Modeling of deposition and erosion of CRUD on fuel surfaces under sub-cooled nucleate boiling in PWR

  • Simulating the Corrosion-Related Unidentified Deposit (CRUD) on the surface of fuel assemblies is necessary to predict the axial offset anomaly and the localized corrosion induced by the CRUD during the operation of nuclear power plants. A new CRUD model was developed to predict the formation of the CRUD deposits, considering the deposition and erosion mechanisms. The heat transfer and capillary flow within the CRUD were also considered to evaluate the boiling amount within the CRUD layer. This model predicted a CRUD deposit thickness of 44 ㎛ during a one-cycle operation of the Seabrook nuclear power plant. The CRUD deposition tended to accelerate and decelerate during the simulation, by being related to boiling mechanism on the deposits surface. Additionally, during a three-cycle operation corresponding to the refueling period, the CRUD deposition was saturated at a thickness of 80 ㎛, which was in good agreement with the suggested thickness for CRUD buildupin pressurized water reactors. Surface boiling on the thin CRUD deposits enhanced the acceleration of the deposition, even when the wick boiling properties were not favorable for CRUD deposition. To ensure the certainty of the simulation results, sensitivity analyses were conducted for the porosity, chimney density, and the constants employed in the proposed model of the CRUD.

  • In order to invstigate the influence of die design variables on the quality of the sheared surface in cutting of sandwich sheet metals, the cut-off operation is carried out, which is the typical shearing process in sheet metal forming technology. For experiments we made the cut-off die which can be easily adjusted for die design variables such as blankholding force, pad force and clearance. The sandwich sheet metals considered are clad304(STS304-Al1050-STS304) and anti-vibration sheet metal. The shearing process is visualized by the computer vision system installed in front of the cut-off die and the sheared surface is measured and quantitatively compared with the help of the optical microscope after cut-off operation. From test results it is shown that the shearing mechanisms are different according the material of which sandwitch sheet metal is composed. The influence of die design variable is explored and we found optimal conditions for both sandwich sheet metals. It is expected that this investigation can be utilized to get the better sheared surface.

  • in order to improve the quality of the sheared surface in cutting of sandwich sheet metals the cut-off operation is mainly investigated which is the typical shearing process in sheet metal forming technology. 플랭크 운동 시 척추세움근과 허리네모근 키네시오 테이핑 적용 및 지지면 조건이 복부 근 활성도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of erector spinae and quadratus lumborum kinesio taping and support surface conditions on abdominal muscle activity during plank exercise)

  • Background: This study investigated the effect of erector spinae and quadratus lumbar kinesio taping and support surface conditions on abdominal muscle activity during plank exercise. Design: Within-Group design. Methods: A total of twenty-three healthy men and women participated in this study. Abdominal muscle (both external obliques and internal oblique muscle) contraction was analyzed through EMG measurement with the presence or absence of kinesio taping applied to the erector spinae muscle and quadratus lumborum muscle during plank exercise and the difference between the support surfaces (stable surface and unstable surface) as variables. Abdominal EMG was attached to the right external oblique, left external oblique, right internal oblique, and left internal oblique. Results: The results showed that Abdominal left and right external obliques and internal obliques showed significant increases in activity when kinesio taping was applied to the erector spinae and quadratus lumborum muscles and unstable ground (p<0.05). Conclusion: In this study, we confirmed that the activity of the abdominal muscles was significantly increased during the plank operation in the state where the kinesio tape was attached. In addition, it was confirmed that the activity of the abdominal muscles was significantly increased during the plank operation on the unstable surface. These results suggest that in the state of kinesio tape attached and instability, plank motion has a positive effect on abdominal muscle activity.

Factors Influencing Edge Dendritic Plating of Steel Sheet in the Electro-Galvanizing Line

  • Recently, the demand for Zn-Ni electrogalvanized steel sheets for home appliances and automobiles is increasing. Products should have a thick plating (30 to 40 g/m2) on both side with a thin thickness (≤ 0.8 mm) and the highest surface quality. By a high current density operation, current is concentrated in the edge part of the steel sheet, resulting in large surface dent defects due to dendritic plating. This can lead to a low productivity due to low line speed operation. To solve this problem, this study aimed to identify factors influencing dendritic plating. A cylindrical electroplating device was manufactured. Effects of cut edge shape and thickness of steel plate, current density, temperature, flow rate, electrolyte concentration, and pH on dendrite generation of Zn-Ni electroplating were examined. To investigate effect of edge shape of the steel sheet, the steel sheet was manufactured using three processing methods: shearing, polishing after shearing, and laser. Relative effects thickness and cut edge processing methods of the steel plate, current density, temperature, flow rate, electrolyte concentration, and pH of plating solution on dendrite plating were investigated. To prevent dendrite plating, an edge mask was manufactured and its application effect was investigated.

자율운항선박 육상원격제어 시뮬레이터 시스템 운용개념 및 시스템 요구기능 분석 (Review of Operation Concept and System Requirements for Shore Remote Control Simulator System for MASS)

  • 자율운항선박(MASS : Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships)은, 고도의 자율도를 가지고, 계획된 경로를 따라 자율 운항하지만, 필요시 육상원격제어센터(SRCC : Shore Remote Control Center)에서 선박의 운항에 직접 개입할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 자율운항선박의 운항을 육상에서 모니터링하고 유사시 원격제어하는 역할을 담당할 육상원격제어사(SRCO : Shore Remote Control Officer)의 교육훈련에 필요한 시뮬레이터 시스템의 운용개념과 이를 가능하게 하기 위한 요구기능에 대해 검토하였다. 육상원격제어 시뮬레이터 시스템은, 다수의 자율운항선박의 운항상황을 모니터링하는 Monitoring Station, 유사시 특정 선박의 운항에 직접 원격개입하는 Control Station의 기능을 모의하도록 하였고, 시뮬레이션 종합통제실, 자율운항선박 운항상황 모의 시뮬레이터, 그리고 주변의 유인선 운항을 모의하기 위한 통항선 시뮬레이터 등으로 구성하였다. 기능적으로는, 육상에서 선박을 직접 제어하기 위하여 원격으로 개입하는 ESRC(Emergency Situation for Remote Control) 상황을 정의하여 이러한 상황을 모의할 수 있도록 하였다.

항공기 지상 이동 선입 선처리 스케줄링 (First-Come First-Served Airport Surface Movement Scheduling)

  • 공항 내에서의 효율적인 지상 교통 관리를 위하여 선입-선처리 (FCFS; first-come first-served) 알고리즘을 적용한 항공기 지상 이동 스케줄러를 개발하였다. 본 스케줄러는 이전에 개발한 공역 내 교통 흐름 관리 스케줄러를 기반으로 하며, 지상 이동에 있어 추가적으로 요구되는 제약 조건인 링크의 방향성과 교차로 처리 등을 추가하였다. 추가된 각각의 제약 조건을 만족하는지 검증하기 위해 단순한 시나리오를 제작하여 시뮬레이션을 수행하였으며, 시뮬레이션 결과가 주어진 제약 조건을 만족하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 제주 공항의 실제 항공기 출 도착 데이터인 FOIS (flight operation information system) 데이터를 기반으로 시나리오를 제작하여 시뮬레이션을 진행하였다. 개발한 스케줄러의 실효용성을 판단하기 위해, 실제 평균 지연시간과 스케줄러를 통해 산출한 평균 지연 시간을 비교하였다.

파인블랭킹 공정을 이용한 자동차용 부품의 가공에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Forming of Parts for Automobile using Fine Blanking Process)

  • The fine blanking is a process of pressworking which makes possible to produce thick sheet metal parts of finished sheared surface and close dimensional accuracy over whole material thickness in single blanki ng operation. Fine blanked parts in general are characterized by their cleanly sheared surface over the whole sock thickness and accurate size for the specific functions. The fine blanking technology is urgently needed to remove secondary operations which are necessary in conventional blanking operation and cost reduction. In this study, the effect of material texture and vee-ring on parts for automobile is investigated by experimental observation and analysis.

지하댐에 의한 안정적 적정개발가능량 평가 (Assessmnnt of Optinal Amount of Water Resources by Groundwater Dam)

  • Effective use of water resources has become a social problem because the deficit of water comes from population growth and Industrial development. Therefore, the conjunctive operation of surface water and groundwater will become an alternative. Groundwater has many advantages for the evaporation and effect of rainfall compared with surface water. Although the available amount of groundwater is small, groundwater dam can be used complementarily because of the sustainable supply of water. A calculating technique of the optimal amount of water resources by the groundwater dam was developed. A pilot site was selected to assess the optial amount of groungwater for the designed groungwater dam. If the developed technique is more refined by the measured data, the groundwater dam will become a good alternative to develope the water resources in the water deficit area.

제조성 평가를 기반으로 한 비회전형상 부품의 작업준비 및 작업순서 생성 (Setup and Operation Sequence Generation from Manufacturability Evaluation for Prismatic Parts)

  • Although some successful recognition algorithms have been developed, most of them did emphasize on extracting accurate interpretations without considerations of manufacturability. Evaluating the manufacturability for multiple features leads to produce the machining sequences. In this paper, the A* algorithm guarantees the optimal setup sequences with minimizing the machining cost. Also, tolerances including surface roughness are converted to STEP formats to be utilized for more reliable process plans. Finally, decision tables are used to create the detailed operational sequences based on geometric tolerances and surface roughness. Machining parameters such as feed, depth of cut, and cutting speed for each operation are added to the routing sheet. Windows are presented to show how the entire system works for a sample part.
