This study focuses on 'texture' as one of the most important fashion and textile design elements; in addition, it proposes various applications of it. Surface texture is indispensable in fashion and textile design that also factors heavily into innovative creations. Along with technological advances in the fashion industry, surface texture has derived many new and attractive features that provide more opportunities for designers to show various design concepts. Rather than the surface quality of fabrics, surface texture in fashion design creates its identity through a manipulation of materials- an application that tends to be primarily for visual effects without being restricted to decorative purposes. The status and significance of surface texture in various creative fields is explored and the evolution of surface texture is traced by analyzing a number of fashion design cases with representative surface textures. The latest feature of surface texture in fashion and textile design is identified to establish a new classification of surface texture with five groups and technical suggestions. This study provides a theoretical basis for this field of study and a new framework that can be employed in the development of surface textures that use innovative techniques as well as the future application of newly-developed textures.
In this paper, we present a new morphological texture spectrum approach to obtain a surface orientation using the variation of texture image caused by projective distortions. Under the assumption that the surface of texture image is smooth continuous, and specially plane or sphere, we apply the mathematical morphology and texture spectrum in order to compute the 3-D surface orientation. If the surface of texture image is plane, the surface orientation can be obtained through a simple procedure. If the surface of texture image is sphere, we find the centroids of texels, and may compute several major axes, their slopes, and vanishing points. Using the texture spectrum between the intersections of the vanishing points and the size of elements in each texels, we can find the surface orientation of texels on the sphere.
TiN coated films show a good mechanical properties, high thermal properties and wear, erosion and corrosion resistance and are widely used as a coating materials in tools, ornaments, parts and semiconductors. In spite of these good properties, the fracture of TiN coated films occur during use. The fracture of TiN thin films is related to their microstructure. Especially, the life of TiN coated layer is related to the texture of the TiN films. One researcher suggested that the corrosion and erosion resistance of the TiN thin films is related to a uniform and dense structure of films. In this study, we studied the relationships between textures and friction coefficient, erosion and corrosion in TiN coated films. The flatness of (115) texture surface of TiN thin films is flatter than that of (111) texture surface. The friction coefficient of (115) texture surface of TiN thin films is similar with that of (111) texture surface. The wear resistance of (115) texture surface of TiN thin films is better than that of (111) texture surface. The erosion and corrosion resistance of (115) texture surface of TiN thin films is better than that of (111) torture surface. As well as texture, the wear, erosion and corrosion of TiN thin films has to consider defects such as pinholes, cracks, surface roughness and open columnar structure. The life of TiN coated products is influenced by the properties of wear, erosion, and corrosion resistance of TiN thin films and is related to texture of TiN coated films, density of pinholes and cracks, density of structure, and surface flatness.

The surface texture of a product is generally produced by etching or sandblasting. However, these techniques have problems related to repeatability and environmental pollution. Since current milling machines can produce small parts at the micrometer or nanometer level, the resolution of milling exceeds the manufactured dimensions of the surface texture produced by etching or sand-blasting. A method for generating surface texture by milling is proposed and demonstrated. The proposed method was demonstrated by actual milling using a three- or five-axis control machine, and the machined surface texture was measured with an interferometer to allow comparison with the designed shape. The measurement results demonstrate that the proposed method can generate a wide-area surface texture with good machining repeatability.
Texture provides an important acurce of information about the threedicensfornarry information of visible surface particulary for stationary conccular views. To recover three dicmensinoary information, the distorging effects of pro jection must be distinguished from properties of the texture on which the distrortion acts. In this paper, we show an approximated maximum likelihood estimation method by which we find surface oriemtation of the visible surface in gaussian sphere using local analysis of the texture, In addition assuming that an orthographic projection and a circle is an image formation system and a texel(texture element)respectively we derive the surface orientation from the distribution of variation by means of orthographic pro jemction of a tangent directon which exstis regulary in the are length of a circle we present the orientation parameters of textured surface with saint and tilt and also the surface normal of the resvlted surface orimentation as needle map. This algorithm was applied to geograghic contour and synthetic textures.
The evolution of texture and microstructure during warm rolling and subsequent annealing in aluminium 3004 alloy sheet was investigated by X-ray texture measurements and microstructure observations. Warm rolling at 250$^{\circ}C$ led to the development of strong through thickness texture gradients with shear textures at the surface layer and a regular rolling texture in the center of the sheets. FEM simulations indicated that these texture gradients are caused by pronounced strain gradients throughout the sheet thickness. Upon recrystallization annealing, in the sheet center the characteristic cube-recrystallization texture developed, while in the surface layers with a pronounced shear texture continuous recrystallization took place which led to the formation of a very fine grained microstructure. It is concluded that the very complex strain history in the near-surface layers together with the resulting high work-hardening rate gave rise to the formation of the ultra-fine grains with an average size smaller than 2$\mu\textrm{m}$.
The semiconductor, which is precision product, requires many inspection processes. The surface conditions of the semiconductor chip affect on the functions of the semiconductors. The defects of the chip surface are cracks or voids. As general inspection method requires many inspection procedure, the inspection system which searches immediately and precisely the defects of the semiconductor chip surface is required. We suggest the detection algorithm for inspecting the surface defects of the semiconductor surface. The proposed algorithm first regards the semiconductor surface as random texture and point spread function, and secondly presents the character of texture by linear estimation theorem. This paper assumes that the gray level of each pixel of an image is estimated from a weighted sum of gray levels of its neighbor pixels by linear estimation theorem. The weight coefficients are determined so that the mean square error is minimized. The obtained estimation window(two-dimensional estimation window) characterizes the surface texture of semiconductor and is used to discriminate the defects of semiconductor surface.
Super precision working technique and machine tool have been continually developed thanks to advanced electronic field. To obtain good result. it is necessary to investigate surface in grinding with $mu extrm{m}$ level. There were quite many researches to satisfy these demands by using non-contact methods through the computer vision. In this study, the texture of working surface was analyzed. co-occurrence matrices was obtained from the surface roughness. Texture parameter was obtained using position operator composed of $ heta$, d according to variation of angle direction and distance. As a result, it was found that surface texture was more affected by direction($\theta$) than distance(d).

Because general inspection method requires many inspection processes, the inspection system which searches immediately and preciselythe defects of the semiconductor chip surface. We propose the inspection method by using the computer vision system. This study presents an image processing algorithm for inspecting the surface defects(crack, void)of the semiconductor test samples. The proposed image processing algorithm aims to reduce inspection time, and to analyze those experienced operator. This paper regards the chip surface as random texture, and deals with the image modeling of randon texture image for searching the surface defects. For texture modeling, we consider the relation of a pixel and neighborhood pixels as noncasul model and extract the statistical characteristics from the radom texture field by using the 2D AR model(Aut oregressive). This paper regards on image as the output of linear system, and considers the fidelity or intelligibility criteria for measuring the quality of an image or the performance of the processing techinque. This study utilizes the variance of prediction error which is computed by substituting the gary level of pixel of another texture field into the two dimensional AR(autoregressive model)model fitted to the texture field, estimate the parameter us-ing the PAA(parameter adaptation algorithm) and design the defect detection filter. Later, we next try to study the defect detection search algorithm.
