implied lower stress than with upper directional or lower directional and quadrangular screw but among models a different screw size, within a variation of 0.2mm there was no meaningful difference in maximum stress. In the case of variation of angle of body the straight implied lower stress than the tapered. As a result of analysis of cylinder type, the implants with larger radius of curvature of the round form and larger diameter of the tapered form implied lower stress.

The ground shear force at the expected failure surface and resistance force due to reinforced anchor can act as important factors according to a failure type from the stability viewpoint at a slope. Furthermore, the anchor's axial force may vary at an anchor-reinforced slope due to ground weathering, settlement, and corrosion in the incompletely anti-corrosion treated steel wire strand at a ground where the bearing plate is installed. However, in case that the resistance force of the anchor is locally lost due to the variation of the anchor's axial force, the resistance force may not play the role so that the external force tends to be transferred to the surrounding anchors, causing an increase in the tensile force in the surrounding anchors. Accordingly, a stability problem at the entire slope may occur, which requires much attention. Thus, this study proposed a method to monitor a variation trend of the tensile force of anchors installed at a slope and infer the external stability at the entire slope considering the monitoring result.

A buffer in a geological disposal system minimizes groundwater inflow from the surrounding rock and protects the disposed high-level waste (HLW) against any mechanical impact. As decay heat of a spent fuel causes temperature variation in the buffer that affects the mechanical performance of the system, an accurate estimation of the temperature variation is substantial. The temperature variation is affected by thermal and material properties of the system such as thermal conductivity, density and specific heat capacity of the buffer, and thus these factors should be properly included in the design of the system. In particular, as the thermal properties are variable depending on the density and water content of the buffer, consideration of the effects should be included in the analysis. Hence, in this study, a numerical model based on finite element method (FEM) which is able to consider the change of density and water content of the buffer was established. In addition, using the numerical model, a parametric study was conducted to investigate the effect of each thermal property on the temperature variation of the buffer.

In assessing the seismic safety of nuclear power plants, it is essential to analyze the structures using the observed ground motion. In particular, spatial variation in which the characteristics of the ground motion record differ may occur if the location is different within the site and even if the same earthquake is experienced. This study analyzed the spatial variation characteristics of the ground motion observed at the structure and site using the earthquake records measured at the Hamaoka nuclear power plant. Even if they were located on the same floor within the same unit, there was a difference in response depending on the location. In addition, amplification was observed in Unit 5 compared to other units, which was due to the rock layer having a slower shear wave velocity than the surrounding bedrock. Significant differences were also found in the records of the structure's foundation and the free-field surface. Based on these results, the necessity of considering spatial variation in the observed records was suggested.
Although infrared focal plane array (IRFPA) detectors have been commonly used, non-uniformity correction (NUC) remains an important problem in the infrared imaging realm. Non-uniformity severely degrades image quality and affects radiometric accuracy in infrared imaging applications. Residual non-uniformity (RNU) significantly affects the detection range of infrared surveillance and reconnaissance systems. More effort should be exerted to improve IRFPA uniformity. A novel NUC method that considers the surrounding temperature variation compensation is proposed based on the binary nonlinear non-uniformity theory model. The implementing procedure is described in detail. This approach simultaneously corrects response nonlinearity and compensates for the influence of surrounding temperature shift. Both qualitative evaluation and quantitative test comparison are performed among several correction technologies. The experimental result shows that the residual non-uniformity, which is corrected by the proposed method, is steady at approximately 0.02 percentage points within the target temperature range of 283 K to 373 K. Real-time imaging shows that the proposed method improves image quality better than traditional techniques.
