This paper presents database technique for an computer-integrated structural design system of buildings. Network database designed to support all the processes of structural design, such as, planning, modelling, analysis, member design and redesign processes etc. stores all information from user input and system results effectively and so provides centeral communication area between applications. The user interface wi th interactive and batch modes plays roles of building modeler including conventional pre-processor and post-processor. The concepts of 'Planar Surface Modeling' and 'Geometry Zoning' are defined for easy construction of building model. The concept presented in this paper will save the time and memory required for model generation and contribute to data consistency, thus leave a designer more time actually performing the analyses and interpreting the results. The formulation of automating the process of bulilding model ins and structural analysis is the key to study.

Integrating a 3D solid modeler with a general purpose FEM code, an automatic nonlinear analysis system of the 3D crack problems has been developed. A geometry model, i.e. a solid containing one or several 3D cracks is defined. Several distributions of local node density are chosen, and then automatically superposed on one another over the geometry model by using the fuzzy knowledge processing. Nodes are generated by the bucketing method, and ten-noded quadratic tetrahedral solid elements are generated by the Delaunay triangulation techniques. The complete finite element(FE) model generated, and a stress analysis is performed. In this system, burden to analysts fur introducing 3D cracks to the FE model as well as fur estimating their fracture mechanics parameters can be dramatically reduced. This paper describes the methodologies to realize such functions, and demonstrates the validity of the present system.

Usually triangular patches are used to transfer geometric shape in Rapid Prototyping CAM system. STL, a list of triangles, is de facto standard in RP industry. Because STL does not have topological infoma- tion, it can cause errornous results. So STL should be verified before using. After adding support structures to anchor the part to the platform and to prevent sagging or distortion, slicing and layer by layer manufactur- ing process are done. But triangular patch is surface model and cannot provide sufficient information on geometry in the above processes. So, geometric modeling is necessary in verifying STL, adding support structures and slicing. It is natural that triangle based modeling is the best when tringular patches are used as input. Considering support structures, solid and faces coexist in RP process. Therefore non-manifold modeler is required. In this study, triangle based non-manifold geometric modeling is proposed for RP sys- tem consistent with STL input.
Purpose: We used a data analysis method to improve semiconductor manufacturing yield. We defined and optimized important factors and applied our findings to a real-world process. The semiconductor industry is very cost-competitive; our findings are useful. Methods: We collected data on 15 independent variables and one dependent variable (yield); we removed outliers and missing values. Using SPSS Modeler ver. 18.0, we analyzed the data both continuously and discretely and identified common factors. Results: We optimized two independent variables in terms of process conditions; yield improved. We used DS Leak software to model netting and Contact CD software to model meshes. DS Leak shows smaller the better characterisrics and Contact CD shows normal the best characteristics Conclusion: Various efforts have been made to improve semiconductor manufacturing yields, and many studies have created models or analyzed various characteristics. We not only defined important factors but also showed how to control processing to improve semiconductor yield.
We compared relative importance of thermal conductivity and initial ground temperature in designing borehole heat exchanger network and also we test accuracy of ground temperature estimation in thermal response test using a proven 3-D T-H modeler. The effect of error in estimating ground temperature on calculated total length of borehole heat exchanger was more than 3 times larger than the case of thermal conductivity in maximum 20% error range. Considering 10% of error in estimating thermal conductivity is generally acceptable, we have to define the initial ground temperature within 5% confidence level. Utilizing the mean annual ground surface temperature and the geothermal gradient map compiled so far can be a economic way of estimating ground temperature with some caution. When performing thermal response test for estimating ground temperature as well as measuring thermal conductivity, minimum 100 minutes of ambient circulation is required, which should be even more in case of very cold and hot seasons.
This study was conducted to evaluate the sideways overturning stability of side loaded mini-forwarder. The model of a prototype was developed using a 3D CAD modeler and the performance was experimentally validated. The prototype model was run on the multibody dynamic analysis program, RecurDyn 6.0, to simulate motions when the model traversed over a circular bump on a inclined ground surface. The simulation was performed at a constant forward speed of 1.85 km/h under the loaded and unloaded conditions. The forward direction was also controlled to vary from 0 to 360 degrees with an increment of 10 degrees. Results of the simulation showed safe regions in which the mini forwarder could travel safely in terms of direction and slope of the ground. Even when the mini-forwarder was loaded by 20 logs of 3.6 m long and 12 cm diameter, it traveled safely within the ground slopes of 1 to 45 degrees by directions.
Surface-subsurface interactions are an intrinsic component of the hydrologic response within a watershed. In general, these interactions are considered to be one of the most difficult areas of the discipline, particularly for the modeler who intends simulate the dynamic relations between these two major domains of the hydrological cycle. In essence, one major complexity is the spatial and temporal variations in the dynamically interacting system behavior. The proper simulation of these variations requires the need for providing an appropriate coupling mechanism between the surface and subsurface components of the system. In this study, an approach for modelling surface-subsurface flow and transport in a fully intergrated way is presented. The model uses the 2-dimensional diffusion wave equation for sheet surface water flow, and the Boussinesq equation with the Darcy's law and Dupuit-Forchheimer's assumption for variably saturated subsurface water flow. The coupled system of equations governing surface and subsurface flows is discretized using the finite volume method with central differencing in space and the Crank-Nicolson method in time. The interactions between surface and subsurface flows are considered mass balance based on the continuity conditions of pressure head and exchange flux. The major module consists of four sub-module (SUBFA, SFA, IA and NS module) is developed.
The innate immune recognition is based on the detection of microbial products. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) located on the cell surface and the endosome senses microbial components and nucleic acids, respectively. Chicken TLRs mediate immune responses by sensing ligands from pathogens, have been studied as immune adjuvants to increase the efficacy of vaccines. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of TLR3 and TLR4 genes in chicken were associated with resistance and susceptibility to viral infection. In this study, SNPs of chTLR3 and chTLR4 genes were retrieved from public database and annotated with chicken reference genome. Three-dimensional models of the chTLR3 and chTLR4 proteins were built using a Swiss modeler. We identified 35 and 13 nsSNPs in chTLR3 and chTLR4 genes respectively. Sorting Intolerant from Tolerant (SIFT) and Polymorphism Phenotyping v2 (Polyphen-2) analyses, suggested that, out of 35 and 13 nsSNPs, 4 and 2 SNPs were identified to be deleterious in chTLR3 and chTLR4 gene respectively. In chTLR3, 1 deleterious SNP was located in ectodomain and 3 were located in the Toll / IL-1 receptor (TIR) domain. Further structural model of chTLR3-TIR domain suggested that 1 deleterious SNP be present in the B-B loop region, which is important for TIR-TIR domain interactions in the downstream signaling. In chTLR4, the deleterious SNPs were located both in the ectodomain and TIR domain. SNPs predicted for chTLR3 and chTLR4 in this study, might be related to resistance or susceptible to viral infection in chickens. Results from this study will be useful to develop the effective measures in chicken against infectious diseases.
