Fatigue Fracture Behavior in Super-Rapid induction Quenched Spheroidal Graphite Cast Iron (고주파유도로를 이용한 초급속열처리 구상흑연주철의 피로파괴특성)

  • Rotary bending fatigue tests were carried out to investigate the fatigue behavior of high performance ductile cast iron experienced super rapid induction heat treatment. The effect of super rapid induction treatment on fatigue limit was experimentally examined with the special focus on the variation surface microstructure and the fatigue crack initiation and propagation through fractography. Main results obtained are as follows. By super rapid induction treatment in FCD500, the martensite structure obtained through conventional quenching heat treatment was confirmed on the specimen surface. The fatigue crack initiation in the hardened surface layer was restricted by the martensite structure and compressive residual stress. Thus, it could be interpreted that the initiation stress would be increased by the improvement of surface structure. The fatigue crack propagation in the hardened layer was retarded by the presence of the globular shape martensite around the graphite nodule and compressive residual stress. The crack propagation path has shown zigzag pattern in the hardened surface layer.

  • At the time of entering the super-aged society, the health problem of the elderly is becoming more prominent due to the rapid digital era caused by COVID-19, but the gap between welfare budgets and welfare benefits according to regional characteristics is still not narrowed and there is a significant difference in emergency medical access. In response, this study proposes an ICT-based New Normal Smart Care System (NNSCS) to bridge the gap I n health and medical problems. This is an integrated system model that links the elderly themselves to health care, self-diagnosis, disease prediction and prevention, and emergency medical services. The purpose is to apply location-based technology and motion recognition technology under smartphones and smartwatches (wearable) environments to detect health care and risks, predict and diagnose diseases using health and medical big data, and minimize treatment latency. Through the New Normal Smart Care System (NNSCS), which links health care, prevention, and rapid emergency treatment with easy and simple access to health care for the elderly, it aims to minimize health gaps and solve health problems for the elderly.

  • The effect of aging treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of super duplex stainless steel with W was investigated. The phase was precipitated mainly at the early stage of aging and a lower aging temperature under $750^{\circ}C$, but the phase was formed after long-term aging treatment between $600^{\circ}C$ and $900^{\circ}C$. The volume fraction of the phase increased with aging temperature up to $750^{\circ}C$ and then decreased up to $900^{\circ}C$. With an increase in the aging time, the volume fraction phase at the early stage of aging increased slightly, and then increased rapidly beyond a certain time. The rapid increase in the tensile strength and hardness and decrease in the elongation and impact toughness were measured with aging temperatures up to $750^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, the tensile strength and hardness decreased slightly, and the elongation and Charpy impact toughness were unchanged with aging temperatures over $750^{\circ}C$. The tensile strength and hardness increased rapidly at the early stage of aging, and then increased slowly beyond a certain time. The elongation and Charpy impact toughness decreased rapidly at the early stage of aging, and then remained unchanged beyond a certain time. The phase that formed at the early stage of aging and the lower aging temperature had a considerable effect on the elongation and Charpy impact toughness of the super duplex stainless steel with W.

  • The objective of this investigation was to evaluate applicability of precoat filtration that can be substituted for rapid sand filter of conventional water treatment system(CWTS). Precoat filter used in this experiment are candle filter. Element disk of candle are pore size $10{\mu}m(R),\;20{\mu}m(B)$ And diatomaceous earth are cake pore size $3.5{\mu}m$(Standard Super- Cel; A), $7{\mu}m$(Hyflo Super-Cel; B) and $17{\mu}m$(Celite 545RV; C). $2kg/m^2$ diatomaceous earth is used for precoating, it coated candle in $5{\sim}6mm$ thickness. 1. Al adsorption dosages by diatomaceous earth used in experimental we Hyflo Super-Cel 0.843mg/g, Standard Super-Cel 0.782 mg/g and Celite 545RV 0.766 mg/g. 2. Filtrate of precoat filter during 60min are R-C combination 20.7($m^3/m^2$)>B-C 18.3($m^3/m^2$)>B-B 15.0($m^3/m^2$)> R-B 12.9($m^3/m^2$)> R-A 11,093($l/m^2$). 3. Water quality of precoat filter effluent are thus. $KMnO_4$ consumption are $1.10{\sim}2.20mg/l$, removal rate are $30.9{\sim}65.6\%$. They are R-A 1.10(mg/l)(removal rate $65.6\%$). R-C(2.20 mg/l)(removal rate $30.9\%$). 4. $Al^{3+}$ are not detected with all combination, removal rate $100\%$. 5. Considering water quality and flux, continued running time of R-A combination is 7 hr. Accumulated filtrate are $74.4 m^3/m^2$, average flux is $177.2 l/m^2{\cdot}min$. And filtrate per diatomaceous earth 1g are 37.2 l. 6. R-A effluent's water quality are $KMnO_4$ Consumption 1.10(mg/l), DOC 1.161 mg/1, Al 0.0 mg/1, $UV_{254}$ 0.016/cm, Turbidity 0.1(NTU). R-A combination is suitable to precoat filtration for the settling basin effluent treatment.

Formation of Magnetic Graphene Nanosheets for Rapid Enrichment and Separation of Methyl Orange from Water

  • Magnetic-graphene nanosheets have been synthesized via a simple effective chemical precipitation method followed by heat treatment. The composite nanosheets are super paramagnetic at room temperature and can be separated by an external magnetic field. The prepared magnetic-graphene nanosheets were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman spectroscopy, and BET surface area analysis. The results demonstrated the successful attachment of iron oxide nanoparticles to graphene nanosheets. It was found that the attached nanoparticles were mainly $Fe_3O_4$. The magnetic-graphene nanosheets showed near complete methyl orange removal within 10 mintues and would be practically usable for methyl orange separation from water.

Excessive Water Tolerance Test by Waterlogging Treatments on the Indian Corn Accessions (침수처리를 통한 인도 수집 옥수수의 내습성 검정)

  • This research was carried out to excessive water tolerance test among corn accessions collected from India to breed corn cultivars targeting India market. The corn accessions were 20 Inbred lines and cultivars from India as well as Korean cultivars Gwangpyungok and Chaloksusu. Excessive water tolerance test was done in the green house by immerging the pots containing corn seedlings for two weeks. Then, the plant heights were measured to compare the control plants that were not grown in the immerging state. The results showed that seven accessions of high tolerance in flooding; H2(92.9%), H18(88.8%), CN114A(98.1%), CN351A(94.3%), Super900M(95.3%), P3394(98.8%), 31N27(96.7%) in which the percent is comparison to the control plants. Whereas nine accessions showed high damage by immerging; H1(78.9%), H8(73.4%), H10(77.1%), H19(79.0%), H26(74.1%), H31(75.7%), H34(77.5%), H36(77.4%), H40(74.6%). However, the reduction on the contents of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, carotenoids in leaf revealed contrast results to the flooding tolerance. Particularly, H36($7.249{\mu}g{\cdot}mg^{-1}$) and H40($7.642{\mu}g{\cdot}mg^{-1}$) showed rapid reduction in the chlorophyll a content during the flooding treatment. Whereas two Indian commercial varieties 37N27($0.630{\mu}g{\cdot}mg^{-1}$) and P3394($1.208{\mu}g{\cdot}mg^{-1}$) showed slight reduction. The reduction of chlorophyll a and carotenoid contents was positively correlated during the excessive water stress.

  • The Korean Pharmacist Law has limited the sales of medicine to pharmacies. This has caused difficulty in purchasing medicine late at night or on holidays, which has limited the range of customers' selections and accelerated customers' discomfort, accordingly. Also, the rapid progress of aging has quickly boosted medical expenses for seniors, and has served as a factor that aggravates the budget of national medical insurance. Meanwhile, advanced countries, including the USA and Japan, have allowed the sales of general medicine, of which the safety and efficacy have been tested, in general retail stores such as convenience stores or super markets from the perspective of supporting self-medication. In particular, Japan, which has a strong tendency of pursuing safety in the world, diversified sales channels for general medicine in order to control quickly rising medical expenses. As a result, Japan has achieved the effect of easing various regulations as follows in the economic and social fields. First, the increasing distribution channels of general medicine from pharmacies to general retail stores provoked a potential demand, which also expanded related markets. Second, the competition between sales channels resulted in the reduction of the price of medicine. Third, the growing sales channels of medicine have extended the options of consumers and, subsequently, the convenience in the use of consumers has increased. Fourth, the creation of a competitive environment owing to the diversification of sales channels has accelerated an effort to enhance corporate competitiveness. Fifth, the foundation of enhancing the financial soundness of medical expenses has been prepared through the formation of a self-medication environment. In 2000, the Korean population aged 65 or over exceeded 7%, and it is anticipated to be over 14% by 2018; thus, the increase of national medical expenses will be sped up. As a way of being prepared for the era of aging, we, just as other advanced countries, need to create a self-treatment environment by diversifying the sellers of general medicine, and, thus, reduce spending on personal medical expenses, enhance the financial soundness of national medical insurance, and, further, promote the welfare of consumers.
