Supercapacitor of Auxiliary Electric Power Source in Industrial Safety for High Output (고출력용 산업안전 보조전원의 Supercapacitor)

  • In the electrode fabrication of unit cell, it was ascertained that electrochemical characteristics were greatly increased with 90 wt.% of BP-20, 5 wt.% of Super P and 5 wt.% of mixed binder [P(VdF-co-HFP) : PVP =7 : 3] The self-discharge of unit cell showed that diffusion process was controlled by the ion concentration difference of initial electrolyte due to the characteristics of Electric Double Layer Capacitor (EDLC) charged by ion adsorption in the beginning, but this by current leakage through the double-layer at the electrode/electrolyte interface had a minor effect and voltages of curves were remained constant regardless of electrode material. The electrochemical characteristics of 2.3 V/3,000 F grade EDLC were as follows: 0.35 m of DC-ESR (100 A discharge), 0.14 mof AC-ESR (AC amplitude 100 mV), 2.80 Wh/kg (3.73 Wh/L) of energy density and 4.64 kW /kg (6.19 kW/L) of power density. Power output was compatible with electric vehicle applications, uninterrupted power supply and engine starter, in due consideration of Ragone relations.

  • This paper proposes the integration of photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage systems for sustained power generation. In this proposed system, whenever the PV system cannot completely meet load demands, the super capacitor provides power to meet the remaining load. A power management strategy is designed for the proposed system to manage power flows between PV array systems and supercapacitors (SC). The main task of this study was to design PV systems with storage strategies including MPPT with direct control and an advanced DC-link controller and to analyze dynamic model proposed for a PV-SC hybrid power generation system. In this paper, the simulation models for the hybrid energy system are developed using Matlab/Simulink, SimPowerSystems and Matlab/Stateflow tool. This is the key innovative contribution of the research paper. The system performances are verified by carrying out simulation studies using practical load demand profile and real weather data.

  • In this paper a power conditioning system suitable for the fuel cell powered off-road vehicle is proposed. The proposed system employs a Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell stack combined with boost converter, a super capacitor module combined with hi-directional buck-boost converter, a 4-quadrant DC chopper and a permanent magnet DC motor. The momentary overload condition occurring during the motor starting is handled by the energy stored in the supercapacitor module. Also, the regenerative energy can be stored in the supercapacitor module by operating the system in either buck or boost mode. This capability gives the system designer the higher flexibility in designing the system and assures the lower cost of the system. The validity and feasibility of the proposed system is proven by the computer simulation.

  • 기존 이동 트레이의 경우 모터를 구동하기 위해 외부 전원장치가 필요하고 지속적인 유지보수가 필요한 문제점이 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 외부 전원 장치가 아닌 발전기 바퀴를 통해 배터리를 충전하여 3배 이상 승압 가능한 Boost Converter로 모터를 구동한다. 하지만 모터 기동 시 필요한 순간적인 큰 전류를 배터리에서 공급하기 때문에 배터리의 수명이 감소되는 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 3배 이상 승압이 가능하면서 배터리 부담을 줄이는 Super Cap. String을 사용하여 순간적으로 필요한 큰 전류를 공급하는 Boost Converter를 제안한다. 이를 이론적, 실험적 분석을 통해 그 타당성을 검증한다.

  • A wind power system with squirrel-cage induction generator has irregular change of output power according to the sudden change of wind speed. This paper describes the development of a active and reactive power compensator, which is composed of a 3-phase inverter and a bidirectional DC/DC converter with super-capacitor. The operational characteristic was analyzed through simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC and experimental works with a scaled model. The developed system can continuously compensate the active power change with energy storage and the reactive power change with 3-phase inverter.

  • 전기추진선박은 디젤엔진과 프로펠러의 회전축이 기계적으로 연결된 기존의 선박과 달리 엔진의 기계적 에너지를 전기 에너지로 변환하여 전동기 회전을 통해 추진력을 얻는 선박으로서 시추선, 군함, OSV(Offshore Support Vessel)등 높은 조종성능이 요구되는 선종에 주로 적용되고 있다. 이러한 선종은 추진력을 얻는데 가장 큰 전력을 사용하므로 날씨에 따른 전력부하량의 변동이 크다. 본 논문에서는 슈퍼커패시터로 구성된 전력버퍼모듈을 이용하여 전기추진선박의 효율적인 전력 운용 전략을 제안한다. 추진전동기의 VFD(Variable Frequency Drive)의 직류단을 전력버퍼모듈로 통합하여 각 전동기의 보조전력으로 활용함으로써 부하변동에 빠르게 대응할 수 있으며, 주 전원의 느린 응답성을 보상하여 조종성능을 향상시킬 수 있다. 제안된 전력버퍼모듈은 시뮬레이션을 통해 그 유용성을 검증하였다.

  • This paper describes operational analysis results of the DC micro-grid using detailed model of distributed generation. Detailed model of wind power generation, photo-voltaic generation, fuel-cell generation was implemented with the user-defined model of PSCAD/EMTDC software that is coded with C-language. The operation analysis was carried out using PSCAD/EMTDC software, in which the power circuit is implemented by built-in model and the controller is modelled by user-defined model that is also coded with C-language. Various simulation results confirm that the DC micro-grid can operate without any problem in both the interconnected mode and the islanded mode. The operation analysis result confirms that the DC micro-grid make it feasible to provide power to the load stably. And it can be utilize to develop the actual system design and building.

  • Using ab initio density functional calculations, we investigate the structural and electronic properties of porous schwarzite structures formed by $sp^2$ carbon minimal surfaces with negative Gaussian curvature. We calculate the equilibrium geometries, elastic properties and electronic structure of two systems with cubic unit cells containing 152 and 200 carbon atoms, which are metallic and very rigid. The porous schwarzite structure can be efficiently doped by electron donors as well as accepors, making it a promising candidate for the next generation of alkali ion batteries. Furthermore, the schwarzite structures can be magnetic when doped and thus act as arrays of interconnected quantum spin dots. We also propose that two interpenetrating schwarzite structures be used as a ultimate super-capacitor.

  • 자립 운전시 전력조절기는 일반적으로 태양광 발전에서 사용을 할 경우 부하에 의해 출력이 결정되어 최대전력 추종을 할 수 없는 구조로 되어있다. 본 연구에서는 자립 운전시의 태양광 발전시스템이 안정적인 최대전력 추종을 할 수 있도록 에너지 저장장치가 결합된 구조를 제안하였다. 이러한 구조에서는 태양광 발전의 전력 손실을 줄이고 또한 태양광 발전 전력이 부족할 경우에서도 부하 측의 안정적인 동작을 보장하기 위하여 에너지 저장장치와 DC-DC 양방향 컨버터를 이용한다. 에너지 저장장치의 한 예로 슈퍼커패시터를 충 방전함으로써 태양광 발전 에너지에 의한 안정적인 출력을 낼 수 있고, 태양광 발전 전력의 효율적인 사용을 위한 전력조절 시스템의 아키텍처를 제안하고자 한다.

  • This paper presents the power management strategies for a compound hybrid excavator. The compound hybrid excavator has been replaced the hydraulic swing motor to the electric swing motor. This excavator requires a proper control algorithm to regulate the energy flow between the mechanical coupling and the electric devices. The controller should improve fuel economy and maintain the super capacitor voltage within a proper range. A thermostat controller and ECMS controller are designed such that these objectives can be achieved. The thermostat controller regulates the power of the engine-assist motor on the basis of the super capacitor voltage, and the ECMS controller determines it using the real-time fuel minimization strategy based on the concept of equivalent fuel. Simulation results showed that by using the hybrid excavator, the fuel economy becomes about 20% higher than that obtained using the conventional excavator and that the ECMS controller outperforms the thermostat controller.
