  • In this article, we generalize the results discussed in [6] by introducing a genus to generic fibers of Lefschetz fibrations. That is, we give families of relations in the mapping class groups of genus-1 surfaces with boundaries that represent rational homology disk smoothings of weighted homogeneous surface singularities whose resolution graphs are 3-legged with a bad central vertex.

  • Implicit finite element analysis of the flat surface-straight edge hemming process is performed by using a commercial code ABAQUS/Standard. Methods of finite element modeling for springback simulation and contact pair definition are discussed. An optimal mesh system is chosen through the error analysis that is based on the smoothing of discontinuity in the state variables. This study has focused on the investigation of the influence of process parameters in flanging, pre-hemming and main hemming on final hem quality, which can be defined by turn-down, warp and roll-in. The parameters adopted in this parametric study are flange length, flange angle, flanging die corner radius, face angle and insertion angle of pre-hemming punch, and over-stroke of pre-hemming and main hemming punches.

명도 표면 스트레칭에 의한 화질 개선 기법 (Contrast Enhancement Technique by Intensity Surface Stretching)

  • 본 논문은 디지털 카메라로 촬영된 영상의 화질을 향상시키기 위해 영상의 명도 표면을 생성하여 이를 스트레칭 하는 대비 개선 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 명도 표면 스트레칭 기법은 가우시안 함수에 의해 상부 명도 표면과 하부 명도 표면을 생성하여 출력 영상의 최대 명도 범위로 스트레칭함으로써 입력 영상의 대비를 개선하게 된다. 다양한 조명 환경에서 획득한 디지털 컬러 사진을 대상으로 기존의 화질 개선 알고리즘인 히스토그램 스트레칭, 명도 표면 스트레칭, 히스토그램 평활화, 감마 조정, 레티넥스 기법과 제안한 화질 개선 기법의 성능을 비교 평가하였다. 실험 결과 제안한 영상 개선 기법은 다른 방법들에 비해 CPP 성능이 우수하였으며 인간 시각의 관점에서 자연스럽게 화질을 향상시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Numerical simulation of resistance performance according to surface roughness in container ships

  • In recent years, oil prices have continued to be low owing to the development of unconventional resources such as shale gas, coalbed methane gas, and tight gas. However, shipping companies are still experiencing difficulties because of recession in the shipping market. Hence, they devote considerable effort toward reducing operating costs. One of the important parameters for reducing operating costs is the frictional resistance of vessels. Generally, a vessel is covered with paint for smoothing its surface. However, frictional resistance increases with time owing to surface roughness, such as that caused by fouling. To prevent this, shipping companies periodically clean or repaint the surfaces of vessels using analyzed operating data. In addition, studies using various methods have been continuously carried out to identify this phenomenon such as fouling for managing ships more efficiently. In this study, numerical simulation was used to analyze the change in the resistance performance of a ship owing to an increase in surface roughness using commercial software, i.e., Star-CCM+, which solves the continuity and Navier eStokes equations for incompressible and viscous flow. The conditions for numerical simulation were verified through comparison with experiments, and these conditions were applied to three ships to evaluate resistance performance according to surface roughness.

ESS 안전성 개선을 위한 결로 운전 조건 고려 고체절연물 연면 절연파괴특성 분석 (Analysis on Solid Insulator Flashover Characteristics on Moisture Contamination for Electrical Insulation Improvement of ESS)

  • As the large-scale renewable energy power plant increases, the high-capacity and compact Energy Storage System (ESS) is required. However, this trend could reduce the insulation reliability of ESS. In this study, the surface flashover characteristics for four types of solid insulators are investigated in the uniform electric field with AC and Lightning Impulse (LI) voltage waveforms under various contamination levels. In addtion, insulator surfaces are compared based on the contact angle before and after surface flashover. The experimental results show that AC flashover voltage is dependent on the materials and the contamination level, but LI flashover voltage is only associated with the contamination level. Especially, AC flashover voltage of PC (PolyCarbonate) is higher than that of other insulators, which is associated with the unique and sequential creepage discharge propagation pattern of PC. The localized discharges on the surface of PC form corresponding tracking points. Then, the interconnected trackings result in the complete flashover. This flashover patterns degrade the surface of PC much more than that of epoxy and Bulk Molding Compoud (BMC). Thus, the contact angle of PC is significantly reduced compared to that of other insulators. The increased hydrophilicity in the surface of PC enhances the insulator surface conductivity.

수치표고모형에서 경사와 곡률경중율의 영향 (The Effects of Declination and Curvature Weight in DEM)

  • 수치표고모델은 실제지형모델의 참값과 비교하여 충분하고 높은 정확도를 지녀야 하며, 미리 주어져 있는 지형데이타와 보간법을 사용하여 임의의 평면위치(X, Y)에 대응하는 표고 h를 구하고 경사를 구할 수 있는 모텔을 만들어 놓아야 한다. 보간의 정확도는 지형의 기복 상태와 자료의 밀도에 우선적으로 영향을 받게 되므로, 지형을 객관적인 방법으로 분류할 필요가 있다. 평균경사도와 면적비는 지형이 경사상태에 따라 비슷한 분류 결과를 가져오는 변수이지만, 지형의 국소적인 변화크기를 동시에 표시하는 변수는 면적비이다. 그러므로 본 연구는 지형의 분류를 좀 더 객관화하기 위하여 비고에 의해서가 아니라 경사도에 의해 분류하고, 경사와 곡률경중율의 영향을 분석하여 그 경사도에 합당한 매개변수를 도입하므로써 보다 현실에 가까운 모델을 재현하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 연구의 결과는 첫째, 경사에 의한 지형의 분류는 평지는 pl6과 p24 준경사지 pl6과 S, 급경사지는 S 와 p24가 적합하고 곡률에 의한 분류는 평지와 준경사지에서 모두 p24와 S가 적합하며, 급경사지에서는 pl6이 적합하였다. 경사와 기복 변화량을 조합한 경우는 평지는 pl6, 준경사지는 p24, 급경사지는 S가 각각 적합하였다. 둘째, 유형화율은 경사 50%, 곡률경중율 0.0015에서 50∼80%로 가장 컸다.

THE EFFECT OF SURFACE METEOROLOGICAL MEASUREMENTS ON PRECISION GPS HEIGHT DETERMINATION

  • The positioning accuracy of the Global Positioning System (GPS) has been improved considerably during the past two decades. The main error sources such as ionospheric refraction, orbital uncertainty, antenna phase center variation, signal multipath, and tropospheric delay have been reduced substantially, if not eliminated. In this study, the GPS data collected by the GPS receivers that were established as continuously operating reference stations by International GNSS Service (IGS), Ministry of the Interior (MOl), Central Weather Bureau (CWB), and Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) Of Taiwan are utilized to investigate the impact of atmospheric water vapor on GPS positioning determination. The surface meteorological measurements that were concurrently acquired by instruments co-located with the GPS receivers include temperature, pressure and humidity data. To obtain the influence of the GPS height on the proposed impact study. A hydrodynamic ocean tide model (GOTOO.2 model) and solid earth tide were used to improve the GPS height. The surface meteorological data (pressure, temperature and humidity) were introduced to the data processing with 24 troposphere parameters. The results from the studies associated with different GPS height were compared for the cases with and without a priori knowledge of surface meteorological measurements. The finding based on the measurements in 2003 is that the surface meteorological measurements have an impact on the GPS height. The associated daily maximum of the differences is 1.07 cm for the KDNM station. The impact is reduced due to smoothing when the average of the GPS height for the whole year is considered.

MODIS 지표 분광반사도 자료를 이용한 고품질 NDVI 시계열 자료 생성의 기법 비교 연구 (A comparative study for reconstructing a high-quality NDVI time series data derived from MODIS surface reflectance)

  • 원격탐사 자료 기반의 식생지수 시계열 자료를 이용함에 있어서 가장 중요한 것은 구름이나 에어로졸에 의한 자료의 품질저하 문제이다. 이 연구에서는 MODIS09 지표 분광반사도 자료를 이용하여 구름영향에 의한 저품질 자료를 제거한 뒤 결손자료를 내삽, 평활하여 연속적인 Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) 시계열 자료를 생산하였다. 구름에 의한 영향을 제거하기 위한 방법으로 MODIS 분광반사도 자료를 이용한 5가지의 구름탐지기법을 선정하여 비교, 평가하였다. 위성자료에서 제공하는 품질관리정보 (Quality Assessment, QA)에서 구름이라고 판단한 경우, MODIS09 Band 3 반사도가 10% 이상인 경우와 20% 이상인 경우, Cloud Detection Index (CDI)가 임계값 이상인 경우, 센서 천정각이 $32.25^{\circ}$ 이상인 경우를 각각 구름으로 판단하였다. 구름탐지로 인해 발생한 자료의 결손은 선형적 내삽 기법을 이용하여 보정한 뒤 Savitzky-Golay (S-G) 필터와 웨이브렛 변환을 각각 적용하여 평활하였다. 구름 탐지 기법은 10% 이상 Band 3 반사도 제거 기법(85%), Quality Control (QC) (82%), 20% 이상 Band 3 반사도 제거 기법(81%)의 순으로 높은 구름탐지율을 보였다. 웨이브렛 변환은 선형의 시계열 패턴을 얻을 수 있지만 원 자료의 최대값을 반영하지 못하는 반면 S-G 필터는 구름에 의한 신뢰도 낮은 값은 제거하면서도 NDVI 원 자료의 최대값을 유지하여 시계열 자료의 계절적 특성을 잘 보여주는 것을 확인하였다. 이 연구에서는 구름의 탐지, 결손 내삽, 평활 기법의 순차적인 자료처리기법을 적용하여 구름 영향을 제거한 고품질의 시계열 자료의 생산이 가능함을 확인하였다.

  • Mold-manufacturing process consists of machining and finishing process that are strongly related in each other. But there are few studies about mold-manufacturing process to control those two processes simultaneously. Especially, runout distorts the machined surface from expected so it changes the finishing process and mold-manufacturing time. In this work, basic analyses and experiments were carried out to study RVAS variation according to runout in HSM. To perform those analyses, firstly surface generation analysis was done including runout in ball end milling and then the RVAS that could relate machining and finishing process was proposed. And the optimal finishing process in HSM according to RVAS was also proposed. Through experiment runout occurrence and above analyses were verified.

원형 탱크 내부의 기포운동에 대한 가시화 연구 (Visualization Study on Kinematics of Bubble Motion in a Water Filled Cylindrical Tank)

  • A visualization study to evaluate bubble motion in a tab water filled cylindrical tank with a varying flow rate of compressed air is conducted. The flow rate of compressed air varies from 1 to 5 L/min. Time resolved images are acquired by a high speed camera in 10 bit gray level at 100 fps and the measurement volume is irradiated by a 230 W halogen lamp. It is observed that there are three different regions; the bubble formation region, the rising bubble region and the free surface region. During the rise of bubble, the shape is changed as if an elastic body. Based on the binarized bubble image, the mean diameters of rising bubbles are estimated at beneath of the free surface. As the gas flow rate increases, the mean diameter is increased and the rising velocity also increases with buoyancy force.
