  • With the improvement of living standards, the ventilation for the mitigation of indoor or outdoor air-pollution problems has recently attracted a lot of attention. Consequently, the ventilation for the supply of outdoor fresh air into a room is treated as an important building-design factor. The ventilation is generally divided into the forced and natural types; here, the former can control the ventilation rate by using mechanical devices, but it has the disadvantages of the equipment costs, maintenance costs, and noise generation, while the latter is applied to most workshops due to the absence of noise and the low installation and maintenance costs. In this experimental study, the ventilation performance of a typical rotating-type natural ventilator, which is called a "wind turbine," was investigated with the outdoor-wind velocity and the indoor/outdoor-temperature difference. From the experiment results, it was confirmed that the temperature difference of $10^{\circ}C$ corresponds to the ventilation driving force with an outdoor-wind velocity of 1.0 m/s. Additionally, the intake-opening area of a building also exerts a great effect on the ventilation rates.

  • In this study performance evaluation of filtering system were made on the clean air supply system to show it's ability to eliminate the air contaminants. The evaluation was conducted inside the 3,200CMH scale wind tunnel and under the same environment that is effected by yellow dust and similar particle and gas phase contaminants in semi-conductor and FPDs industries. (1) The result of experimental for particle contaminants, the particle removing efficiency was 40% on condition that the air velocity is 2.5m/s, L/G ratio : 0.05, electrified voltage : (+)5.8kV with electric charger and (-)3.5kV with eliminator. (2) The gas phase removing efficiency for $NH_3$ : 80%, $SO_X$ : 70% and $NO_X$ : 40% on condition that the air velocity is 2.5m/s, L/G ratio : 0.05.

일개 실내수영장의 공기 중 염소 및 트리할로메탄의 노출평가 및 환기 효율 평가 (Assessment for Inhalation Exposure to Trihalomethanes (THMs) and Chroline and Efficiency of Ventilation for an Indoor Swimming Pool)

  • The objectives of this study were to evaluate the air quality surrounding an indoor swimming pool, to estimate the cancer risk based on the airborne exposure to trihalomethanes (THMs), and to examine the ventilation efficiency by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Chlorine and THMs were measured poolside, and in the staff room and reception area. The indoor swimming pool was modeled using the Airpak program, with ventilation drawings and actual survey data. Temperature, flow and mean age of the air were analyzed. Levels of chlorine poolside, and in the staff room, and reception area were $203\;{\mu}g/m^3$, $5\;{\mu}g/m^3$, and $10\;{\mu}g/m^3$, respectively. Chloroform was the dominant THM in all sampling sites and mean concentrations were $16.30\;{\mu}g/m^3$, $0.51\;{\mu}g/m^3$, and $0.06\;{\mu}g/m^3$ poolside, in the staff room and reception area, respectively. Bromodichloromethane and Dibromochloromethane levels were respectively estimated as $10.3\;{\mu}g/m^3$ and $1.7\;{\mu}g/m^3$ poolside, $1.3\;{\mu}g/m^3$ and $0.1\;{\mu}g/m^3$ in the staff room, and were not detected in the reception area. The cancer risks from inhalation exposure to THMs were estimated between $3.37{\times}10^{-7}$ and $1.84{\times}10^{-5}$. A short circulation phenomenon was observed from the supply air vents to the exhaust air vents located in the ceiling. A high temperature layer was formed within one meter of the ceiling, and a low temperature layer was formed under this layer due to the low velocity and high temperature of the supply air, and the improper locations of the supply air vents and exhaust air vents. The stagnation was evident at the above adult pool and the mean age of the air was 22 minutes. Disinfection by-products in the indoor swimming pool were present in higher concentrations than in the outdoor air. In order to increase the removal of pollutants, adjustment was required of the supply air volume and the supply/exhaust position.

  • In order to design a shear coaxial injector of solid particles with water, basic experiments on a particle laden jet are necessary. The purpose of the present study is to understand the effect of particle loading ratio on the particle spray characteristics (i.e. spreading angle, distribution of particle number density, velocity profiles, and particle developing region length). Hydro-reactive Al2O3 particles with a primary particle diameter of 35~50 ${\mu}m$ are used in this experiment. An automated particle feeder was designed to supply constant particle mass flowrates. Air is used as the carrier gas. To determine the air velocity at the orifice exit, tracers (aluminum oxide, 0.5~2 ${\mu}m$ primary diameter) are also supplied by a tracer feeder. A plain orifice type injector with 3 mm diameter, and 20 mm length was adopted. Particle image velocimetry is used to measure the mean and fluctuating velocity components along the axial and radial directions.

  • The atomization characteristics of the dual air supplying twin-fluid nozzle were investigated experimentally using PIV and PDA systems. The two-fluid nozzle is composed of three main parts: the feeding injector to supply fluid that is controlled by a PWM (pulse-width modulation) mode, the adaptor as a device with the ports for supplying the carrier and assist air and the main nozzle to produce the spray. The main nozzle has the swirl tip with four equally spaced tangential slots, which give the injecting fluid an angular momentum. The angle of the swirl tip varied with 0$^{\circ}$ 30$^{\circ}$, 60$^{\circ}$ and 90$^{\circ}$, and the ratios of carrier air to assist air and ALR(total air to liquid) were 0.55 and 1.23, respectively. The macroscopic behavior of the spray was investigated using PIV system, and the mean velocity, turbulent intensity and SMD distributions of the sprays were measured using PDA system. As the results, the mean axial velocity at the spray centerline decrease with the increase of the swirl angle. The turbulent intensities of the axial and radial velocity were increased with the increase of the swirl angle. The mean SMD (Sauter mean diameter) of the radial direction along the axial distance shows the lowest value at the swirl angle of 60$^{\circ}$.

단순 급수관로에서의 워터 햄머 현상에 관한 연구 (The Experimental Study of Water Hammer by Valve Closure in Water Supply Piping System)

  • This study is to investigate the pressure wave characteristics and the maximum pressure rise generated by instantaneous valve closure at the end of the straightening copper piping system. Experiments were conducted under the following conditions : initial pressure 1~5 bar, flow velocity 0.6~3.0 m/s and water temperature $20^{\circ}C$ . Results indicated that the peak pressure generated by quick valve closure reached Joukowsky's value. And we also found that the maximum pressure rise and the pressure history were depended on not only closing time but also flow velocity.

제연구역의 주요 매개 변수 및 누설 면적 변화를 고려한 차압 형성 관계 분석 (An Analysis on the Major Parameter and the Relations of Pressure Difference Effect of Leakage Area in the Smoke-Control Zone)

  • 본 연구에서 부속실 단독 가압 구조인 급기가압 제연설비의 성능 확보에 영향을 주는 주요 매개 변수를 분석하고 공급유량과 누설면적 변화에 따라서 풍도와 부속실 차압 형성 관계를 실험적으로 분석하였다. 이를 위해서 3층 규모의 총 10개의 구획공간으로 구성된 모형 구조물과 방화문의 개폐력 측정장치를 제작하였으며, 각 구획공간과 외기의 차압, 방연풍속을 측정하기 위한 제어 계측 장비를 구성하였다. 그 결과 댐퍼의 차압조절 범위가 45 Pa~55 Pa인 경우 공급유량과 부속실 차압 크기에 따라서 45 Pa 이하인 저압 영역, 45 Pa~55 Pa 구간인 차압조절 영역 그리고 55 Pa 이상인 과압 영역을 구분하였으며, 저압 영역에서는 부속실, 차압조절 영역에서는 부속실과 댐퍼 그리고 과압 영역 에서는 댐퍼의 누설면적이 차압 형성에 중요한 관계를 갖고 있는 것을 확인하였다.

지하역사 승강장 및 대합실 평상시 비상시 급·배기 환기 Large Eddy Simulation (LARGE EDDY SIMULATION OF ORDINARY & EMERGENCY VENTILATION FLOW IN UNDERGROUND SUBWAY STATION)

  • The turbulent flow behavior of air supply and exhaustion in the Shin-gum-ho subway station is analyzed for ordinary and emergency state. The depth of Shin-gum-ho station is 43.6m which consists of the island-type platform(8th floor in underground) and a two-story lobby (first & second floor in underground). An emergency stairway connects between the platform and the lobby. Ventilation operation mode for ordinary state is set up as a combination of air supply and exhaustion in the lobby and platform, while for emergency state it is set up as a full air supply in the lobby and a full exhaustion in the platform. The entire station is covered for simulation. The ventilation diffusers are modeled as 95 square shapes of $0.6m{\times}0.6m$ in the lobby and as 222 square shapes of $0.6m{\times}0.6m$ and 4 rectangular shapes of $1.2m{\times}0.8m$ in the platform. The total of 7.5million grids are generated and whole domain is divided to 22 blocks for MPI efficiency of calculation. Large eddy simulation(LES) is applied to solve the momentum equation and Smagorinsky model($C_s$=0.2) is used as SGS(subgrid scale) model. The time-averaged velocity fields are compared to experimental data and show a good agreement with it.

공조용 열교환기 증발관에서의 서리 발생에 관한 메커니즘의 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Frost Generation Mechanism from Evaporator Tube in Air Conditioning System)

  • 이 실험의 목적은 튜브형 증발관에서 입구 공기 속도, 온도와 상대 습도에 따른 서리층 생성의 비교 검토에 있다. 입구 공기 속도와 온도는 각각 $0.3^m/_s,\;0.6^m/_s,\;0.9^m/_s,\;15^{\circ}C,\;20^{\circ}C,\;25^{\circ}C$로 하였고, 상대 습도는 $70\%\~90\%$로 하였다. 그리고 일반적인 공조기용 열교환기에서의 서리발생 현상을 파악하기 위하여 냉각튜브의 온도를 $-15^{\circ}C$로 일정하게 유지하였다. 그 결과 공급공기의 상대습도, 유속 및 온도가 증가할수록 서리 생성량이 증가함을 알 수 있었다.

대심도 지하역사 승강장 및 대합실 평상시/비상시 급·배기 풍량에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study for the Capacity of Ordinary and Emergency Ventilation System in Deeply Underground Subway Station)

  • 서울 지하철 지하역사의 평상시 및 비상시(화재시)의 급배기 효율을 조사하기 위하여 대표적인 대심도역사인 신금호 역사를 선정하여 설계 용량 대비 실제 용량을 계측하여 비교분석 하였다. 신금호 역사는 심도가 43.6m(서울에서 3번째 깊이) 이며, 지하8층의 섬식 승강장과 지하 1,2층의 대합실로 이루어져 있다. 승강장과 대합실을 연결하는 통로는 1개의 비상계단을 사용하도록 되어있다. 실험을 위하여 열선유속계, capture hood, 풍향풍속계 및 데이터 수집장치 등을 이용하여 자동 계측하였다. 실험 결과 평상시 대합실에서는 급기량 및 배기량이 설계치에 비하여 실측치가 각각 34% 및 46% 감소된 환기량을 보였으며, 승강장에서는 급기량 및 배기량이 각각 66% 및 38% 감소된 환기량을 보였다. 비상시에서는 대합실에서 급기량이 42% 감소, 승강장에서는 배기량이 28% 감소된 것으로 조사되었다. 따라서 평상시에는 역사에서의 공기질 악화 및 비상시에는 제연능력 약화가 예상된다.
