The purpose of this paper is to predict Sun Transit Outage phenomenon(Sunout). Sunout had been studied mainly for the case of Geostationary satellite and under the assumption of 'Quiet Sun'. In this paper, we predict sunout phenomenon more precisely for non-geostationary orbit as well as geostationary orbit and specially we considered the degree of solar activity. And we compare the result of the case of C-band and Ku-band. Also the result is applied to the two KoreaSat communication system through calculating the link budget.
Distributed generation (DG) plays an important role in the power system nowadays. Over-current relay, widely used in the DG protection, causes a wide outage section and long time delay. This paper proposes a DG protection technique to minimize the outage section. The proposed method uses three directional over-current relays with time delay, which are connected to the point of common coupling. The method can minimize the outage section.
This paper presents new service restoration algorithm to deal with multiple faults such as main transformer fault, whole substation fault and simultaneous faults. The most important consideration of restoration planning for multiple outage areas is efficient use of redundant backup feeders. The proposed algorithm tries to restore all outage loads using outage area ordering method and tie switch exchange method that are newly proposed in this paper.

In a single-source and multi-relay amplify-forward (AF) cooperative network, the outage probability and the power allocation are two key factors to influence the performance of an entire system. In this paper, an optimized AF relay selection by an exclusive method and near optimal power allocation (NOPA) is proposed for both good outage probability and power efficiency. Given the same power at the source and the relay nodes, a threshold for selecting the relay nodes is deduced and employed to minimize the average outage probability. It mainly excludes the relay nodes with much higher thresholds over the aforementioned threshold and thus the remainders of the relay nodes participate in cooperative forwarding efficiently. So the proposed scheme can improve the utility of the resources in the cooperative multi-relay system, as well as reduce the computational complexity. In addition, based on the proposed scheme, a NOPA is also suggested to approach sub-optimal power efficiency with low complexity. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme obtains about 2.1dB and 5.8dB performance gain at outage probability of $10^{-4}$, when compared with the all-relay-forward (6 participated relays) and the single-relay-forward schemes. Furthermore, it obtains the minimum outage probability among all selective relay schemes with the same number of the relays. Meanwhile, it approaches closely to the optimal exhaustive scheme, thus reduce much complexity. Moreover, the proposed NOPA scheme achieves better outage probability than those of the equal power allocation schemes. Therefore, the proposed scheme can obtain good outage probability, low computational complexity and high power efficiency, which makes it pragmatic efficiently in the single-source and multi-relay AF based cooperative networks.

This paper studies on Sun interference effects or Sun outage effects on C-band satellite reception signal for THAICOM2. The THAICOM2 satellite is at 78.5 degree East 〔co-located with THAICOM3〕. The down link station was located in Khon-kaen, longitude 102.83 degree East and latitude 16.43 degree North. The antenna diameter is 4.6 meters for C-band downlink station. Total 9 times of sun interference events were occurred during summer and fall of 2001 and these about 53 minutes altogether. The Maximum CM degradation of the THAICOM2 system was around 11 dB. The Sun interference events of 53 minutes of one year are 0.0122 percents of the C-band contact time when 21 hours of contact time is used f3r broadcasting a day.

We develop an adaptive hot-spot operating scheme(AHOS) to mitigate the negative effects from the nonuniform distribution of user location and the variation in the mixture of QoS requirements in OFDMA downlink systems. The base station in a macrocell can control the operation of picocells within the cell, and turns on or off according to the changes in the estimated user outage probability and the AHOS gain parameter. With the computer simulation, the AHOS has been proved to maximize the system throughput while maintaining the QoS outage probability very low under various system scenarios.

In this paper, we investigate decode-and-forward (DF) relaying systems with a direct link between the source and the destination node. The objective of this paper is to determine the better relaying strategy between 3-hop DF relaying and dual-hop DF relaying with the best relay selection. Assuming Rayleigh fading channels, we present closed-form outage probability of the 3-hop relaying and the dual-hop relaying, respectively, and compare the performances by numerical investigation. Numerical results show that if the channel is poor, the outage performance of the 3-hop relaying is better than the dual-hop relaying.

This paper presents channel measurements for wireless body area network(WBAN) and provides performance evaluation from the measurement. We measured the radio propagation in 2.45 GHz ISM band in an anechoic chamber according to various human movements and the position of transmit antennas. Two transmit antennas are mounted on different positions of human body for the purpose of comparing the diversity gain and correlation between the channels in $2{\times}1$ multiple-input single-output(MISO) systems. The experimental results show that the outage capacity is closely related with the correlation coefficient between channels in transmit diversity system.

Wireless Relaying is a promising solutions to overcome the channel impairments and provides high data rate coverage that appear for beyond 3G mobile communications. In this paper we present end to end BER performance of dual hop wireless communication systems equipped with multiple Decode and Forward relays over Rayleigh fading channel with the best relay selection. We compare the BER performance of the best relay with the BER performance of single relay. We select the best relay based on the end to end channel conditions. We further calculate the outage probability of the best relay. It is shown that the outage probability of the best relay is equivalent to the outage probability when all relays take part in the transmission. We apply Orthogonal Space Time Block coding(OSTBC) at the source terminal. Numerical and simulation results are presented to verify our analysis.

In this paper, we proposed a transmission scheme for a full-duplex relay system that minimizes outage probability. A relay system with the full-duplex relay can mitigate resource inefficiency of a half-duplex relay system. However, the mobile station suffers from the interference because the base station and the relay station transmits signal simultaneously to the mobile station. First, we suggest a layered broadcasting for full-duplex relaying. Second, we derive an optimal power allocation for the layered broadcasting in terms of the outage probability minimization. The proposed algorithm shows better performance than a half-duplex relaying system with and without the diversity, and a conventional full-duplex relaying system.
