  • In this paper, we considered the authoritative representation of Command and Fire Control System(CFCS) for the surface ship that was the engineering level model to develop system specifications and to analyze operational concepts on the concept design phase and to analyze military requirements, effectiveness and performance for the system. The engineering level model of CFCS can be used in simulation independently of the surface ship's type, and also it takes reuse, interoperability, and extension into consideration. The detailed sub-models, internal and external data interface, data flow among each sub-model, sensor and weapon models about the engineering level model of CFCS was defined. It was verified via engineering level simulations according to the V&V process.

  • The purpose of this paper is to find the fire-protection method for keeping on the bond capacity of Near-Surface-Mounted (NSM) FRP under high temperature. Experiments have been carried out to evaluate the bond capacity of NSM FRP by using CFRP-plates and to confirm the heat transfer to the concrete block when the refractory insulation is attached to the surface of NSM FRP. Bond test of NSM FRP under room temperature was conducted to obtain the maximum bond strength. And then a heating tests were carried out with keeping the bond stress of 30% of the maximum bond strength. As a result, the bond capacity of NSM FRP was disappeared when the temperature at epoxy reached to its glass transition temperature (GTT). In order to secure the bond capacity of the NSM FRP, it is necessary to protect the front as well as side by using insulation materials.

  • At the stage conceptual design, combat vehicle is classified into three general categories of fire power, mobility and physical properties of system. The present research is restricted to fire power and its optimization. At the stage of conceptual designing of system, it is appropriate to consider major variables affecting fire power - including the weight of bullet, which exerts a direct influence on destroying effect, maximum range which takes long range firing in consideration. To estimate the maximum firing range, a simple interior ballistic and an exterior ballistic model were built by using the lumped parameter method, Le Duc method and point mass trajectory model. Design of experiment and regression analysis was used to derive simulations of fire power. Finally, response surface models were built and design variables were analyzed.

  • Fire suppression tests are carried out for a train car using water mist systems. Three kinds of fire scenario applied to the real-scale train car are a surface fire representing car combustibles, a oil pool fire pretending an oil spill and a blocked fire for evaluation of space-cooling capacity. Five fixedpressure water mist systems and one self-contained water mist system with nitrogen gas are used for fire suppression experiments. Almost water mist systems can extinguish effectively train car fires, and fire-control capability of the system is seen due to the space cooling.

  • We investigated moth communities in Samcheok, Korea, to elucidate the influence of the East Coast Fire in 2000. Moths were collected with UV light traps 4 times a year from 2006 to 2009 at 3 sites: Unburned area (Site 1), Surface fire area (Site 2), and Crown fire area (Site 3) sites, respectively. A total of 3,804 individuals belonging to 727 species from 30 families were captured at the 3 study 1,727 individuals of 505 species (27 families) at Site 1, 1,193 individuals of 353 species (24 families) at Site 2, and 885 individuals of 340 species (25 families) at Site 3. Species richness and individuals of Noctuidae, Pyralidae, Geometridae, and Tortricidae were the highest at all 3 sites. All of species richness, individuals, and species diversity (H') were the highest in Site 1 for 4 years. The index of similarity (${\alpha}$-Index) was higher between Site 2 and 3 in 2006, while higher between Site 1 and 2 in 2009. Moths were grouped into 16 categories by hosts of the larval stage. Individuals of moths of herbaceous feeding habit continuously decreased at Site 3, but proportion of individuals of tree feeding habits continuously increased. The present results showed that moth communities was relatively recovered according to vegetation change after forest fire and regeneration of moth communities in surface fire area was more faster than in crown fire area.

  • Electric fire breaks out by various causes such as electric short, overload(over current), leakage current, poor contact, static electricity, insulation deterioration, partial disconnection and etc. In this paper, we studied analysis technique for scientific and systematic judgment for distinction of electricity fire existence and nonexistence, and described about electricity fire cause analysis process for collecting physical evidences. We handled external form analysis, Substance extension analysis, X-ray transmission analysis, cross-section analysis, thermal analysis, chemical structure analysis, surface structure analysis, component analysis, electrical properties analysis, and circuit analysis by analysis technique for electricity fire cause judgment. We expect that analysis technic elevation and correct cause of fire analysis of scene of a fire investigators and analysts through this paper which see help.

  • The present study was numerically and experimentally performed to investigate the fire suppression performance of water mist spray subjected to thermal radiation in closed space. Downward-directed water mist sprays to interact with an under kerosine pool fire were investigated in test facility. The mass mean diameters of water mist droplet were measured by PMAS under various flow conditions. The developed water mist spray nozzle was satisfied to the criteria of NFPA 750, Class 1. The mechanism of the fire suppression by water mist was concluded to be cooling of the fire surface which lead to suppressed of fuel evaporation. It was proved that the water mist spray system under lower pressures could be applied to underground fire protection system.

  • To use glazing systems protected by automatic sprinklers as fire barriers in building compartmentation, fire endurance tests of these systems have been performed by several research workers. Most of the tests concerned the types of glasses and sprinklers, sprinkler water flow rate, and sprinkler activation time. Horizontal side wall sprinklers and window glazing systems with a vertical center mullion were mainly applied in the tests. In the study, full-scale fire endurance tests were carried out to verify the ability of large glazing systems divided by a horizontal mullion and protected by pendent vertical sprinklers. The result shows that the protrusive length of the horizontal mullion, which is perpendicular to the glass surface, is the main parameter that determines the fire resistance rating of the systems. The mullion obstructs the water flow in the glass.

  • In the longway tunnel and underground traffic road, the structure of transverse ventilation system is constructed by the airpit slab. In this study, the full scale specimens of the PSC airpit slab that attached fire resistance panel are performed the static and dynamic loading tests for evaluation of bending capacity. The first of all, it confirmed the evaluations about the fundamental efficiency of the fire resistance panel and PSC slab by the 3-point bending test and pull-off test. The tests are performed for evaluation of the bending resistance under ultimate static load and the bonded capacity under dynamic fatigue load. A fatigue test is performed for an investigation of the effect on wind pressure that is developed by transit of traffic. The damage or debonding on surface between fire resistance panel and PSC slab was not developed in dynamic fatigue load test, also the behavior of the specimens is very stable and the debonding of the fire resistance panel attached at the bottom surface of PSC slab was not developed in static load test, too. Therefore, the crack or debonding of the fire resistance panel will be not developed by external loads during the construction or completion of the precast fire resistance system.
