음영처리기법의 비교를 통한 실내공간 조명효과의 예측 (The Prediction of Interior Luminous Effect Through a Comparison of Shading Algorithms)

  • In Interior design, light is the most important factor in deciding color, texture and illumination level which are the basic factors of spatial design. To apply rendering technologies on prediction of illuminating effect, it is important to understand and analyse the basic properties of the illumination models that are local illumination model and global illumination model. The illumination models in computer graphics express the factors which determine the surface color, texture and light distribution through the reflection. The purpose of this study is to propose the best way of shading algorithm in interior space provided by the computer, based on the experimental analysis that 5 shading methods are applied to the interior space. The results of this study were as followed. 1) Local illumination models that are Lambert shading, Ground shading and Phong shading are not suitable to the prediction of interior illumination effect. 2) Ray tracing that is global illumination model could be adopted to interior illumination effects. Ray tracing is a very versatile algorithm because of the large range of lighting effects it can model. 3) Neither radiality nor ray tracing offers a complete solution for simulating all interior illumination effects. 4) Radiosity excels at rendering diffuse-to-diffuse inter-reflections and ray tracing excels at rendering specular reflections. By merging both shading techniques, that offers the best of both. Using computer technologies to simulate lighting in preliminary design stage which will provide information for designers and occupants to determine the effect of using artificial light sources at each stage of their design process. Further study in illumination analysis, prediction of illumination effect, and lighting calculation is required as computer media expands.

  • In this study, the performance of a thermo siphon type radiator made of copper for LED lighting system was evaluated by using an inverse heat transfer method. Heating experiments and finite element heat transfer analysis were conducted for three different cases. The data obtained from experiments were compared with the analysis results. Based on the data obtained from experiments, the inverse heat transfer method was used in order to evaluate the heat transfer coefficient. First, the heat transfer analysis was conducted for non-vacuum state, without the refrigerant. The evaluated heat transfer coefficient on the radiator surface was 40W/$m^2^{\circ}C$. Second, the heat transfer analysis was conducted for non-vacuum state, with the refrigerant, resulting in the heat transfer coefficient of 95W/$m^2^{\circ}C$. Third, the heat transfer analysis was conducted for vacuum state, with refrigerant. For the third case, the evaluated heat transfer coefficients were 140W/$m^2^{\circ}C$. For the third case, the evaluated heat transfer coefficients were 140W/$m^2^{\circ}C$ for the radiator body, 5W/$m^2^{\circ}C$. As a result of inverse heat transfer analysis, it was confirmed that the thermal performance of the current radiator was best in the case of the vacuum state using the refrigerant.

Fabrication of Viewing Angle Direction Brightness-Enhancement Optical Films using Surface Textured Silicon Wafers

  • We demonstrate a low-cost, superbly efficient way of etching for the nano-, and micro-sized pyramid patterns on (100)-oriented Si wafer surfaces for use as a patterned master. We show a way of producing functional optical films for the viewing angle direction brightness-enhancement of Lambertian LED (light emitting diode)/OLED (organic light emitting diode) planar lighting applications. An optimally formulated KOH (Potassium hydroxide) wet etching process enabled random-positioned, and random size-distributed (within a certain size range) pyramid patterns to be developed over the entire (100) silicon wafer substrates up to 8" and a simple replication process of master patterns onto the PC (poly-carbonate) and PMMA (poly-methyl methacrylate) films were performed. Haze ratio values were measured for several film samples exhibiting excellent values over 90% suitable for LED/OLED lighting purposes. Brightness was also improved by 13~14% toward the viewing angle direction. Computational simulations using LightTools$^{TM}$ were also carried out and turned out to be in strong agreement with experimental data. Finally, we could check the feasibility of fabricating low-cost, large area, high performance optical films for commercialization.

레이저 구조광을 이용한 3차원 컴퓨터 시각 형상정보 연속 측정 시스템 개발 (Development of the Computer Vision based Continuous 3-D Feature Extraction System via Laser Structured Lighting)

  • A system to extract continuously the real 3-D geometric fearture information from 2-D image of an object, which is fed randomly via conveyor has been developed. Two sets of structured laser lightings were utilized. And the laser structured light projection image was acquired using the camera from the signal of the photo-sensor mounted on the conveyor. Camera coordinate calibration matrix was obtained, which transforms 2-D image coordinate information into 3-D world space coordinate using known 6 points. The maximum error after calibration showed 1.5 mm within the height range of 103mm. The correlation equation between the shift amount of the laser light and the height was generated. Height information estimated after correlation showed the maximum error of 0.4mm within the height range of 103mm. An interactive 3-D geometric feature extracting software was developed using Microsoft Visual C++ 4.0 under Windows system environment. Extracted 3-D geometric feature information was reconstructed into 3-D surface using MATLAB.

헬리컬 핀 구조를 가진 LED 조명용 히트싱크의 열 특성 (Thermal Characteristics of a Heat Sink with Helical Fin Structure for an LED Lighting Fixture)

  • 본 논문에서는 LED 모듈의 방열성능을 개선하기 위하여 히트싱크의 새로운 핀 구조를 설계하고 열 특성을 분석하였다. 대부분의 히트싱크는 판상형이나 침상형의 핀으로 구성되는 것이 일반적이나, 스프링 모양의 헬리컬 핀 구조를 설계변수와 함께 도입하여 제한된 부피 대비 넓은 표면적을 갖는 히트싱크를 설계하였다. 약 14% 넓어진 표면적을 통해 방열 효율을 개선하였고, 그에 따라 LED 칩의 온도를 약 12% 정도 저감하는 효과를 가져 올 수 있었다. 또한, 기존의 히트싱크 보다 넓은 표면적을 가지는데 비해 형성 부피는 약 15% 감소하게 되어 재료비 절감은 물론 공정상의 이점에 따른 공정 생산비의 절감을 기대할 수 있는 새로운 고성능 LED 조명용 히트싱크를 설계하였다.

고심도 공간의 건축적 특성에 따른 자연집광 시스템의 조명원적 성능분석 (Projecting Performance of a Daylighting Source Based on Its Architectura Applications in the Open-Top Surface Structure)

  • A lightcourt design is typically used to address issues concerning aesthetics, feeling, and mood. From the view point of environmental aspect, as an ecological shaft space, it plays a key role in controlling inner quality. In particularly, the lightcourt concept allows the exploitation of daylighting by bring natural light into the center of the building, thus eliminating dark deep spaces. Additionally, the lightcourt shades the inner space in summer. The amount of light available at the base of the lightcourt depends on a number of factors; translucency of the top, reflectance and the geometry of the space. In this paper is to exemplify a lightcourt configuration with a sloped wall. It promises the maximized a sense of freedom and daylighting availability. It is a matter of course that the lightcourt with open-top plays a role as a light source for the adjacent space to the lightcourt. A series of lighting simulation provides performance data of daylighting with changing photometric factors. For the case that a skylight is not available, an electric lighting design with metal halide lamps has been established to create luminous ceiling. As expected, a sloped lightcourt with open-top exposes its superiority of daylighting source. Ancillary considerations to enhance of daylighting potential for the adjacent space have been issued with performance data.

  • 학교 조명실태를 조사하고 교실 1실에 설치된 조명기구의 수량별로 분류하고, 분류된 형태별로 조도를 측정하여 조도실태를 분석하였다. 책상면 조도는 학교시설기준을 만족하나 칠판용 국부조명을 설치하지 않은 경우 칠판조도가 학교시설기준에 미치지 못하였다. 교실 마감재 반사율 측정과 램프교체 및 램프청소 실험 등 실제로 측정한 자료를 기초로 하여 시뮬레이션 한 결과 현실적으로 전반조명 9등과 칠판용 국부조명이 필요하였으며, 유지관리를 고려한 설계가 요구됨을 알 수 있었다.

$Eu^{2+}$-doped $Ca_2Si_5N_8$ 박막의 광학특성 (Luminescence Properties of $Eu^{2+}$-doped $Ca_2Si_5N_8$ Thin Films)

  • $Eu^{2+}$-doped $Ca_2Si_5N_8$ was grown on Si(100) substrate using metal-organic deposition (MOD) method and post-annealed at $900^{\circ}C$ in various atmosphere. Luminescence properties of these thin films were investigated with variations of $Eu^{2+}$-doped concentrations and annealing atmosphere. Thin film was formed with clean surface and uniform thickness of about 72 nm. From the measurements of luminescence properties of thin films, film must be post-annealed in nitrogen or mixture of nitrogen and hydrogen atmosphere to emit a sufficient light. For $Ca_{1.5}Eu_{0.5}Si_5N_8$ thin film annealed at $900^{\circ}C$ in nitrogen atmosphere, excitation band from 380 to 420 nm was detected with the maximum intensity at 404 nm and two broad emission bands from 530 to 630 nm were observed. These broad excitation and emission bands must be attributed to the nitrogen incorporations into the films. From the results, $Ca_{2-x}Eu_xSi_5N_8$ thin film has probability for next generation thin film lighting applications such as light emitting diode (LED) or electro-luminescence (EL).

투명 OLED 면광원 광 추출 향상 기술 (Enhancement of Light Extraction from Transparent OLED Lighting Panels)

  • We have investigated the light extraction efficiency of large-area OLED lighting panels with a microlens array (MLA) or external scattering layer (ESL) by ray tracing simulation. The application of MLA and ESL to transparent OLEDs (TOLEDs) with an auxiliary metal electrode is also studied. It is found that MLA shows higher light extraction efficiency, compared with ESL. However, we have demonstrated that ESL is more suitable for TOLEDs having dual-sided equal light emission. Namely, equal light emission from the front and rear surfaces of TOLED can be achieved by increasing the scattering particle density of ESL. To compensate for a loss in light emission induced by auxiliary metal electrode, we come out with an OLED structure partially covered with MLA at the outer surface of glass substrate, which is aligned with metal electrode. With this scheme, it is observed that the light extraction efficiency can be boosted more than 20% from opaque OLED and 50% from transparent OLED.

맞춤판재 용접용 3차원 비젼 감시기 개발 (Developement of 3-D Vision Monitoring System for Tailored Blank Welding)

  • A 3-D vision system is developed to evaluate blanks' line up and monitor gap and thickness difference between blanks in tailored blank welding system. A structured lighting method is used for 3-D vision recognition. Images of sheared portion in blanks are irregular according to roughness of blank surface, shape of sheared geometry and blurring. It is difficult to get accurate and reliable informations in the case of using binary image processing or contour detection techniques in real time for such images. We propoe a new energy integration method robust to blurring and changes of illumination. The method is computationally simple, and uses feature restoration concept, different to another digital image restoration methods which aim image itself restoration and may be used in conventional applications using structured line lighting technique. Experimental results show this system measuring repeatability is .+-. pixel for gap and thickness difference in static and dynamic tests. The data are expected to be useful for preview gap control.
