The environment for surface mounting machines plays an important role in a throughput. An approach to organize the optimal integrated environment for surface mounting machines is presented to increase a throughput. An optimization problem is divided into a feeder setting problem and a task sequencing problem. Two algorithms for each problem are proposed. The feeder setting problems is optimized by an algorithm based on heuristic methods. The task sequencing problem is modeled as a TSP(Traveling salesman problem). An algorithm based on a heuristic tour-to-tour improvement method for TSP is proposed to optimize the task sequencing problem. A simulation is carried out to test developed algorithms.

Spherical glass lenses are used in many optical industries. The curvature, eccentricity and height of a tool affect the surface roughness and curvature of lenses. The purpose of this study is the development and performance of a self-diagnostication ultra-precision lens polishing machine. In this paper, structure analysis is performed to reduce maximum displacement and to maintain outside the resonance region by CATIA V5. A spherical center setting gage is developed to increase accuracy of the manufactured lenses. The surface roughness, curvature and thickness of the manufactured lenses are measured and studied.

Purpose: In this study we evaluated the morphologic aspects of defects created by a piezoelectric ultrasonic scaler with scaler tip on casting gold alloy using scanning electron microscope (SEM) images and defect surface profiles. Methods: 54 blocks of type III casting gold alloy (Firmilay, Jellenko Inc, CA, USA) were scaled by a piezoelectric ultrasonic scaler (P-MAX, Satelec, France) with scaler tip (No. 1 tip) on a sledge device. 2-dimensional profiles of defects on all samples were investigated by a surface profilometer (a-Step 500, KLA-Tencor, CA, USA). The selected working parameters were lateral force (0.5 N, 1.0 N, 2.0 N), mode (P mode, S mode), and power setting (2, 4, 8). SEM images were obtained. Defect surface profiles were made on Microsoft Excel program using data obtained by a surface profilometer. Results: Among P mode samples, there were similarities on defect surface profiles and SEM images regardless of lateral force. The defects created in P mode were narrow and shallow although the depth and the width increased as power setting changed low (2) to high (8). In P mode samples, the defect depth was the greatest when lateral force of 0.5 N was applied. However all the depths were smaller than 1 m. SEM images of Lateral force of 0.5 N, S mode, power setting 2 and 4 were similar to that of P mode, but the other SEM images of S mode showed discernible changes. Defect depth of S mode samples was the greatest when lateral force of 1.0 N was applied. Conclusions: Within the limitations of this study, it can be concoluded that removing capability of piezoelectric scaler with scaler tip becomes maximized as power level becomes higher but the capability is restricted when excessive lateral force is applied on scaler tip.

Paper coating can give smoothness surface and good printability to uncoated paper. Macro roughness of base paper would be decreasing its groove and grit in view of side. Nevertheless its improving effect for paper, some kind of problem is showing in the fine coated paper. Especially, back trap mottle is one of serious problems in printing with fine coated paper. Printers can not adjust conditions to overcome the problem. Also large amounts of paper can be rejected. There are many factors that influence back trap mottle. However it is not clear what the important parameters are in back trap mottle. Back trap mottle has some relationship with ink setting but good guidelines are not clear. Back trap mottle has been linked to non-uniform ink setting. We do not know how much variation in setting we can tolerate. Other mottle issues such as micro-picking and ink refusal are still common. This paper was prepared to identify correlation with ink setting and delta ink density obtained from experiment and then tried to find out some relationships with ink setting and back trap mottle. Basically fine calcium carbonate and ciay was used for main components and coarse calcium carbonate was mixed in two fine pigments to change its porosity and ink acceptance. Micro ink tack force at KRK printing tester was adapted to measure ink setting rate. KRK units were used for back trap mottle simulation and two printed samples were prepared to check delta ink density. Clay base coating has more fast ink setting time than calcium carbonate's though smoothness of clay was better than calcium carbonate. It could be explained by that clay has finer pore in its coating than calcium carbonate. DID(delta ink density) has shown a good correlation with ink setting time from micro ink tack. The total pore volume of coating layer did not match with ink setting and DID. From the results we might conclude coating that has fine pore size around 0.05 ${\mu}m$ can be exposed to high possibility of back trap mottle.

Numerical optimization of two dimensional high lift configuration was performed with flow solver and optimization method based on RSM(Response Surface Model). Navier-Stokes solver with Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model was selected for the simulation of highly complex and separated flows on the flap. For the simultaneous optimization of both flap shape and setting (gap/overlap), 10 design variables (eight variables for flap shape variation and two variables for flap setting) were chosen. In order to generate the response surface model, 128 experimental points were selected for 10 design variables. The objective function considering maximum lift coefficient, lift to drag ratio and lift coefficient at specific angle of attack was selected to reduce flow separation on the flap surface. The present method was applied to two dimensional fowler flap in landing configuration. After applying the present method, it was shown that the optimized high lift configuration had less flow separation on the flap surface and lift to drag ratio was suppressed over entire angle of attack range.
Drying shrinkage cracking which may be caused by the relatively large specific surface is a matter of grave concern for latex modified concrete(LMC) overlay and rapid-setting cement latex modified concrete(RSLMC) overlay. Therefore, the purpose of this dissertation was to study the drying shrinkage properties of LMC and RSLMC with the main experimental variables such as cement types(ordinary portland cement, rapid setting cement), latex contents(0, 5, 10, 15, 20%), W-C ratios, and curing days at a same controlled environment of 60% of relative humidity and $20^{\circ}C$ of temperature. Test results revealed that the drying shrinkage of latex modified concrete(LMC), rapid-setting cement latex modified concrete(RSLMC) was considerably lower than that of ordinary portland cement concrete(OPC), rapid-setting cement concrete(RSC), respectively. This may be attributed to the interlocking of hydrated cement and aggregates by a film of latex particles, water retention due to hydrophobic and colloidal properties of the latexes, resulting in reduced water evaporation.

The tool overhang length affects tool deflection and chatter that should be reduced for machined surface quality, productivity and long tool lift. The shortest tool setting algorithm that uses a safe space is proposed and applied with simulation software in NC machining. The safe space in the coordinate fixed in the tool is computed by the virtual machining system that simulates NC machining by stock model, tool model and NC code. The optimal tool assembly that has largest diameter and shortest length is possible using the safe space. This algorithm has been applied over fifty companies for safe and rigid tool setting. The collision accident between holder and stock was reduced from 3 to 0 a year and the productivity was incensed about 15% by using faster feed rate acceptable for shorten tool length.

Recently, ultra high performance fiber reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) having over 180 MPa compressive strength and 10 MPa tensile strength has been developed in Korea. However, UHPFRC represents different material properties with normal concrete (NC) and conventional high performance concrete (HPC) such as a high early age autogenous shrinkage and a rapid dry on the surface, because it has a low water-binder ratio and high fineness admixtures without coarse aggregate. In this study, therefore, to propose suitable experimental methods and regulations, and to evaluate mechanical properties at a very early age for UHPFRC, setting, shrinkage and tensile tests were performed. From the setting test results, paraffin oil was an appropriate material to prevent drying effect on the surface, because if paraffin oil is applied on the surface, it can efficiently prevent the drying effect and does not disturb or catalyze the hydration of cement. From the ring-test results, it was defined that the shrinkage stress is generated at the time when the graph tendency of temperature and strain of inner steel ring is changed. By comparing with setting test result, the shrinkage stress was firstly occurred as the penetration resistance of 1.5 MPa was obtained, and it was about 0.6 and 2.1 hour faster than those of initial and final sets. So, the starting time of autogenous shrinkage measurement (time-zero) of UHPFRC was determined when the penetration resistance of 1.5 MPa was obtained. Finally, the tensile strength and elastic modulus of UHPFRC were measured from near initial setting time by using a very early age tensile test apparatus, and the prediction models for tensile strength and elastic modulus were proposed.

This paper is to investigate the mock up test results of mass concrete for transfer girder using setting time difference with super retarding agent(SRA) to reduce hydration heat. According to test results, the temperature history of plain concrete without placing lift had a steep rising curvature, and plain concrete had a big temperature difference between surface and middle section of mass concrete, which may result in occurrence of temperature crack. However, considering placing method B, because setting time of middle section concrete was retarded with an increase in SRA contents, higher hydration heat temperature was observed at surface section concrete compared with that at middle section concrete at early age, which can lower the possibility of hydration heat crack. In case of placing method C, although peak temperature of hydration heat was much lower, at early age, high crack occurrence possibility of the hydration heat attributable to the big temperature difference between middle section and bottom section of concrete was expected at bottom section concrete. Therefore, the structure above the ground like transfer girder is not applicable to consider the placing method C.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare the adhesion of Candida albicans according to build angle in 3D printing denture base resin. Methods: The 3D printing was performed by setting the build angle of the disk type specimen designed by CAD program at 0 degree, 30 degrees, 60 degrees, and 90 degrees. Surface roughness was measured using a non-contact 3D microsurface profiler. The specimens were incubated in Candida albicans suspension for 24 hours. The attached Candida albicans were detached by cell scraper. The suspension of detached C. albicans was serially diluted and plated on Trypticase soy broth. After 48 hours of incubation, total colony forming unit was counted. Results: There was no significant difference in surface roughness(Sa) between the test groups, but the interlayer boundary was observed. There was no statistically significant difference in total colony forming units of Candida albicans between the test groups. Conclusion: There was no difference in the average surface roughness and adhesion of Candida albicans between the specimens. It is considered that the setting of the build angle should be set considering the accuracy or strength rather than the roughness of the surface.
