This study was conducted to construct basic data for the selection of elite cows by analyzing the estimated breeding value (EBV) and accuracy using the pedigree of Hanwoo cows in Gyeongnam. The phenotype trait used in the analysis are the carcass weight (CWT), eye muscle area (EMA), backfat thickness (BFT) and marbling score (MS). The pedigree of the test group and reference group was collected to build a pedigree structure and a numeric relationship matrix (NRM). The EBV, genetic parameters and accuracy were estimated by applying NRM to the best linear unbiased prediction (BLUP) multiple-trait animal model of the BLUPF90 program. Looking at the pedigree structure of the test group, there were a total of 2,371 cows born between 2003 to 2009, of these 603 cows had basic registration (25%), 562 cows had pedigree registration (24%) and 1,206 cows had advanced registration (51%). The proportion of pedigree registered cows was relatively low but it gradually increased and reached a point of 20,847 cows (68%) between 2010 to 2017. Looking at the change in the EBV, the CWT improved from 4.992 kg to 9.885 kg, the EMA from 0.970 ㎠ to 2.466 ㎠, the BFT from -0.186 mm to -0.357 mm, and the MS from 0.328 to 0.559 points. As a result of genetic parameter estimation, the heritability of CWT, EMA, BFT, and MS were 0.587, 0.416, 0.476, and 0.571, respectively, and the accuracy of those were estimated to be 0.559, 0.551, 0.554, and 0.558, respectively. Selection of superior genetic breed and efficient improvement could be possible if cow ability verification is implemented by using the accurate pedigree of each individual in the farms.
Existing arterial link travel time estimation methods relying on either aggregate point-based or individual section-based traffic data have their inherent limitations. This paper demonstrates the utility of data fusion for improving arterial link travel time estimation. If the data describe traffic conditions, an operator wants to know whether the situations are going better or worse. In addition, some traffic information providing strategies require predictions of what would be the values of traffic variables during the next time period. In such situations, it is necessary to use a prediction algorithm in order to extract the average trends in traffic data or make short-term predictions of the control variables. In this research. a multi-step ahead prediction algorithm using Data fusion was developed to predict a link travel time. The algorithm performance were tested in terms of performance measures such as MAE (Mean Absolute Error), MARE(mean absolute relative error), RMSE (Root Mean Square Error), EC(equality coefficient). The performance of the proposed algorithm was superior to the current one-step ahead prediction algorithm.
Tetragonia tetragonides is a medicinal plant native to ocean sand soil of southern provinces and has significant effects on the prevention and curing of gastroenteric disorders. Despite of its popularity, supply of the plant has never met the level of demand because of the absence of an adequate culturing method. The present study, thereby, was conducted for classifying the plants with geographically different characteristics, studying growth habits, developing a new culturing method and establishing a large scale propagation system of selected superior individual plants. The study was also aimed for revealing optimum conditions for seed treatment, fertilization, and efficient culturing system and thereby, for utilizing the plant as a new income source for rural communities. The seed was elongated with size of 2.6 mm (width) ${\times}$ 1.8 mm (length). No difference in seed size was observed depending on different inhabitate. Each flower produced about 4.5~4.8 seeds. Germination rate was high for seeds matured for 40 days after fertilization, but deceased to 50% for seeds matured only for 20 or 30 days. Seed dormancy lasted 6 months and seed storage at humid $5^{\circ}C$ facilitated germination. Mechanical obstruct of seed germination was due to seed coat and removal of seed coat enhanced the germination rate. Optimum temp. for seed storage was $5^{\circ}C$, and high germination rate was maintained for 350 days. However, for stratification condition or at room temperature, germination was significantly reduced as storage time increased Optimum treatment of plant growth regulators was soaking in $GA_3$ 250 mg/L for 1 hr. The priming treatment with 50 mM $Ca(NO_3)_2$ at $20^{\circ}C$ for two days improved the seed germination with 10% compared to non-treated control. The treatment of 20% NaOCl for 3 hr. improved the seed germination rate up to 10% and 1 day ahead.
In the wireless communication systems, the power consumption of a mobile device is very important issue due to its battery limitations. Hence most of the standards for wireless networks including a mobile WiMAX system are supporting their own power saving mode in way that a mobile device is able to reduce its energy usage while in the mode. However, those standards just define the arrangement of special time intervals, called a paging listening interval, during which the device needs to receive the paging-related control messages, and they do not specify how to effectively reduce the power in many different network environments. This means the amount of power spent by the device is very dependent on the implementations of individual device-vendors, and undesirable paging loss may happen according to the channel conditions. To reduce unnecessary power usage and the risk of paging loss, this paper proposes the effective frequency/BS selection algorithm applicable to a mobile device operating in the power saving mode, which serves the device with better BS based on the tracking for channel variation. This algorithm consists of the channel estimation phase during each paging listening interval, the tracking phase for the measured results, the frequency reselection phase based on the tracking activity, and the preferred BS reselection phase. Thus the proposed method can improve the paging performance while the device is moving in the network. Also the simulation result shows that the presented scheme is superior to other candidates in energy efficiency due to the channel-adaptive frequency/BS selection.

The coat protein gene (AF296280) of the Korean isolate Potato leafroll virus (PLRV) was cloned and the open reading frame (627 bp) was transformed into potato (Solanum tuberosum cv. Superior). Out of seventeen individual transgenic lines, five lines were identified to confer resistance to PLRV through the five generation's selection program in the greenhouse as well as isolated trial field. Successful introduction and genetic stability of coat protein gene in the genome of potato were confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), Southern blot hybridization and northern blot hybridization. Some of the transgenic lines were highly resistant to PLRV but did not show any resistance to less homologous Potato virus Y (PVY). Our results suggest that the resistance to PLRV is due to homology dependent gene silencing by sense strand coat protein gene. In addition, the results of field test through five generations showed that there were no significant differences comparing to nontransgenic potatoes in the morphological aspect of shoot as well as tuber, Ho remarkable differences were also observed in the major agronomic characters and yields except for the resistance to PLRV.

In this paper we address the MBR-safe property of Piecewise Aggregation Approximation(PAA), and propose an of efficient subsequence matching method based on the MBR-safe PAA. A transformation is said to be MBR-safe if a low-dimensional MBR to which a high- dimensional MBR is transformed by the transformation contains every individual low-dimensional sequence to which a high-dimensional sequence is transformed. Using an MBR-safe transformation we can reduce the number of lower-dimensional transformations required in similar sequence matching, since it transforms a high-dimensional MBR itself to a low-dimensional MBR directly. Furthermore, PAA is known as an excellent lower-dimensional transformation single its computation is very simple, and its performance is superior to other transformations. Thus, to integrate these advantages of PAA and MBR-safeness, we first formally confirm the MBR-safe property of PAA, and then improve subsequence matching performance using the MBR-safe PAA. Contributions of the paper can be summarized as follows. First, we propose a PAA-based MBR-safe transformation, called mbrPAA, and formally prove the MBR-safeness of mbrPAA. Second, we propose an mbrPAA-based subsequence matching method, and formally prove its correctness of the proposed method. Third, we present the notion of entry reuse property, and by using the property, we propose an efficient method of constructing high-dimensional MBRs in subsequence matching. Fourth, we show the superiority of mbrPAA through extensive experiments. Experimental results show that, compared with the previous approach, our mbrPAA is 24.2 times faster in the low-dimensional MBR construction and improves subsequence matching performance by up to 65.9%.
Purpose - Numerous studies have tried to assess the role of a warranty as an explanatory instrument for product quality. While one study argued that manufacturers signal their superior quality to consumers by extending the duration of a warranty, quality is not necessarily related to warranty and a warranty for a short duration is a sign of high product quality. However, there are limitations to measuring product quality in terms of a single variable such as a warranty. Some other studies have evaluated the influence of brand power or value and price on the supposed quality of a product while the influence of warranty was found to be insignificant. Research design, data, methodology - The study analyzes the influence of brand power and the country of origin effect on consumers' perception of product quality in line with warranty and establishes a priority strategy. Especially, consumer experience has a significant influence on state of the art technology products like applied home electronics as these goods are generally quite expensive and consumers expend significant energy in purchasing them, so the associated warranty and brand can have a critical role in the decision making process. The price of the product was excluded in this discussion as it continually varies with the market share of the product. Results - The results of the analysis are as follows: First, each of the factors such as the standard of the warranty, brand power, and country of origin effect influences the degree of satisfaction of an individual. Second, the factors brand power and quality of the warranty interact both complementarily and synergistically at a time, depending on the brand power. As brand power is more significant, the degree of satisfaction is greater in case of products with low quality warranty compared to those with high quality warranty. Third, the brand power and country of origin effect present a complementary interaction. Fourth, the country of origin effect and quality of a warranty interact synergistically. Conclusions - Thus, the higher the quality of warranty, greater is the increment in the degree of satisfaction. The comprehensive study on the effect of the country of origin on the purchase decision process and the degree of satisfaction compared to the other elements shows that in case of Japanese and Korean markets the brand power of a company is desirable in sustaining the quality of warranty to the industrial average. Also, there is no significant improvement in the perceived quality of the product when the quality of the warranty is lowered. Therefore, the warranty effect diminishes when the value of the brand is known, while it perishes when both the brand power and the country of origin effect are strong enough.
Depth of prostate volume from the skin can vary due to intra-fractional and inter-fractional movements, which may result in dose reduction to the target volume. Therefore we evaluated the feasibility of automated depth determination-based adaptive proton therapy to minimize the effect of inter-fractional movements of the prostate. Based on the center of mass method, using three fiducial gold markers in the prostate target volume, we determined the differences between the planning and treatment stages in prostate target location. Thirty-eight images from 10 patients were used to assess the automated depth determination method, which was also compared with manually determined depth values. The mean differences in prostate target location for the left to right (LR) and superior to inferior (SI) directions were 0.9 mm and 2.3 mm, respectively, while the maximum discrepancies in location in individual patients were 3.3 mm and 7.2 mm, respectively. In the bilateral beam configuration, the difference in the LR direction represents the target depth changes from 0.7 mm to 3.3 mm in this study. We found that 42.1%, 26.3% and 2.6% of thirty-eight inspections showed greater than 1 mm, 2 mm and 3 mm depth differences, respectively, between the planning and treatment stages. Adaptive planning based on automated depth determination may be a solution for inter-fractional movements of the prostate in proton therapy since small depth changes of the target can significantly reduce target dose during proton treatment of prostate cancer patients.
The orbicularis oris muscle (OOM) is a very important muscle that originate from the second branchial arch and is innervated by the facial nerve. The aim of this study was to elucidate distribution types of two muscle fibers that composing OOM by using enzyme-histochemical examinations and tried to make a basis for a clinical application. The fresh frozen tissues from the superior and inferior portions of the OOM were taken from post mortem 65-year-old Korean male adult. Total five different sagittal sections were used on the midline of the philtrum, the middle portion of lower lip, the mouth corner, and each midlateral side of upper and lower mouth. We used enzyme-histochemical staining such as Periodic Acid-Schiff (PAS), Succinic Dehydrogenase (SDHase), reduced Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide-Tetrazolium Reductase (NADH-TR), Adenosine Triphosphatase (ATPase) in pH 9.4, 4.6 and 4.3, and Modified Gomori Trichrome. There were about 30.24 % type 1 muscle fiber and 65.40 % type 2 muscle fiber in the midline of the philtrum (p < 0.05). Enzyme-histochemical staining is very useful and innovative method to elucidate characteristics of muscle fibers. We expect that chiloplasty and reconstruction of the lip portions for cleft lip patients, based on these results, are better to recovery function and aesthetic. However, we have some problems as an intramuscular variability and the inter-individual variation etc. Therefore we have to make progress these studies continuously to overcome these problems.
