This study aims at defining the meaning of Pobeckchuck in the historical view-point, which appeared in the History of Joseon Dynasty, regarding the periods from the ruling period of Sunjo to that of Sunjong as the latter part of history. Pobeckchuck used in King Sejong was redressed in accordance with the measurement in the Kyeonggukdadejeon(code), in which time one Pobeckchuck was 46.80cm long. It is known that Juchuck, Hwangjongchuck, Youngjochuck, Joraegichuck etc. which had been used in the ruling period of Sejong Dynasty, were used till the period of Youngjo. Also, the document shows that in the 12th ruling period of Sunjo, Pobeckchuck was used for measurement, and in the 20th ruling period of Sunjo, newly-made ruler was only used for the measurement of fields, but no more details about how long it was. But according to the document complied at that time, one Pobeckchuck was 46.80cm long, which fact reveals that the same measurement was used as in the ruling period of Sunjo. When all the measurement laws which were established in the 3rd year of Junghee, the 6th year of Kwangmu were abolished, Pobeckchuck was solely banned from its use, which fact offers a glimpse of how confusing at that period was. The comparison and examination among many documents in the latter part of Joseon Dynasty show the differences within about 4cm that one Pobeckchuck ranged from 44.80cm to 48.80cm long. But no other document on measurement appeared in the History of Joseon Dynasty, except for the 46.80cm. Thus, the 46.80cm corrected in the ruling period of Sunjo proves that one chuck in Pobeckchuck adopted by the dynasty was used as the measurement of length till the ruling period of Sunjong.
King Sunjong was the 27th King and the last King in the Joseon Dynasty. He lived an unhappy life as the prince and the King of perishing country. At the age of 22, He witness the death of his mother Queen Myeongseong by Japanese assassin. He has a weak constitution and have many diseases. He get varicella(水痘) in infancy, and suffered from smallpox(紅疫) at 6, and catched the measles(天然痘) at 12. At the age of 25, Having drunk the coffee that contained opium(阿片), he had bloody excrement(血便) and lose the 18 teeth. The Symptoms that appeared frequently at adult age are indigestion(滯症), diarrhea(泄瀉), trophedema(足部浮腫), odontopathy(齒科疾患) etc. This indigestion(滯症) and diarrhea(泄瀉) are occurred by gastroenteropathy(胃腸病). This odontopathy(齒科疾患) is the aftereffect from having 18 false teeth. We assume that this trophedema(足部浮腫) is occurred by cardiac disease(心臟病) and renal disease(腎臟病). The chronic diseases of King Sunjong are gastroenteropathy(胃腸病), renal disease(腎臟病), cardiac disease(心臟病), rheumatism. We assume that the immediate cause of his death is the aggravation of the renal disease(腎臟病) and cardiac disease(心臟病). The medical treatments for him are hardly included in "Formal Records of the Joseon Dynasty(朝鮮王朝實錄)" which is the prime governmental document. Many royal doctors in court used the traditional Korean medicine, but western doctors from Japan often treated him by medical techniques such as injection(注射), consperg(散藥), liquid medicine(水藥).
In situ detection of RNAs is becoming increasingly important for analysis of gene expression within and between intact cells in tissues. International genomics efforts are now cataloging patterns of RNA transcription that play roles in cell function, differentiation, and disease formation, and they are demon-strating the importance of coding and noncoding RNA transcripts in these processes. However, these techniques typically provide ensemble averages of transcription across many cells. In situ hybridization-based analysis methods complement these studies by providing information about how expression levels change between cells within normal and diseased tissues, and they provide information about the localization of transcripts within cells, which is important in understanding mechanisms of gene regulation. Multi-color, single-molecule fluorescence in situ hybridization (smFISH) is particularly useful since it enables analysis of several different transcripts simultaneously. Combining smFISH with immunofluorescent protein detection provides additional information about the association between transcription level, cellular localization, and protein expression in individual cells.
This study attempted to clarify the modern transition process of the urban space through the construction and change of the Imperial Palace as a central facility in Seoul. The road renovation of Seoul, which started in 1895, has established a modern, circular transportation system centered on Gyeongun-gung Palace, the Imperial Palace along with the tram line. In this urban structure, the imperial palace as a central facility of the former monarchy, unlike the previous palaces, could not be located at the top of a road with a longitudinal axis, and it expanded its territory around foreign legionaries and placed a new government office around the perimeter. However, the royal palace was moved to Changdeokgung Palace in 1907 with the throne of Sunjong. With the creation of Changdeokgung, which is the periphery of Seoul, as new royal palace, the status of the imperial palace in the city was remarkably weakened, and Gyeongun-gung, located in the center of Seoul, was also reduced to the current Deoksugung area, turning into an urban facility facing a modern street.

The cities of Joseon dynasty had weak structure against fire. Fires have resulted in damage on property and life. But they gave a chance to development various policies, planning tools, techniques and facilities for minimizing the damages of fire. This study aims to understand the progression of fire control policy in Joseon dynasty. Fire control policies can be divided into four categories ; fire prevention, prohibition of fire spreading, fire extinguishing and rescue system. The progression of fire control policies can be divided into three steps. In the first step, from Taejong to Moonjong, various policy, such as regal & administrative system, planning tools, fire control works & appliances have been built and executed. In the second step, from Danjong to Hyunjong, fire control work have taken the central place of fire control policy. In the third step, from Sookjong to Sunjong, development of fire control appliances have taken the central place of fire control policy.
Mt. Nam (265m), a city park of Seoul, was originally covered with a typical deciduous broad-leaved forests in Central Korea. However, the park forests have been changed the development for various purpose such as the construction of castle wall, road way, broadcasting station, theater, hotel and apartments, in addition, to thoughtless plantation or alien plant introduction. Human population growth from ca. 100 thousands persons less in that time established Seoul as the capital of choseon dynasty in 1394 to ten millions over persons at present, accelerated the vegetational changes of the park. mt. Nam boundary in those days of sunjong (1908) also was much shrinked as much the range of 300 m distance in the northern most to 700 or 800m distance in some places. The actual vegetation of Mt. Nam largely can be classified by floristic composition into two plant communities of Quercus mongolica community and Pinus densiflora community, four plantations of Pinus rigida, Robinia pseudo-acacia, Populus tomentiglandulosa and other tree species, and on mixed forest with native and alien tree species in secondary succession stage (Yim et al. 1987). The restoration movement of Mt. Nam toward to the natural condition of forest or biodiversity is moving now. However, in the movement there are some problems such as the lack of ecological consideration and the undesirable decision of priority in the practice. A warning should be given, especially, on the undesirable plantation of non-native tree species restricting the forest succession, as in the case of southern slope of Mt. Nam. First of all, the most importance in Mt. Nam management is that the restoration for natural forest and biodiversity should be carried on the basis of integrated ecological principles based on the site evaluation.
Scholar Byeoksu in a Pavilion by An Jung-sik (1861-1919; sobriquet: Simjeon) was first shown to the public in the exhibition Art of the Korean Empire: The Emergence of Modern Art at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Deoksugung. This painting bears poems and inscriptions composed by Kim Taek-yeong (1850-1927; sobriquet: Changgang) and written by Kwon Dong-su (1842-?; sobriquet: Seokun). A rare example of an actual-view landscape painting by An Jung-sik, this painting is significant in that it depicts upper-class houses in Seoul in the early twentieth century. More importantly, it demonstrates an association among intellectuals of the time. Yun Deok-yeong (1873-1940; sobriquet: Byeoksu), who asked An Jung-sik to create this painting, was an uncle of Empress Sunjeonghyo (1894-1966), the consort of Emperor Sunjong. He was one of the most prominent collaborators who promoted the Japanese colonization of Korea. When Emperor Sunjong bestowed Yun Deok-yeong with a hanging board with an inscription reading "Scholar Byeoksu in a Pavilion," Yun requested the production of this painting to mark the event. Kim Taek-yeong, a master of Chinese literature during the late Korean Empire period, sought asylum in Nantong, Jiangsu Province in China with his family a month before the Protectorate Treaty was signed between Korea and Japan in 1905. In 1909, he returned to Korea. His decision to return was greatly influenced by Yun Deok-yeong and Yi Jae-wan (1855-1922). Upon his return, Kim Taek-yeong intended to gather materials for publishing a history book. Also, Kim continuously met his old acquaintances, made new friends, and socialized with them. He built relationships with people from various backgrounds, including those living in regions like Gurye, and even in other countries like Japan. This indicates that intellectuals of the time were still forming networks through poems and prose regardless of their political inclination, social rank, or nationality. Scholar Byeoksu in a Pavilion is of great value in that it shows an aspect of the intellectual exchanges among the learned people of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
The memorial stones of Sumanotap were known to have been sequentially produced in 1719, 1773, 1874, 1653, 1874. However, after examining the chronological era (年號) and sexagesimal cycle (干支), it was found that the second and fourth memorial stones were both recorded in 1713. The reason why the records of the same period were divided into two is assumed that since the subject to repair was divided into main structure and flagpole of the temple, and it was recorded per each monk in charge and donator. On the fifth tablet of the memorial stone of Sumanotap contains all the names of monks who were in charge of repairing Sumanotap as well as the names of common donators. These people are not verified in detail though, through comparing the Buddhist names on the third memorial stone with Buddhist paintings and painting records, 12 monks were identified to be in the same names. Generally, they were active in Gangwon province, Gyeongsang province, Seoul and Gyeonggi province in the late 19th century and even after the Sumanotap repair, they took up other duties of various temples. The most notable name among the donators recorded in the memorial stones of Sumanotap was Kim Jwageun. He was the donator for the chest of gold and silver that was enshrined in the pagoda in 1874. His name was recorded with Mrs. Yang from Cheongsin and, at that time, was known just as a donator. However, actually, the donator was not Kim Jwageun but his mistress Mrs. Yang who used to be a gisaeng, called Na-hap and was from Naju. Kim Jwageun deceased in 1869 already. It is exceptional that Mrs. Yang who were the mistress of the prime minister Kim Jwageun personally participated in the Buddhist event in which king, queen, mothers of king and queen, noblewoman participated. Besides, the event of Sumanotap repair was carried out by royal family in order to celebrate the hundredth day of the prince, Sunjong and his grandfather, Heungseon Daewongun did not participate for political reason. In this situation, the domination of Mrs. Yang is considered remarkable. Meanwhile, the temples that frequently appeared among the 10 temples recorded in the memorial stone of Sumanotap are Gakhwa-sa temple in Bonghwa-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do and Bodeok-sa temple in Yeongwolgun, Gangwon-do. Gakhwa-sa temple was a temple where the historical achievements were kept so was under the government's control. Bodeok-sa temple was the buddhist temple praying for the soul of the Danjong buried in the tomb and was managed by the government. Therefore, the face these two temples participated in the Sumanotap repair proves that Sumanotap was repaired by the supports form these two temples and the stature of Sumanotap at that time was as high as the temples where the historical achievements are store or the royal buddhist temples for praying for ancestors' souls.

This study analyzed the MMPI (Minnesota Multiphashic Personality Inventory), VAS (Visual Analogue Scale), cervical and lumbar curvature (Cervical angle, Ishihara Index, Lumbar angle, Ferguson angle) and satisfaction score of patient of traffic accident. About 59 cases of patients admitted to the Korean Medicine hospital, MMPI and pain levels (VAS) cervical and lumbar curvature (Cervical angle, Ishihara Index, lumbar angle, Ferguson angle) and satisfaction score were measured and statistically analyzed. Depending on the type of accident divided into two groups of In car TA and Out car TA. After hospitalization, patient's pain index was improved as a whole. Pain index and evaluation of the cervical and lumbar curvature, according to the accident types, the difference was not statistically significant. In the analysis of the MMPI validity scales, In car TA group was analyzed by 'V-shaped', Out car TA group was analyzed by umbrella- shaped, 'inverted V-shaped'. Clinical scales of out car TA group were analyzed by 3-1 profile compared to the In car TA group. Results of multiple regression analysis showed no association between factors and MMPI scales. In the case of a traffic accident patients, damage to the body, as well as emotional and psychological factors are thought to affect the condition or prognosis of patients. In the future, for the management and treatment of these parts will be needed to complement the academic or institutional.

Fog causes economic losses in transportation. It also results in health problems when it is combined with air pollutants. Considerable research efforts have focused on developing fog removal systems. However, most systems operate themselves after monitoring the fog. Additionally, continuous energy supply and maintenance are required to retain the fog-removal efficiency of the system. This study included the demonstration of a moss filter (a polyolefin mesh interlaced with moss) as a fog-removal method overcoming the limitations of the fog removal system. Three types of mosses with different surface structures were investigated to elucidate the relation between the moisture absorption rate and the structures. Among the different moss types, Hypopterygium japinicum showed the highest efficiency based on the smallest pore diameter and the largest total pore area. The visibilities with the moss filter and the polyolefin mesh were compared to perform the fog removal tests. The moss filter could provide a cost-effective and eco-friendly fog removal system with sustainability.
