  • 이 연구는 원자층 증착(Atomic Layer Deposition, ALD) 기술을 사용하여 나노미터 크기의 금속 촉매 물질을 연료극 층에 코팅하여 표면적을 늘리고 촉매의 효과를 극대화시키기 위한 연구이다. ALD 공정은 기판 위에 원자 수준에서 잘 제어된 두께를 갖는 균일한 막을 제조하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 우리는 고체산화물 연료전지의 연료극 물질로 가장 널리 알려진 Ni/YSZ 위에 금속(Ni)을 코팅하여 성능을 측정하였다. ALD 코팅은 3 nm 이상의 코팅에서 전지 성능의 감소를 보이기 시작했다

  • Composite plating is a method of co-deposition of plating layer with metallic and/or non-metallic particles to improve the plating layer properties such as high corrosion resistance and photolysis of organic compounds. The properties of nickel-ceramic composite plating are significantly depend on the surface characteristics of co-deposited particles as well as the quantity in electrolyte. In this study, Ni-$TiO_2$ composite coating layer was produced by electrodeposition technique from non-aqueous eletrolyte and its surface characteristics as well as photolytic properties were investigated. The amounts of immobilized $TiO_2$ particles increased with increasing the initial $TiO_2$ particles contents in the bath. Samples electroplated with the current density of $0.5\;A/dm^2$ showed the significantly improved homogeneous $TiO_2$ particles distribution. The corrosion resistance of Ni-$TiO_2$ composite coating layer also improved with increaing the amounts of $TiO_2$ particles. Etched sample showed about 10% increased photolytic rate of organic matter compare to that of the non-etched.

  • The effect of interlayer coating thickness of Ni and Ti on corrosion behavior was studied for TiN ion plat-ed steel plate. Interlayer coating was carried out in a single and bi-layer to a various thickness combination prior to final TiN coating. Corrosion behavior was evaluated by anodic polarization test in 1N H2SO4 as well as salt spray test. Ni interlayer coating was effectived in reducing corrosion current density of active region and Ti interlayer coating over Ni coating reduced the anodic corrosion current density by an order of 4 with increasing the thickness of Ti up to$ 3\mu\textrm{m}$. The improvement of corrosion resistance by Ni/Ti interlayer coating was attributed to the effective prevention of penetration of active corrosion agent resulting from the inherent corrosion resistance of Ni and Ti. Putting corrosion behavior was observed from salt spray test result for all specimens and corrosion resistance at salt atmosphere was enhanced with increasing Ni and Ti thickness, Cor-lay TiN coating was spalled out by the generation of corrosion products.

  • This paper deals with the singular stresses developed in a polymer coating on concrete due to temperature change. The boundary element method is employed to investigate the behavior of interface stresses. Numerical results show that very large stress gradients are present at the interface comer and such stress singularity dominates a very small region relative to layer thickness. Since the exceedingly large stresses at the interface corner cannot be borne by coating materials, local yielding or delamination can occur in the vicinity of free surface.

  • We fabricated durable anti-reflective(AR) layer with silica globular coating on polymer by two steps. Firstly, nano-protrusions of polymer were formed by plasma etching known as R.I.E(reactive ion etching) process. Secondly, silica globular coating was deposited on polymer nano-protrusions for mechanically protective and optically enhancing AR layers by RF magnetron sputter. And then durable antireflective polymers were synthesized adjusting plasma power and time, working pressures of RIE and RF sputtering processes. Consequently, we acquired the average transmission (94.10%) in the visible spectral range 400-800 nm and the durability of AR layer was verified to sustain its transmission until 5,000 numbers by rubber test at a load of 500 gf.

Enhanced Electrochemical Properties of All-Solid-State Batteries Using a Surface-Modified LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 Cathode

  • Undesirable interfacial reactions between the cathode and sulfide electrolyte deteriorate the electrochemical performance of all-solid-state cells based on sulfides, presenting a major challenge. Surface modification of cathodes using stable materials has been used as a method for reducing interfacial reactions. In this work, a precursor-based surface modification method using Zr and Mo was applied to a LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 cathode to enhance the interfacial stability between the cathode and sulfide electrolyte. The source ions (Zr and Mo) coated on the precursor-surface diffused into the structure during the heating process, and influenced the structural parameters. This indicated that the coating ions acted as dopants. They also formed a homogenous coating layer, which are expected to be layers of Li-Zr-O or Li-Mo-O, on the surface of the cathode. The composite electrodes containing the surface-modified LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 powders exhibited enhanced electrochemical properties. The impedance value of the cells and the formation of undesirable reaction products on the electrodes were also decreased due to surface modification. These results indicate that the precursor-based surface modification using Zr and Mo is an effective method for suppressing side reactions at the cathode/sulfide electrolyte interface.

기체분리용 세라믹 복합분리막의 개발: I. 극미세 입자 실리카 졸의 코팅 특성 (Development of Ceramic Composite Membranes for Gas Separation: I. Coating Characteristics of Nanoparticulate SiO2 Sols)

  • Alumina tubes suitable for the support of gas separation membranes have been prepared by the slipcasting technique. These supports have the average pore size of 0.1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ within the narrow distribution. The sol-gel dipcoating process of nanoparticulate sols is very sensitive to microstructure of the support, and the coating on the inside surface of the tube is found to be more successful than on the outside surface. Nanoparticulate silica sols (0.82 mol/ι) have been synthesized by an interfacial hydrolysis reaction between TEOS and high alkaline water. When coating an alumina tube with these sols, the minimum limits of the particle size and the aging time required for forming the coated gel layer at the given pH are provided. It is optimum to coat the support with less concentrated sols stabilized through aging for the appropriate time (more than 22 days) at the lower pH (pH 2.0) for producing a reproducible crack free thin film coating in composite membranes.

폴리우레탄 코팅 장갑의 기포로 인한 불량 현상에 대한 고찰과 개선 (A Study on Defects Due to Air Bubbles in the PU-Coating Gloves and Enhanced Molds to Reduce the Defects)

  • With the developments in knitting, manufacturing, and polymers, coated gloves have been evolved in a way to maximize occupational safety and functionality. In this paper, we have considered the PU-coating process for the glove knitted by Dyneema to reduce the occurrence of the defects due to air bubble. This paper classifies the types of defect due to air bubble and traces their forming mechanisms. The air between coating layer of glove and mold's surface forms the defects if it is not evacuated fully in the process of submerging into water. The defects can be suppressed or avoided by forming air-evacuating path on the surface of the molds.

  • 전자파 차폐 기능을 가지고 있는 ITO 코팅층을 안경 유리 기판위에 마그네트론 스퍼터링 방법으로 제조하였다. 코팅된 ITO 층을 surface, profiler, four-point probe, XRD, spectrophotometer 및 Auger electron spectroscopy를 사용하여 기판 온도가 코팅층의 특성 변화에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 기판의 온도가 높을수록 전자의 농도가 증가하였으며 가시영역에서 광투과율도 향상되었다.

Duplex Surface Modification with Micro-arc Discharge Oxidation and Magnetron Sputtering for Aluminum Alloys

  • Micro-arc discharge oxidation (MDO) is a cost-effective plasma electrolytic process which can be used to improve the wear and corrosion resistance of Al-alloy parts by forming a alumina coating on the component surface. However, the MDO coated Al-alloy components often exhibit relatively high friction coefficients and low wear resistance fitted with many counterface materials, additionally, the pitting corrosion for the MDO coated AI-alloy components, especially for a thinner alumina coating, often occurs in atmosphere circumstance due to the porous alumina coats. Therefore, a duplex treatment, combining a MDO coated ahumina thin layer with a TiN coating, prepared by magnetron sputtering (MS), has been investigated. The Vicker's microhardness, pin-on-disc, electrochemical measurement, salt spray, XRD and SEM tests were used to characterize and analyze the treated samples. The work demonstrates that the MDO/MS coated samples have a combination of a very low friction coefficient and good wear resistance as well as corrosion since the micro-holes on alumina coating are partly or fully covered by TiN material.
