RSM을 이용한 CVVT용 전동기 코깅토크 저감 설계 (Cogging Torque Reduction Design for CVVT Using Response Surface Methodology)

  • This paper deals with the design process for an outer-rotor-type surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) used in continuous variable valve timing (CVVT) systems in automobiles with internal combustion engines. When the same size, outer-rotor-type SPMSMs generate larger torque and more stable than inner-rotor-type SPMSMs. For the initial design, space harmonic analysis (SHA) is used. In order to minimize the cogging torque, an optimization was conducted using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). At the end of the paper, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is performed to verify the performance of the optimum model.

  • This paper presents the self-commissioning for surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor. The proposed strategy executes three tests with a standard inverter drive system. To do this, synchronous d-q axes currents are appropriately controlled for each test. From the three tests, armature resistance, armature inductance, equivalent iron loss resistance, and emf coefficient are identified automatically. The validity of the proposed strategy is confirmed by experimental results.

  • High-speed permanent magnet machines are likely to be a key technology for electric drives and motion control systems for many applications, since they are conductive to high efficiency, high power density, small size and low weight. In high-speed machines, the permanent magnets are often contained within a retaining sleeve. However, the sleeve and the magnets are exposed to high order flux harmonics, which cause parasitic eddy current losses. Rotor losses of high-speed machines are of great importance especially in high-speed applications, because losses heat the rotor, which is often very compact construction and thereby difficult to cool. This causes a danger of demagnetization of the NdFeB permanent magnets. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the prediction of the rotor losses. This paper is concerned with the rotor losses in permanent magnet high-speed machines that are caused by permeance variation due to stator slotting. First, the flux harmonics are determined by double Fourier analysis of the normal flux density data over the rotor surface. And then, the rectilinear model was used to calculate rotor losses in permanent magnet machines. Finally, Poynting vector have been used to investigate the rotor eddy current losses of high-speed Permanent magnet machine.

  • This paper presents concurrent design methods of surface permanent magnet synchronous machines for saliency-tracking self-sensing position estimation. Magnetic saliency for the self-sensing is created by stator pole saturation due to the rotor zigzag leakage flux. The power conversion properties such as saliency ratio, torque ripple, and efficiency vary according to motor design. The property change due to design modification is analysed by using finite element analysis, and with the appropriate design modification, proper saliency is created while preserving their power conversion capabilities.

  • On account of small size and light weight, a high-speed machine is regarded as a key technology for many future applications of drive systems. In high-speed applications, permanent magnet (PM) synchronous motors have a number of merits such as high efficiency and high power density. Accordingly, they are suitable for driving the air-blower of a fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) where space and energy savings are critical. Particularly, a surface-mounted PM motor of them is mainly used as a high-speed machine. However, the motor has a fatal flaw owing to a retaining can to maintain the mechanical integrity of a rotor assembly. The can results in the increase of magnetic air-gap length in the surface-mounted PM motor. Thus, in this paper, an interior PM motor is designed in order to drive the air-blower of FCEV instead of the surface-mounted PM motor, and the experimental results of two models are compared to verify the capability of the interior PM motor for a high-speed machine.

  • In this paper, electromagnetic forces acting on the rotor surface of a BLDC motor for hard disk drive are calculated by the finite element field analysis. The frequency characteristics of torque ripple, local force and unbalanced magnetic force as a source of mechanical vibration area analyzed. Ring-type permanent magnets for the brushless DC motor are apt to have different magnetization levels at each pole because of the unbalanced air gap between the magnet surface and the magnetizer fixture during the multi-poles magnetizing process. This paper discusses the effect of the unsymmetric magnetization distribution in the permanent magnet on the brushless DC motor performances. As a result, the unbalanced magnetic force acting on the rotor surface and the torque ripple are examined for the motor with an unsymmetric magnetization distribution, and compared with those of an ideally symmetric motor.

Low Parameter Sensitivity Deadbeat Direct Torque Control for Surface Mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

  • In order to decrease the parameter sensitivity of deadbeat direct torque control (DB-DTC), an improved deadbeat direct torque control method for surface mounted permanent-magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) drives is proposed. First, the track errors of the stator flux and torque that are caused by model parameter mismatch are analyzed. Then a sliding mode observer is designed, which is able to predict the d-q axis currents of the next control period for one-step delay compensation, and to simultaneously estimate the model parameter disturbance. The estimated disturbance of this observer is used to estimate the stator resistance offline. Then the estimated resistance is required to update the designed sliding-mode observer, which can be used to estimate the inductance and permanent-magnetic flux linkage online. In addition, the flux and torque estimation of the next control period, which is unaffected by the model parameter disturbance, is achieved by using predictive d-q axis currents and estimated parameters. Hence, a low parameter sensitivity DB-DTC method is developed. Simulation and experimental results show the validity of the proposed direct control method.

  • To achieve the high performance speed control of synchronous permanent magnet motor, the influence of iron loss can not be negleced as the increase of driving frequency with high speed operation. This paper proposes a maximum efficiency control algorithm for permanent magnet synchonous motors by controlling the d-axis component of the armature current at any speed and torque. The objective of the optimum efficiency controller is to seek a combination of d-q axis current components which provide minimum input power (minimum losses) at a certain operating point by adding a small amout of perturbation to the d-axis current reference.

  • 본 논문은 표면부착형 영구자석 동기전동기(Surfacemounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor)의 영구자석 offset의 변화와 노치(notch)의 적용에 따른 코깅토크 저감 특성을 분석하고, 중심합성계획법(Central Composite Design)을 이용한 최적 모델 설계에 대한 연구이다. 영구자석 offset만 적용한 모델의 경우 코깅토크의 피크-피크값은 95%로 크게 저감되었지만 정격전류 인가시 평균토크의 감소율이 12.3%로 출력 손실이 크기 때문에 최적 설계를 통해 추가적으로 노치를 적용하고 영구자석 Offset을 조절함으로써 코깅토크 저감율을 96.5%로 개선시킬 수 있었고, 평균토크의 감소율은 7.7%로 영구자석 offset만 적용한 모델보다 평균토크의 감소량이 작아진 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • This paper deals with the characteristic analysis & optimum design of Permanent Magnet Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Motor(PMASynRM) for Premium Efficiency Performance. The focus of this paper is characteristic analysis of d and q-axis inductances and torque according to magnetizing quantity of interior permanent magnet for PMASynRM. The d and q-axis current component ratios, load angles of a PMASynRM are investigated quantitatively on the basis of the proposed analysis method and the experimental test. Comparisons are given with output characteristic curves of normal SynRM and those according to the load in PMASynRM, respectively. And optimum design of PMASynRM is performed by Response Surface Methodology(RSM).
