  • High temperature superconducting films of $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ were fabricated on the (100) single crystal faces of YSZ (yttria stabilized zirconia) and SrTi$O_3$ by aerosol spray using ultrasonic atomization. The superconducting phase was formed by a three-step process: (a) spraying of a stoichiometric solution of nitrates of yttrium, barium, and copper on heated substrates kept at 250$^{\circ}C$, (b) preheating of the sprayed films in air at 550$^{\circ}C$, and (e) sintering of the films in flowing oxygen at 950$^{\circ}C$, followed by furnace cooling. Resistances of the films were measured by the dc four-probe method and superconductivity was confirmed above the liquid nitrogen temperature.

  • YBCO coated conductor, also called the 2nd generation high temperature superconducting wire, consists of oxide multi-layer hetero-epitaxial thin films. Pulsed laser deposition (PLD) is one of many film deposition methods used to make coated conductor, and is the one known to be the best to make superconducting layer so far. As a part of the effort to make long length coated conductor, the optimum deposition condition of YBCO film on single crystal substrate (SrTiO3) was investigated using PLD. Substrate temperature, oxygen partial pressure, and laser fluence were varied to find the best combination to grow high quality YBCO film.

  • We present terahertz optical properties of $GdBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ (GdBCO) superconducting thin films. GdBCO films with a thickness of about 105 nm were grown on a $LaAlO_3$ (LAO) single crystal substrate using a conventional pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique. Using an Ar ion milling system, the thickness of the GdBCO film was reduced to 58 nm, and its surface was also smoothened. Terahertz (THz) transmission spectra through two different GdBCO films are measured over the range between 0.2 and 1.5 THz using THz time domain spectroscopy. Interestingly, the THz transmission of the thinner GdBCO film has been increased to six times larger than that of the thicker one, while the thinner film is still maintaining its superconducting property at below 90 K.

  • The ceramic high transition temperature superconducting materials present many interesting characteristics that will be analysed from two points of view: physical behavior, and chemical aspects. From the first point of view, these materials display an enormous variety of different physical properties. At low doping levels the normal state shows antiferromagnetism and insulating behavior. At intermediate doping levels, an anomalous metallic state appears and, the optimum Tc in the superconducting state is generated. With increasing doping a normal metallic state develops and superconductivity starts to disappear. Many of the physical phenomena that describe the overall behavior when doping levels are changed will be discussed. From the poing of view of the chemical aspects. we well discuss some of the problems involved in the methods of preparation with particular emphasis on defects, crystal structures, critical currrents, and applications in technology.

  • Bi based superconducting thin films were fabricated by 4-target RF magnetron sputtering using the method of controlling the on-off time. These thin films showed better crystal structures. The ratio of Cu/Bi decreased but the critical temperature increased with increasing the temperature of the substrate. High temperature phase low temperature of the substrate. High temperature phase low temperature phase and semiconducting phase can be formed by controlling the on-off time of the shutter respectively.

  • We have synthesized La doped $CaFe_2As_2$ single crystals with Sn flux in an evacuated quartz ampule. Doping and pressure effects on the magnetic and superconducting properties of the under-doped $Ca_{1-x}La_xFe_2As_2$ (x=0.08, 0.1) were studied by measuring electrical resistivity under quasi-hydrostatic pressure up to 21 kbar. Magnetic transition temperatures for all studied concentrations were sharply suppressed with slight amplitude of pressure, less than 3 kbar, while superconducting transition temperatures were robust against pressure. In this communication, we report temperature-pressure phase diagram for the La-doped $CaFe_2As_2$ single crystals.

  • At recent time, superconducting technology makes it possible to develop various devices using strong magnetic fields. As increasing with devices using high magnetic fields, magnetic shielding technology is essential in order to get high efficiency. Therefore it is necessary to establish production method and clear characteristics of suitable shielding materials. Usually, ferromagnetic metal has been used for shielding of high magnetic fields up to the present time. Instead of heavy ferromagnetic metal, we can acquire better upgraded shielding system by using of very light superconducting thin film that has a perfect diamagnetism. We would like to study basic characteristics of NbTi thin film produced by RF sputtering, investigated morphology and crystal structure of NbTi thin film by SEM and XRD, identified superconductivity measuring by critical current.

  • The high-$T_c$ superconducting phase, $YBa_2Cu_3O_x$, was deposited on the single crystal MgO substrate, using a liquid aerosol feed method in a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition(PECVD) reactor. The effect of the plasma distribution depending on the design of a reactor was studied by the analysis of the microstructures of thin films. The particles landed were frequently observed on the films and the two causes that were responsible for the particle deposition were explained. The particles were deposited by the unstable and non-uniform plasma and the low evaporation rate of the precursors. Also, the thin film deposition rate decreased significantly as the distance between the evaporating location and the substrate increased.

  • Single crystal of Li2Cu1-xMxO4 (M=Ni, Zn) are promising as a substrate to realize superconducting electronic devices. The distribution coefficients of Ni and Zn to the Cu site in La2CuO4 (LCO) were estimated by the zone melting technique to grow high quality single crystals of La2Cu1-xMxO4(M=Ni, Zn). The distribution coefficient value of Ni was estimated to be 4.2 and that of Zn was estimated to be 0.66, respectively. Suitable solvent compositions were determined using these values to grow single crystals by he traveling floating zone (TSFZ) method. Single crystal of LCO, La2Cu1-xMxO4(M=Ni(x=0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04), Zn(x=0.01, 0.02, 0.03) of high homogeneity were grown. The behaviors of the magnetization of these as-grown crystals do not indicate superconductivity except LCO. Ni or Zn substitution can make LCO non superconductor. This fact suggest that single crystals substituted by Ni or Zn are useful as substrate crystals.

  • The superconducting phase, $YBa_{2}Cu_{3}O_{x}$ (YBCO), was in-situ deposited on the single crystal MgO substrates, using an aerosol decomposition process in a cold plasma reactor. The solubility and decomposition temperature of the chemical precursors, and the vapor pressures of the solvents, were determined to be the factors crucial to achieving a stoichiometric, crystalline YBCO phase. The deposition parameters for the YBCO phase were 0.3 to 2.7 kPa for the oxygen partial pressure and $800^{\circ}C$ to $940^{\circ}C$ for the substrate temperature. The optimum deposition conditions for the YBCO phase were observed along the CuO decomposition line.
