For strengthening deteriorated concrete structures, externally bonded FRP sheets or plates using epoxy resins are widely used. For the external FRP composites to be effective in improving the performance of the structure, bond between FRP composites and concrete is required. In general, the most frequently observed failure mode in FRP strengthened concrete structures is debonding failure at the interfacial section between FRP and concrete. Therefore, it is very important to find out the interfacial behavior properties. This paper presents experimental results of the relationship of concrete and FRP sheet for some conditions including concrete compressive strength, concrete surface preparation to observe the bond behavior between concrete and FRP sheet and various anchorage types to increase the bond capacity of FRP sheet.
Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry(ESPI) using the Model 95 Ar. laser, a video system and an image processor was applied to the in-plane displacement measurements. Unlike traditional strain gauges or Moire method, ESPI method requires no special surface preparation or attachments and can be measured in-plane displacement with no special surface preparation or attachments and can be measured in-plane displacement with no contact and real time. In this experiment specimen was loaded in parallel with a loadcell. The specimen was the cold rolled steel sheet of 2mm thickness, which was attached strain gauges. The study provides an example of how ESPI have been used to measure strain displacement in this specimen. The results measured by ESPI compare with the data which was measured by strain gauge method in tensile testing.
The performance of as plasma display panels (PDP) is influenced strongly by the surface glow discharge characteristics on the MgO thin films. This paper deals with the optimum preparation conditions of MgO Protecting layer by RF unbalanced magnetron sputtering(UBMS) in surface discharge type AC PDP. The samples prepared with the do bias voltage of -10V showed lower discharge voltage, lower erosion rate as a consequence of ion bombardment, higher optic transparency and higher crack resistance in annealing process than those samples prepared by conventional magnetron sputtering or E-beam eraporation.
This paper describes a method for the preparation of porous polymethylmethacrylate showing optical reflectivity from the porous silicon template. A porous polymethylmethacrylate showing optical reflectivity was prepared by replicating porous silicon template which was obtained by applying a computer-generated periodic square current density and resulted in a mirror with high reflectivity in a specific narrow spectral region. A porous polymethylmethacrylate showing an excellent reflectivity was successfully obtained by dissolving the Porous silicon template from the porous polymethylmethacrylate composite film. A porous polymethylmethacrylate exhibited a sharp reflection resonance in the reflectivity spectrum. Surface image of the porous polymethylmethacrylate indicated that the surface of the porous polymethylmethacrylate film had a porous structure. These porous polymethylmethacrylate films in aqueous solutions were stable for several days without any degradation.
Electroless plating process as a solution deposition method is a viable means of preparing conductive metal films on non-conducting substrates through chemical reactions. In the present study, the preparation and properties of electroless Ni-plating on flexible silicone rubber are described. The process has been performed using a conventional Ni(P) chemical bath. Additives and complexing agents such as ammonium chloride and glycine were added and the reaction pH was controlled by NaOH aqueous solution. Ni deposition rate and crystallinity have been found to vary with pH and temperature of the plating bath. It was shown that Ni-films having the high crystallinity, enhanced adhesion and optimum electric conductivity were formed uniformly on silicone rubber substrates under pH 7 at $70^{\circ}C$. The conductive Ni-plated silicone rubber showed a high electromagnetic interference shielding effect in the 400 MHz-1 GHz range.

Four different diisocyanates (IPDI; isophorone diisocyanate, HDI; hexamethylene diisocyanate, HMDI; dicyclohexylmethane-4,4'-diisocyanate, and XDI; m-xylylene diisocyanate) were used to prepare polyurethane gel-coats, and the weatherabilities, physical properties, and surface characteristics of the gel-coats were investigated with respect to the chemical structure of the diisocyanates. The weathering test results indicated that all of the diisocyanates used in this study were suitable for use in the preparation of the polyurethane gel-coat. However, the set-to-touch times and physical properties of the polyurethane gel-coat indicated that the cycloaliphatic diisocyanate (IPDI and HMDI) were ideal for the preparation of polyurethane gel-coats.
Sample preparation including dehydration and drying of samples is the most intricate part of scanning electron microscopy. Most current sample preparation protocols use critical-point drying with liquid carbon dioxide. Very few studies have reported samples that were dried using chemical reagents. In this study, we used hexamethyldisilazane, a chemical drying reagent, to prepare plant samples. As glandular trichomes are among the most fragile and sensitive surface structures found on plants, we used Millingtonia hortensis leaf samples as our study materials because they contain abundant glandular trichomes. The results obtained using this new method are identical to those produced via critical-point drying.
1. The author have had a case of class V and class Ⅲ combined carious lesion extended on to root surface of upper right lateral incisor. 2. The patient was 40 years old female. 3. After routine root canal treatment of the tooth, the gingival flap was made by vertical incision on gingival tissue between distal surface of upper right lateral incisor and mesial surface of upper right canine. 4. Cavity preparation and amalgam filling on the carious lesion were performed and the flap was sutured.
Matrix/Surface-assisted laser desorption/ionization (M/SALDI) mass spectrometry of polypropylene glycol and polystyrene, directly deposited on graphite plate, is demonstrated. Graphite plate is effective both as an en-ergy transfer medium and robu st sampling support for LDI of polymers. Mass spectra ofpolymers can be easily obtained due to homogeneous distribution on graphite surface and their ion signals are long-lived by large ef-fective desorption volume enough to investigate M/SALDI process.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of some resistance form designs on the bond strength of resin-retained prosthesis. Six sub-groups are designed in natural teeth group and resin teeth group . The framework designs in natural teeth group: 1) no groove preparation 2) groove at the center of distal surface 3) groove at the distobuccal line angle 4) 45 degree lateral load with no groove 5) 45 degree lateral load with center groove 6) splint two teeth with no groove. The framework designs in resin teeth group: 1) no groove preparation 2) groove at the center of distal surface 3) groove at the distobuccal line angle 4) metal covered the 1/2 of distal surface 5) metal covered the 1/2 of mesial surface 6) metal extended over the 114 of buccal surface. Specimens were treated electrolytic etching by Oxy-Etch and cemented with Panavia EX. Failure load was measured by Instron. Another 30 specimens were carried out fatigue tests by MTS 810 fatigue testing machine for 5000 cycles at different load level. The following results were obtained from this study. 1. The failure load was significantly increased by resistance forms. 2. The failure load was not increased by increase of total surface area bonded with teeth. The distal surface area played an important role in failure load. 3. In 45 degree lateral load group, the failure load was decreased significantly than that of in vertical load group. 4. Bond failure modes between static test and fatigue test exhibited no differences.
