  • Genetically modified domestic animals have many potential applications ranging from basic research to production agriculture. One of the goals in transgenic animal production schemes is to reliably predict the expression pattern of the foreign gene. Establishing a method to screen genetically modified embryos for transgene expression before transfer to surrogates may improve the likelihood of producing offspring with the desired expressing pattern. • DaaS model that surrogates their data has a problem of privacy leakage by service provider. In this paper, we analyze inference attack that can occur on encrypted data that consist of multiple column through index, and we suggest b-anonymity to protect data against inference attack. We use R+-tree technique to minimize false-positive that can happen when we use an index for efficiency of data processing.

  • Relevance judgments play a very important role in evaluation of information systems since the degree of success of the information retrieval depends on the relevance judgments. This article reviews the theoretical background of the concept of 'relevance' associated with information retrieval evaluation and tries to identify whether there is any factor that affects relevance judgments. By reviewing previous researches done in the information retrieval evaluation field, four variables have been identified as impacting factors, such as document surrogates presented to judges, the order of presentation, measuring devices of relevance judgments and judges.

  • This study was conducted in order to investigate bulk organic matter characteristics and behavior of geosmin and 2-methylisoborneol (2-MIB) during riverbank filtration, which are general surrogates of taste and odor in drinking water. Column studies were used to simulate bank filtration systems. Most of the aliphatic organic matter was removed effectively after soil passage, and it is believed to be polysaccharides according to LC-OCD and F-EEM analysises. Removal efficiencies of geosmin and 2-MIB within the filtration column reached above 95%. It was found that the removal of total dissolved organic matter has a correlation with that of geosmin and 2-MIB in the near of filtration surface (about 50cm).

  • Due to the nature of cavitation numerical analyses, computational optimization of a pump with respect to the cavitation properties is extremely demanding. In this paper it is shown how a combination of Transient Blade Row (TBR) method and some simplifications can be used for making the optimization process more efficient and thus possible on current generation of hardware. The aim of the paper is not the theory of hydraulic design. Instead, the practical aspects of numerical optimization are shown. This is done on an example of a radial pump and a combination of ANSYS CFX, ANSYS software tools and custom scripts is used. First, a comparison of TBR and fully-transient simulation is made. Based on the results, the TBR method is chosen and a parametric model assembled. Design of Experiment (DOE) table is computed and the results are used for sensitivity analysis. As the last step, the final design is created and computed as fully-transient. In conclusion, the results are discussed.

  • As device dimensions shrink, it is increasingly important to develop fabrication methods that can create sub-15 nm features of regular or arbitrary geometry in a rapid, parallel, and efficient process. This talk will discuss approaches based on self-assembling hybrid polymers containing Si. The thin films of those materials systems can generate well-ordered periodic arrays of dots or lines. For achieving, long-range ordering, it is helpful to use lithographically-defined templates, which are in general much larger than the length-scale of self-assembled nanostructures. For example, the self-assembly of polymer nanostructures can easily be templated using an array of nanoscale topographical elements that act as guiding templates or surrogates for one of two microdomains. The solvent-vapor-induced tunability of pattern dimension and morphology will be discussed as well. Those material systems can excellently serve for high-precision self-assembly that can provide good resolution, reliability, and controllability and be considered as an option for a future nanomanufacturing technology.

  • Dr. Ranganathan's "Principles for Helpful Sequence" among the set of normative principles play an exclusive role in the arrangement of subject isolates. Each subject in the universe of subjects is regulated by a guiding principle of its own which analogously determines the sequence of Arrays in ordering the subject surrogates or isolates. For example, the "Principle of Later-in-Evolution" is applied for sequencing isolates of Animal and Plant Species; this concept can be applied to one of the tools of KOS viz. Taxonomies. The application of Principles for Helpful Sequence is summarily presented and in the process the paper highlights the inherent elements of knowledge organization in each one of these principles in a manner that might map the future course of research in this area with the potentiality to bring about a relation between principles for helpful sequence and KOS.

  • Surrogate model based shape optimization methodology to enhance performance of a centrifugal pump has been implemented in this work. Design variables, such as blade number and blade angles defining the pump impeller blade shape were selected and a three-level full factorial design approach was used for efficiency enhancement. A three-dimensional simulation using Reynolds-averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) equations for the performance analysis was carried out after designing the geometries of the impellers at the design points. Standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model was used for steady incompressible flow simulations. The optimized impeller incurred lower losses by shifting the trailing edge towards the impeller pressure side. It is observed that the surrogates are problem dependent and most accurate surrogate does not deliver the best design always.

  • Objectives: The aim of this study is to review occupational hygiene activities, including work environment measurement as required by the industrial safety and health laws of Korea, and suggest improvements required to establish an effective exposure surveillance system. Methods: The controversial limitations of exposure surveillance examining the work-association of several types of cancers in semiconductor workers were reviewed. Results: The bulk of the exposure surveillance system was found to focus purely on work environment measurements without providing other important exposure surrogates, such as job title, operation, exposure duration, etc. The current work environment measurement system is limited in terms of the efficient assessment of the exposure status of workers due to a lack of exposure information. Conclusion: The introduction of a national standard classification of occupations and job titles into the exposure and health effect surveillance system should be discussed in order to retrospectively assess exposure characteristics.

  • Many countries have imposed regulations relating to concerns that hide contamination will affect the cleanliness of abattoirs. However, South Korea has not indicated any clear criteria. The purpose of this study is to use surrogate bacteria to measure the contamination in abattoirs caused by contaminated cattle hides. The swab contact method and plate count method are used. Surrogate bacteria are found in most internal environments after the final process. These surrogates remained on the carcass even after the final washing process. This paper is the first study in South Korea that use surrogate bacteria to analyze contamination levels in abattoirs.
